Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM
Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Riding five-game hitting streak
Following a 2-for-5 night that included an RBI double and a run against the Yankees on Wednesday, Choi is 6-for-20 (.300) with two doubles, two home runs, three RBI, a walk and three runs over his current five-game hitting streak.
The 27-year-old continues to see fairly regular opportunities while logging the majority of his time at designated hitter. Choi is also generating impactful hits at an impressive clip, with 11 (six doubles, five home runs) of his 23 hits going for extra bases.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Completes another bullpen
Ohtani (elbow) threw another bullpen session Wednesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Ohtani threw at near-max effort while hitters stood in, but didn't swing, for perspective. He's expected to be back in San Diego in time for Wednesday's game, where he'll serve as an option off the bench. Ohtani continues to hit for the Angels, and there's still a chance he could return to the mound before the end of the season.

Twins' Byron Buxton: Homers in return at Triple-A
Buxton went 3-for-5 with a home run Tuesday for Triple-A Rochester. He was activated from the DL after missing time with a wrist injury.
If Buxton can stay hot at the plate and stay healthy (which has been his issue this season), he could be in line for a promotion in September or earlier. The Twins would likely love to see him in the majors again to figure out where he fits into the team's plans in 2019.

Twins' Byron Buxton: Activated from DL at Rochester
Buxton (wrist) was activated from the disabled list at Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
His latest setback ended up costing Buxton exactly two weeks. Buxton originally hurt his wrist July 12 and only played in three games upon his return in late July before renewed soreness put him back on the shelf. He has also missed time with migraines and a toe injury, but the 24-year-old still has time to salvage something from this season and get the arrow moving back upward heading into 2019.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Tosses another bullpen
Ohtani (elbow) threw a 33-pitch bullpen session at around 70 percent Monday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Ohtani stated that he felt good following his latest throwing session, as he's still rehabbing a Grade 2 UCL sprain in his throwing elbow. Although he continues to serve as a viable option in the designated hitter slot, a return to the mound prior to the end of the season isn't out of the question, especially if he continues to make solid progress. Ohtani's next step will be to face live hitters.

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Out of lineup with no DH
Ohtani is not in the lineup Monday against the Padres.
Ohtani will head to the bench for Monday's series opener with no DH spot available in the Padres' National League ballpark. With the Angels playing a three-game set in San Diego, look for the 24-year-old to rejoin the starting lineup Thursday against the Rangers.

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Ramping up bullpen sessions
Ohtani's (elbow) next bullpen session will come Monday according to manager Mike Scioscia, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.
Ohtani's elbow is holding up fine enough for hitting (as evidenced by his name in the lineup Sunday as the designated hitter), but it seems like he's also ramping up his pitching. Ardaya commented that the catcher will be squatting in Monday's session and Scioscia said that his throwing will be "a little more than touch and feel" in terms of intensity. It's unclear how close Ohtani is to throwing in games again, but it seems like a return to the mound this season isn't entirely out of the question as things stand now.

Jorge Soler DH | LAA
Royals' Jorge Soler: Shifts to 60-day disabled list
Soler (toe) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Saturday, Rustin Dodd of The Athletic Kansas City reports.
The move won't change much for Soler, who will still be eligible to come off the disabled list next week, although that is extremely unlikely. The 26-year-old is not near a minor-league rehab assignment and is looking at a return in late August, at the absolute earliest.

J.D. Martinez DH | NYM
Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: Unloads two homers in Game 2
Martinez went 2-for-2 with two home runs, three RBI and two walks in the second game of a doubleheader against the Orioles on Saturday.
After falling flat with an 0-for-4 outing in Game 1, Martinez popped one off Yefry Ramirez in the fourth inning and Mike Wright in the seventh. Delivering a .332/.400/.666 slash line with 37 homers, 104 RBI and 87 runs -- accumulated across just 487 plate appearances -- Martinez has launched himself into the American League MVP conversation.

Michael Brantley LF | HOU
Indians' Michael Brantley: Homers in three-hit game
Brantley went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in the Indians' 3-1 win over the White Sox on Saturday.
Brantley took a meatball of a James Shields curveball into the right-field bullpen during the sixth inning. His 13th homer of the year topped off a three-knock effort that pushed his slash line up to .297/.349/.468 over 458 plate appearances. He's added eight stolen bases and 32 walks while striking out only 38 times.
