  • Trevor Larnach DH | MIN

Twins' Trevor Larnach: Shielded from lefty

Larnach is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

Larnach will give way to Manuel Margot in left field while Atlanta sends southpaw Chris Sale to the hill for the series finale. Over 90 plate appearances against lefties this season, Larnach is hitting .183/.244/.280 with four extra-base hits.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Carpenter is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Padres.

Carpenter made five starts at designated hitter in a six-game stretch but has now been out of the lineup for two games in a row against righties. San Diego's starter Wednesday, Joe Musgrove, has reverse splits this season, which likely factored into Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol's decision to go with Luken Baker at DH.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Goes through full workout

McCutchen (knee) recently went through a full workout which included running the bases, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

McCutchen is eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list now and believes he's ready to return, but the Pirates are still discussing the next step for the veteran designated hitter. He's been out since mid-August with left knee inflammation.

  • Trevor Larnach DH | MIN

Twins' Trevor Larnach: Drives in three in loss

Larnach went 3-for-6 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in Tuesday's 8-6 extra-inning loss to Atlanta.

His RBI single in the eighth inning off Atlanta closer Raisel Iglesias tied the game at 4-4, but the Twins couldn't complete the comeback. Larnach has at least three hits in three of his last five games, and through 71 plate appearances in August the 27-year-old is slashing .318/.366/.530 with five doubles, three homers, 11 RBI and 15 runs.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | SD

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Goes deep Tuesday

O'Hearn went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.

O'Hearn took Jack Flaherty deep in the second to give his team the early lead. The home run was his first since July 20 and just his second hit in his last 21 at-bats. For the year, O'Hearn is slashing .268/.343/.438 with 13 homers, 49 RBI, 51 runs, three steals and a 40:51 BB:K in 399 plate appearances.

  • Gary Sanchez C | BAL

Brewers' Gary Sanchez: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Sanchez isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Tuesday's game against San Francisco.

Sanchez went 3-for-6 with a homer and five RBI during Milwaukee's previous series against the Athletics, and he'll now get a breather to open the Brewers' three-game set against the Giants. In his place, Jake Bauers will serve as the designated hitter and bat fourth.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Diamondbacks' Joc Pederson: Sitting against lefty

Pederson is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.

Heading into Tuesday's game, Pederson has appeared in the last seven games, going 5-for-21 with a home run and seven walks. However, with left-hander Sean Manaea on the mound for the Mets, Pederson will begin the game on the bench. In his designated hitter spot, Randal Grichuk has the start and is batting fifth.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Picking up starts against righties

Carpenter will serve as the Cardinals' designated hitter and No. 8 batter in Monday's game against the Padres.

Carpenter has been the main beneficiary thus far of the Cardinals' decision to demote the struggling Nolan Gorman to Triple-A Memphis last Wednesday. With Gorman out of the mix, Brendan Donovan and Alec Burleson have been seeing most of their starts lately at second base and in left field, respectively, leaving the DH spot available for Carpenter. Though he'll be getting his fifth start in the Cardinals' last six matchups with right-handed pitchers, Carpenter has yet to do much with the opportunity. He's gone 0-for-11 with three walks over his last five contests.

  • Trevor Larnach DH | MIN

Twins' Trevor Larnach: Getting day off versus lefty

Larnach is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta.

With lefty Max Fried toeing the rubber for Atlanta, the lefty-hitting Larnach will take a seat in the series opener. Royce Lewis will get a day out of the infield and will serve as the Twins' designated hitter in Larnach's stead while Jose Miranda checks into the lineup at Lewis' usual spot at third base.

  • Livan Soto SS | BAL

Orioles' Livan Soto: Back in majors

The Orioles recalled Soto from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Soto will provide some depth while the Orioles are without three key infielders (Jordan Westburg, Jorge Mateo and Ryan Mountcastle) due to injuries. It's the third stint with Baltimore this season for Soto, who did not see any action the first two times around.
