  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

    Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Remains hot

Alvarez went 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Nationals.

Alvarez singled and scored as part of the Astros' five-run rally in the first inning and extended the lead to six with a solo shot in the top of the third inning. He's riding a streak of three consecutive multi-hit games and now has 11 homers on the season to go along with a .280/.381/.640 slash line.

  • Mike Ford DH | MIN

Mariners' Mike Ford: On active roster, starting Friday

Ford will bat seventh as the designated hitter Friday against the Mets after being added to the Mariners' active roster, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Ford was claimed off waivers from the Giants on Thursday and will quickly enter the lineup for the Mariners. The 29-year-old spent six games on Seattle's roster earlier this season but didn't see the field before being designated for assignment and shipped to San Francisco at the end of April.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Rangers' Brad Miller: Provides game-winning hit

Miller went 2-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Royals.

Miller's seventh-inning flyball down the right field line clanged off the foul pole 326 feet away and provided the game-winning run. It was his fifth homer of the season and second in as many nights. The utility player, who started at third base Thursday, has heated up over the past week, going 7-for-18 (.389) with three home runs and seven RBI. Miller is emerging from a 6-for-43 (.140) stretch when it looked like he might lose playing time.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Homers, drives in three

Harper went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI in Thursday's 9-7 victory versus the Dodgers.

It was announced Thursday that Harper has a small tear in his UCL and won't be able to play the field for the foreseeable future, but the injury didn't seem to affect him at the plate Thursday. The veteran put the Phillies on the board with a solo shot to right field in the first inning and drove in two more runs before the contest was over. Harper has enjoyed a strong start to the month of May, slashing .325/.349/.725 with four homers, four doubles, eight RBI and three stolen bases through 10 games.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Launches two homers Thursday

Stanton went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs, a walk, three total runs and six total RBI in Thursday's 15-7 win over the White Sox.

Stanton tormented Chicago starter Dylan Cease with two-run homers in the first and third innings. He added a two-run single in the eighth to wrap up his most productive game of the campaign thus far. This was Stanton's first multi-homer effort of the season and his third three-hit performance. The slugger is slashing .277/.311/.527 with nine home runs and 28 RBI across 122 plate appearances.

  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

Mets' Mark Canha: Powers Mets' offense

Canha went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, three RBI and two runs scored Thursday against the Nationals.

Canha delivered a two-RBI single in the first inning and then followed that up with his second home run of the season in the ninth frame. He entered the contest with only two hits across his last 20 at-bats while striking out at a 27.3 percent clip. However, Canha snapped out of the cold spell Thursday, and he is hitting .313/.376/.398 to go along with 12 RBI and 10 runs scored across 93 plate appearances on the campaign.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Huge game in Minnesota

Alvarez went 3-for-5 with two home runs, a double, and three RBI in a 5-0 win Thursday in Minnesota.

Alvarez took Josh Winder deep with a two-run shot in the third inning and gave Houston an insurance run with his ninth-inning solo blast. The designated hitter had been hitless in his previous four ball games, going 0-for-11 with five walks. As impressive as his 10 home runs and .992 OPS are, Alvarez's 17:20 BB:K ratio through 109 plate appearances represents a dramatic improvement over his career rates.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Forced to remain at DH

Tests on Harper's elbow revealed a small tear in his UCL, and he will not throw for four weeks, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Harper has served exclusively as Philadelphia's designated hitter since April 17 and that will continue until at least the middle of June. The hope is that he will begin throwing at that time, and he'll also receive a PRP injection Sunday to help mitigate his pain. Though Harper will remain in the lineup most days, the team has announced he will be out Sunday against the Dodgers and perhaps Tuesday for the series opener against the Padres.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Not starting Thursday

Turner isn't starting Thursday against the Phillies.

Turner has been held hitless in four of the last five games, and he's gone 4-for-16 with three doubles, five RBI, four runs and four walks during that time. Max Muncy will start at third base while Edwin Rios serves as the designated hitter.

  • Astros' Michael Brantley: Sitting Thursday

Brantley is out of the lineup for Thursday's regularly scheduled game against the Twins, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The 34-year-old finished out the suspended game from Wednesday, going 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs, but he'll take a seat for Thursday's regularly scheduled contest. Chas McCormick will shift to left field in Brantley's place while Jose Siri starts in center.
