  • Cubs' Christopher Morel: Out of Sunday's lineup

Morel is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh.

Morel is hitting .120 over his past 11 games and will take a seat for Sunday's series finale. Patrick Wisdom will start at the hot corner and bat third.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Sitting Sunday

Jimenez is not in Sunday's lineup against the Tigers.

Jimenez is swinging a hot bat, boasting a .333 average, two home runs, two doubles, six runs and six RBI over his last six games. Yasmani Grandal gets the nod at designated hitter while Seby Zavala starts behind the dish.

  • Joey Meneses DH | NYM

Nationals' Joey Meneses: Goes deep during loss

Meneses went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Marlins.

Meneses smashed a homer off righty starter Sandy Alcantara to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead with two outs in the first inning. The first baseman has gone 9-for-20 during his last five games with two doubles and two homers. The 30-year-old rookie crushes left-handed pitching, recording a 1.119 OPS over 66 plate appearances compared to an .833 OPS over 129 plate appearances facing righties.

  • Mark Vientos DH | NYM

Mets' Mark Vientos: Hits first career homer

Vientos went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in a 10-4 loss to the Athletics on Saturday.

Vientos hit his first major-league home run on a 3-1 offering from Ken Waldichuk to tie the game. The 22-year-old rookie third baseman is slashing .167/.286/.333 in 24 big league at-bats.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Slugs solo homer

Jimenez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Tigers.

Jimenez and Gavin Sheets went back-to-back with solo homers in the fourth inning, but those were the only two runs Chicago managed in the loss. The long ball extended Jimenez's modest hitting streak to six games, during which he's gone 8-for-24 (.333) with a pair of homers and six RBI. Jimenez has missed much of the season due to injuries, but he's hit 15 homers -- his most since his rookie 2019 campaign -- over 77 games.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Giants' Joc Pederson: On bench against righty

Pederson will sit Saturday against Arizona.

Pederson's only off days against right-handers thus far this season have been due to injury, so it's possible his absence Saturday against Merrill Kelly indicates some sort of physical issue. On the other hand, it's also possible the Giants simply want to spread the playing time around at the end of a disappointing season. Whatever the reason, it will be LaMonte Wade who starts in left field Saturday.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

    Dodgers' Justin Turner: Resting Saturday

Turner isn't starting Saturday against the Cardinals.

Turner went 5-for-18 with a run, a walk and three strikeouts over the last five games and will get a day off Saturday. Max Muncy is starting at third base and batting fifth.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Mariners' Jesse Winker: Sits against lefty

Winker will sit against lefty Kris Bubic and the Royals on Saturday.

Winker had more than a platoon role for much of the year, but he's been on the bench against the last eight lefties the Mariners have faced. He actually has reverse splits this season, posting a 126 wRC+ against lefties and a 97 wRC+ against righties, though those numbers sit at 83 and 136, respectively, for his career. Sam Haggerty will get the start in left field.

  • Harold Ramirez DH | WAS

Rays' Harold Ramirez: Not in Saturday's lineup

Ramirez will sit Saturday against the Blue Jays, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Ramirez hits the bench for the second time in three games despite the fact that he scored three runs in Friday's 10-6 win. His .765 OPS on the season remains the best of his four-year career, though he owns a .467 OPS over his last eight contests.

  • Mets' Daniel Vogelbach: On bench against another lefty

Vogelbach remains on the bench Saturday against Oakland, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Vogelbach continues to sit against every lefty the Mets face, a trend which will continue here against Ken Waldichuk. Mark Vientos will again serve as the designated hitter.
