  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Out for season

Belt will undergo season-ending knee surgery Saturday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

After receiving a second opinion on his right knee, Belt decided to undergo yet another knee procedure, ending his season. In 2022, Belt slashed .213/.326/.350 -- by far the worst numbers of his career -- and played in just 78 games. The 34-year-old veteran said he would like to continue playing, though at the end of the day it depends on how his knee recovers.

  • Jorge Soler DH | LAA

Marlins' Jorge Soler: Set to hit in sim game

Soler (back) is expected to hit in a simulated game Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Soler resumed hitting in a cage in mid-August and has now been cleared to face live pitching. The 30-year-old is trending in the right direction, but it seems likely that he'll require a rehab assignment prior to rejoining the Marlins as he's been on the injured list since July 23.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Out of lineup

Jimenez (leg) is not listed in the lineup for Friday's game against Minnesota, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Jimenez left Thursday's victory over Kansas City early with right leg soreness, and it seems the issue is enough to keep him on the bench Friday. His right leg has been very problematic for him recently, though he has still been able to appear in all but one game since Aug. 1.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Another double in loss

Turner went 2-for-2 with one double, one RBI and one run scored in Thursday's loss to the Mets.

The 37-year-old is enjoying an 11-game hit streak, recording a .429 batting average in 42 at-bats. In addition, Turner has recorded a double in five of his last seven games.

  • Joey Meneses DH | NYM

Nationals' Joey Meneses: Delivers walk-off homer

Meneses went 4-for-6 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored Thursday against the Athletics.

Meneses delivered a walk-off, three-run home run in the 10th inning. It was his second homer in his last eight starts, and he's also maintained a .424 average with eight RBI and eight runs scored in that span. Since being recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Aug. 2, Meneses has produced a .354/.385/.626 line across 104 plate appearances.

  • Brewers' Andrew McCutchen: Takes seat Thursday

McCutchen isn't starting Thursday against the Diamondbacks, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

McCutchen has gone 1-for-7 with a walk and three strikeouts over his last two matchups but will be on the bench for the third time in the last five games. Rowdy Tellez will serve as the designated hitter and bat third Thursday.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Exits game early

Jimenez left Thursday's game against the Royals in the seventh inning due to right leg soreness.

Thursday marks the third time in the past seven days in which Jimenez's right leg issues have caused him to leave a game early or be held out of the lineup. The injury doesn't seem to be severe since he is listed as day-to-day, but the lingering nature of the issue likely means it will remain a problem down the stretch.

  • Nick Solak 1B | PIT

Rangers' Nick Solak: Added to active roster

Solak was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.

Solak was sent to Round Rock in early August, and he slashed .260/.365/.521 with five home runs, four doubles, 16 RBI, 15 runs and two stolen bases over 18 minor-league games following his demotion. Since active rosters expanded to 28 players Thursday, Solak will rejoin the big-league club to provide additional depth.

  • Kyle Lewis DH | ARI

Mariners' Kyle Lewis: Stays put in Triple-A

Lewis, who owns a .290 average and .740 OPS over the first eight games of his current stint with Triple-A Tacoma, was passed over for a Sept. 1 promotion to the Mariners in favor of fellow outfielder Taylor Trammell.

Lewis was initially resistant to playing for the Rainiers once he was optioned Aug. 10 after struggling badly at the big-league level, and once he finally suited up in Tacoma, he went just 1-for-12 with six strikeouts in his first three games. While the 27-year-old has completely turned it around over his subsequent five contests -- a stretch during which he's produced three multi-hit efforts on his way to a .400/.455/.550 slash line with a home run and five RBI -- it appears Lewis will remain on the farm for the balance of the Triple-A regular season in anticipation of a fresh start in spring training with the big-league club.

  • Mets' Daniel Vogelbach: Sits again versus southpaw

Vogelbach is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Dodgers, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Clayton Kershaw is the third consecutive left-handed starter taking the mound for the Dodgers, and Vogelbach will once again be on the bench Wednesday. Darin Ruf will bat fifth as the designated hitter.
