  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TB

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Resting Saturday

Jimenez isn't in the White Sox's lineup for Saturday's game against Miami.

Jimenez will get a breather Saturday after going 7-for-19 with two runs scored over his last six games. His absence will allow Gavin Sheets to serve as Chicago's designated hitter while batting fourth.

  • Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Clutch homer versus Yankees

Yoshida went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-3 extra-inning win over the Yankees.

With the Red Sox down 3-1 in the ninth inning, Yoshida crushed a Clay Holmes sinker deep to right field, tying the game and setting the stage for further heroics from Ceddanne Rafaela in the 10th. It was Yoshida's third homer of the season and first since April 20, snapping a 21-game drought that included a six-week absence due to a thumb injury. The 30-year-old may be feeling 100 percent again, however -- over his last nine games, he's batting .364 (12-for-33) with two doubles in addition to Friday's long ball.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | SD

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Idle vs. southpaw

O'Hearn is not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Athletics.

O'Hearn will retreat to the bench Friday with Oakland sending southpaw Hogan Harris to the mound. O'Hearn is coming off an 0-for-4 effort with two strikeouts in Thursday's 7-3 loss to the Mariners, but since June 1 he is slashing .326/.381/.516 with four home runs and 19 RBI over 95 at-bats. Adley Rutschman will serve as the designated hitter Friday and bat second.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Mariners' Mitch Garver: Smacks homer Thursday

Garver went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 7-3 win over the Orioles.

Garver didn't start Tuesday or Wednesday due to a sore wrist. He played in a non-defensive capacity Thursday and lifted a seventh-inning homer as the designated hitter while batting second in the lineup -- the highest spot he's hit all year. The 33-year-old struggled with a .187 batting average in June, though he slugged .453 with five homers, five doubles and 17 RBI. Overall, he's posted a .177/.295/.367 slash line with 11 long balls, 33 RBI, 28 runs scored and 12 doubles across 281 plate appearances.

Mariners' Mitch Garver: Back in Seattle lineup

Garver (wrist) will start at designated hitter and bat second in Thursday's game versus the Orioles.

Garver was used as a pinch hitter in Wednesday's game and is now back in the lineup after missing two starts with a sore wrist. He and his teammates will be tasked with solving Baltimore ace Corbin Burnes.

Mariners' Mitch Garver: Makes pinch-hit cameo Wednesday

Garver (wrist) entered Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Orioles as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and singled in his one plate appearance.

Garver was out of the starting nine for the second straight day after being hit by a pitch in the wrist Sunday against the Twins, but his ability to step into the batter's box and put some good wood on the ball would seem to bode well for his recovery. The veteran offseason addition, who snapped a brief 0-for-9 skid with his timely knock, could find himself back in the lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Orioles, although manager Scott Servais said before Wednesday's game that Garver wasn't fully pain-free yet, per MLB.com.

  • Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Sitting out Thursday

Malloy is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Minnesota.

He's being given a day off after starting each of the previous four contests. Riley Greene will get a start in the designated hitter slot for the Tigers.

  • Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Swipes bag in big win

Malloy went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the Twins.

Malloy singled in the third for his only hit of the game and swiped second base for the first steal of his MLB career. Malloy does have a hit in four straight games now, but overall, it's been a struggle for the 24-year-old to get acclimated to big-league pitching so far. He's slashing .197/.284/.394 with four homers, eight RBI, eight runs and a 7:31 BB:K in 81 plate appearances.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | SD

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Stays hot in win

O'Hearn went 2-for-3 with a double, a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over Seattle while also drawing a walk.

O'Hearn reached in each of his first three trips to the plate, smacking a two-run double in the third and a solo homer in the fifth, with the latter extending Baltimore's lead to four runs. It was the first baseman's third consecutive game with multiple hits, while he's also reached safely in 15 straight. O'Hearn is now 4-for-7 (.571) with two doubles, a homer and three RBI through just two games to open the month of July after batting .321 with 16 RBI in June.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Homers in third straight game

Alvarez went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, a walk, three runs and three RBI in a 9-2 victory versus the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Alvarez was a constant thorn in Toronto's side in the contest. He plated Houston's first run with a third-inning double, added a tiebreaking solo shot in the sixth inning and produced another RBI with a double in the eighth. Alvarez has gone deep in each of his past three contests, batting .545 (6-for-11) with three long balls, eight RBI and six runs over that span.
