Buxton (wrist) could return to action for Triple-A Rochester "sometime next week," according to big-league manager Paul Molitor, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

He hit in the batting cage Tuesday and will do so again Wednesday, as he continues to make progress with his rehab. With the Twins out of the playoff race, they will likely leave Buxton at Triple-A through the minor-league season in an effort to get him going at the plate before he joins the big-league club in September.

Ohtani is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Tigers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

The Angels haven't been strictly platooning Ohtani, but he'll sit Wednesday with the left-handed Blaine Hardy on the mound. Albert Pujols will be the designated hitter, with Jefry Marte playing first base.

Carpenter went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the Cardinals' 3-2 win over the Marlins on Tuesday.

The home run was Carpenter's 30th of the season, giving him sole possession of the National League lead. Given that Carpenter had only gone deep three times through May 20, his surge up the leaderboard has been nothing short of miraculous. In addition to bagging 27 more long balls since that date, Carpenter has also delivered a .327 average, 46 RBI and 60 runs in 69 games, making him a four-category stalwart.

Blackmon went 2-for-4 with a run Tuesday in the Rockies' 10-2 loss to the Pirates.

Before receiving Monday off, Blackmon had gone 1-for-21 over the Rockies' prior five contests. The outfielder got back on track Tuesday, with his base knock in the bottom of the sixth inning giving him 1,000 hits for his career. He added another single later in the contest to finish with his first two-hit performance since July 29.

Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, a walk, a stolen base and two strikeouts in Tuesday's win over the Tigers.

Ohtani helped erase an early 2-0 deficit with his three-run shot in the first inning for his 12th homer of the year. While he continues to try to work his way back to the mound, the 24-year-old has gotten off to a blazing start at the plate in August. In six games in the month, he's slashing .400/.500/.900 with three homers, a double, seven RBI and three stolen bases.

Reyes started in right field and went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, three RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's 11-5 win over Milwaukee.

Reyes surprisingly got the nod over Travis Jankowski despite a right-hander toeing the rubber for the Brewers. The latter's production at the plate has really tailed off following a hot start to the year (.255/.331/.325), so it is possible that Reyes could get an extended look in right, at least until Wil Myers (foot) returns from the disabled list. The Friars are scheduled to face another righty Wednesday, which should shed light on whether or not the rookie has gained a regular role in the outfield.

Stanton went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's extra-innings win over the White Sox.

Stanton's two-run homer -- his 26th of the year -- came in the 10th inning off Tyler Danish in a tie game the Yankees would go on to win in 13 innings. This was Stanton's fourth multi-hit game in his last six contests, and his slash line now sits at .279/.343/.513 on the year. Stanton has the third-most strikeouts (147) in the majors, but he nonetheless ranks in the top 10 among MLB outfielders in home runs, runs (70) and RBI (69).

Martinez went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and four RBI in Tuesday's 10-7 win over the Blue Jays.

Martinez's three-run home run in the top of the eighth inning gave the Red Sox a brief 5-3 lead. The slugger has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games (.365 average with five home runs) and has a league-leading 34 home runs and 97 RBI to go along with a .328/.394/.650 slash line for the season.

Jimenez (illness) won't return to the lineup Tuesday for Triple-A Charlotte as he continues to battle flu-like symptoms, Scot Gregor of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.

Jimenez has been held out of the lineup since Sunday as he deals with the illness, but isn't expected to be sidelined for an extended period of time. The 21-year-old is still considered day-to-day as he nears a promotion to the big leagues.

Ohtani (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.

Ohtani was cleared to begin a throwing program July 19 and Saturday's bullpen will be his first work off a mound with a baseball. A positive step Saturday would keep alive the possibility of Ohtani pitching again this season.
