Mercedes was designated for assignment on Sunday.

Mercedes was slashing .230/.376/.425 with four home runs in 25 games at Triple-A. He was a nice story early last season when he was having success in the majors but no longer factors into Chicago's short- or long-term plans.

Miller is not in Sunday's lineup against the White Sox.

Even with a righty (Michael Kopech) on the hill, Miller will head to the bench after being activated from the injured list Friday and notching two hits Saturday. Zach Reks will start in left field and hit eighth.

Stanton went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 8-0 victory versus the Cubs.

Stanton was part of a homer barrage against Cubs starter Matt Swarmer, as the slugger's 436-foot, fourth-inning blast was one of six solo shots hit by the Yankees against the rookie hurler. Of note, Stanton's blast was hit at an estimated 119.8 mph -- the hardest hit homer in the majors this season and the fourth-hardest in the Statcast era, per Sarah Langs of MLB.com. Stanton has just two hits over his past 15 at-bats, but both have left the yard.

Harper went 2-for-3 with one run scored and one steal in Saturday's win over Arizona.

Harper continued a torrid start to June with his third multi-hit affair in a row. The lefty outfielder has a hit in seven of eight games this month, giving him a stellar .433/.486/.967 slash line in June. Harper also picked up a steal in Saturday's game, his seventh of the year and his first since May 11.

Belt (knee) probably won't return from the 10-day injured list Sunday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Belt hasn't been announced as suffering a setback, but manager Gabe Kapler indicated it could still be a few days before he's back. As long as the first baseman is sidelined, there should be more playing time available for Darin Ruf. It's questionable if Belt will return during next week's series versus the Royals -- nothing definitive has been determined on how much longer Belt is out.

Ohtani went 3-for-4 with a home run, double, three runs and three RBI in a 11-6 win against the Mets on Saturday.

Ohtani reached base with a double, single and home run in each of his first three at-bats for his first three-hit game since May 9. In the process, the 27-year-old extended his hit streak to a modest eight games, though he's batting a standard .286 during 42 June at-bats. The two-way phenom is now slashing .255/.333/.476 with 13 home runs, 41 runs and 37 RBI in 60 games.

Vogelbach went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 10-4 loss to Atlanta.

Vogelbach gave the Pirates a brief 2-0 lead with his first-inning blast, which Atlanta answered in its half of the frame. The designated hitter has hit safely in each of his last two games after breaking an 0-for-11 skid, but he hasn't recorded hits in three straight contests since late April. The 29-year-old slugger is at a .230/.312/.432 slash line with seven homers, 15 RBI, 16 runs scored, five doubles and a triple through 41 contests.

Pederson is not in Saturday's lineup against the Dodgers, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Pederson will head to the bench with lefty Clayton Kershaw on the hill for the Dodgers. He could appear off the bench as a pinch hitter once a righty comes into the game.

Rooker will serve as the Padres' 27th man in Saturday's doubleheader against the Rockies.

Rooker spent a couple days on the big-league roster earlier this season, and he will be available for a couple more games.

Buxton is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Buxton walloped a whopping five home runs over his last three games, but he will get a chance to get off his feet Saturday. Gilberto Celestino will get the start in center field, and Gary Sanchez will serve as the Twins' designated hitter.
