  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

Mets' Mark Canha: Day off Saturday

Canha isn't starting Saturday against the Mariners.

  • Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM

Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Sits against southpaw

Choi isn't starting Saturday against Toronto, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Choi has drawn four starts since returning to the field, but he's gone 0-for-15 with an RBI and eight strikeouts. Manuel Margot will serve as the designated hitter while Vidal Brujan starts in right field against southpaw Hyun Jin Ryu.

  • Mark Vientos DH | NYM

    Mets' Mark Vientos: Flashing power

Vientos has gone 8-for-22 (.364) over his last six games for Triple-A Syracuse with four home runs and seven RBI.

Considered one of the organization's top prospects, Vientos has had a brutal start to the season at Syracuse, but he seems to be finding his groove. Strikeouts remain an issue for Vientos -- he's fanned seven times in his last six games, and has a 30.0 percent strikeout rate through 100 plate appearances on the year -- but his .212/.320/.459 slash line will rise quickly with an extended hot streak. He posted a .282/.354/.584 line between Syracuse and Double-A Binghamton over 83 games in 2021 with 25 homers.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Goes deep again Friday

Stanton went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored Friday in a 10-4 victory versus the White Sox.

The slugger got the Yankees off to a fast start in the contest with a 427-foot, two-run bomb to center field. This marked the third straight game in which Stanton has gone deep, and he has gone 7-for-12 with four homers, 11 RBI and six runs during the scorching stretch. The hot streak has lifted his season slash line to .284/.323/.552, and Stanton is tied for third in the league with 10 long balls on the campaign.

  • J.D. Martinez DH | NYM

Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: Keeps streaks alive

Martinez went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and two runs scored in Friday's 7-1 win over the Rangers.

Martinez's sixth-inning single extended a hitting streak to 15 consecutive games and a season-long on-base streak to 25. He's shown no sign of slowing down at age 34, posting a slash of .306/.349/.510 with 14 extra-base hits, 15 RBI and 12 runs scored over 106 plate appearances.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Slugs clutch homer

Turner went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and four RBI in Friday's loss to the Phillies.

Turner contributed to a five-run third inning for the Dodgers by doubling in a pair of runs, then sent the game into extra innings with a two-run shot to left field in the bottom of the ninth. The veteran third baseman has gotten off to a slow start this season, slashing .211/.264/.349 with only two long balls through 121 plate appearances. However, he has picked things up of late, going 7-for-14 with five doubles and 10 RBI over his past four contests.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Socks second homer

Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBI in Friday's 4-2 win over the Orioles.

He opened the scoring with an RBI two-bagger in the third inning before swatting a solo shot in the sixth, his second homer of the year. Cabrera has seven hits in the last four games, including three extra-base knocks, to push his slash line on the season up to .276/.325/.381 with 12 RBI through 29 contests. The 39-year-old is nearing the end of his Hall of Fame career, but he's still capable of making a contribution.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Rangers' Brad Miller: Walks, steals in loss

Miller went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 7-1 loss to the Red Sox.

Miller swiped his fourth bag of the season, surpassing his total over 140 games with the Phillies in 2021. The 32-year-old's stolen double-digit bags just once during his career -- 13 for the Mariners in 2015 -- but he's part of a runnin' Rangers squad that is tied for third in MLB with 22 thefts.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Homers, on base five times

Harper went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two doubles, two walks, two runs and two RBI in a 12-10 victory over the Dodgers on Friday.

Harper was the driving force behind Friday's power surge, doubling in the third and sixth, walking in the fourth and 10th and homering in the eighth for his fourth multi-hit game in his last five. The 29-year-old has been scorching over the past week-plus, going 15-for-32 with six doubles and four home runs to bump his slash line to .291/.350/.598.
