  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Goes yard in win

Flores went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Monday's 4-3 win over the Padres.

Flores got the start at designated hitter, and he made an early impact by taking southpaw Nestor Cortes deep in the first inning. Flores was one of three Giants to hit a homer in the opening frame, and that ultimately was all the offense the team needed. Playing in a short-side platoon role, Flores will likely continue to be limited for playing time. The veteran infielder has gone 5-for-16 (.313) over just seven games in August. On the year, he's slashing .248/.316/.383 with 13 homers, 63 RBI, 37 runs scored and one stolen base over 395 plate appearances.

  • Giants' Rafael Devers: Homers early in win

Devers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's 4-3 win over the Padres.

Devers went back-to-back with Heliot Ramos to open the game. Over the last 10 games, Devers has hit four homers while batting .282 (11-for-39). The 28-year-old is up to 24 long balls, 82 RBI, 70 runs scored, one stolen base and 28 doubles while maintaining a .257/.377/.469 slash line through 126 contests between the Giants and the Red Sox this season.

  • Colt Keith DH | DET

Tigers' Colt Keith: Big effort in easy win

Keith went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBI and two total runs scored in Monday's 10-0 win over the Astros. He also stole a base.

Keith batted leadoff and paced the Tigers' 10-run, 13-hit onslaught. He's now up to 11 home runs this season, but the stolen base was his first after swiping seven as a rookie in 2024. Keith is batting a robust .354 over his last 15 games with three home runs, seven RBI and 11 runs scored. With the 24-year-old locked into the No. 1 spot in the order against righties, he should continue to produce good fantasy stats as part of a potent Detroit offense.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Should go five innings Wednesday

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Ohtani will make his next start as a pitcher Wednesday versus the Rockies at Coors Field and will be targeted for five innings, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Through his first nine starts as a pitcher coming back from September 2023 Tommy John surgery, Ohtani has turned in a stellar 3.47 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 32:5 K:BB across 23.1 innings, but because he hasn't worked at least five frames in any outing, he has yet to qualify for a win. Assuming he's able to avoid a blowup at Coors Field and reaches the five-inning benchmark, Ohtani should have a good chance at coming away with his first win of the season if he's able to exit the game with the Dodgers in the lead. Ohtani will continue to serve as the Dodgers' designated hitter Wednesday, though Roberts is contemplating giving the two-way superstar a breather for a day game in Thursday's series finale.

  • Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Idle against lefty

Yoshida is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.

The Red Sox are facing a lefty (Trevor Rogers) in the series opener, so the left-handed-hitting Yoshida will make his way to the bench. The right-handed-hitting Nate Eaton will step in for Yoshida as Boston's designated hitter.

  • Jorge Polanco DH | SEA

Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Taking seat against lefty

Polanco is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

The switch-hitting Polanco will be withheld from the lineup for the Mariners' second consecutive matchup with a lefty starter (Ranger Suarez). Mitch Garver will serve as Seattle's designated hitter in place of Polanco, who has produced a .279 wOBA over his 71 plate appearances versus southpaws in 2025.

  • Miguel Andujar DH | CIN

Reds' Miguel Andujar: Not in Monday's lineup

Andujar is not in the Reds' starting lineup against the Angels on Monday.

Andujar saw his eight-game hitting streak come to a halt against the Brewers on Sunday, when he went 0-for-3 with a strikeout. He has hit well since the All-Star break, posting a 1.060 OPS with 11 runs, six homers and 16 RBI in 77 plate appearances over that span. Andujar will begin Monday's game on the bench while Gavin Lux serves as the designated hitter and Matt McLain starts at second base.

  • Pavin Smith DH | ARI

Diamondbacks' Pavin Smith: Reinstated from IL, starting Monday

The Diamondbacks reinstated Smith (oblique) from the 10-day injured list, and he is starting at first base and batting fifth against the Guardians on Monday.

Smith has spent the last six weeks recovering from a right oblique strain that landed him on the 10-day IL in early July. He ended his rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno on a strong note, going 2-for-3 with two walks, two doubles and two runs scored in Saturday's contest. Smith will get the start at first base over Tyler Locklear on Monday, and the former could also work in rotation with Adrian Del Castillo at DH.

  • Giants' Rafael Devers: Multi-hit effort in victory

Devers went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Rays.

Devers singled in the sixth inning before coming around to score and added another base hit in the seventh. With that, the 28-year-old delivered his third multi-hit performance over 15 appearances in August. He has tallied at least one hit in six consecutive games, slashing .269/.269/.423 with two runs scored, one home run and one double across 26 plate appearances during that span.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Could return early next week

General manager Dana Brown suggested Sunday that Alvarez (hand) could be activated from the 60-day injured list at some point during the upcoming weekend, though the 28-year-old is more likely to return when Houston begins a 10-game homestand Aug. 26, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Alvarez is slated to kick off a rehab assignment with Double-A Corpus Christi on Tuesday, marking the slugger's first game action since he landed on the IL on May 5 due to what was later revealed to be a small fracture in his right hand. Despite being shelved for more than three months, Alvarez isn't expected to require a lengthy rehab assignment. The Astros plan to have Alvarez serve as Corpus Christi's designated hitter Tuesday, take Wednesday off, and then return to the Double-A lineup to play back-to-back games Thursday and Friday. Alvarez will be reassessed after those three games, and while it's feasible that he could rejoin the Astros for the final contest or two of the weekend series in Baltimore, he's more likely to stay behind in Texas before making his return to the Houston lineup early next week. Though Alvarez's power output could be compromised a bit coming off the hand injury, his eventual addition should provide a lift to the Astros offense down the stretch.
