Matt Thaiss C | BOS
Angels' Matt Thaiss: Homers in Monday's win
Thaiss went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Yankees.
Thaiss got the Angels on the board with his sixth-inning blast. The catcher has hit two of his six homers this year within his last seven games. He's at a solid .254/.367/.387 slash line with 23 RBI, 27 runs scored, two stolen bases and six doubles through 215 plate appearances. Thaiss has started at catcher in three of the Angels' four games since the All-Star break, suggesting he's more firmly in the No. 1 role over Chad Wallach than he was in June.

Connor Wong C | BOS
Red Sox's Connor Wong: Drives in three in win
Wong went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Monday's 7-0 win over the Athletics.
Wong has a pair of three-hit efforts in July, matching his total from the first three months of the season. He's hitting .343 (12-for-35) this month, though he also has a 1:14 BB:K over his last 12 contests. The catcher has a .242/.298/.411 slash line, six home runs, 23 RBI, 33 runs scored, two stolen bases and 19 doubles through 239 plate appearances overall. Wong should remain the Red Sox's primary catcher until Reese McGuire (oblique) returns.

Reese McGuire C | CHW
Red Sox's Reese McGuire: Catches side session Monday
McGuire (oblique) caught two innings for Corey Kluber on Monday, Mike Monaco of ESPN reports.
McGuire continues to progress in his recovery from a right oblique strain, and he's likely closing in on a rehab assignment. However, the team has yet to officially disclose when he'll be sent out.

Salvador Perez C | KC
Royals' Salvador Perez: Has Grade 1 plus hamstring strain
Perez has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 plus left hamstring strain, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.
Perez had to depart Sunday's game versus the Rays with the injury and is not in Monday's lineup against the Tigers. It sounds like the Royals are optimistic he can avoid a stint on the injured list, though, with a return in the next few days possible. Freddy Fermin is catching Monday.

Christian Vazquez C | HOU
Twins' Christian Vazquez: On bench Monday
Vazquez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mariners.
Vazquez and Ryan Jeffers have now alternated turns behind the plate through the Twins' first four games out of the All-Star break. A rough timeshare between the two could remain in place for the foreseeable future, but Vazquez isn't likely to fade from the picture completely after signing a three-year, $30 million deal with the Twins over the winter.

Jake Rogers C | DET
Tigers' Jake Rogers: On bench Monday
Rogers is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.
The Tigers' catching situation has turned into more of a timeshare coming out of the All-Star break, as Rogers and Eric Haase have now picked up two starts apiece. Rogers is regarded as the superior defender and owns an .883 OPS since the beginning of June, so consider him Option 1A for the time being.

Austin Hedges C | CLE
Pirates' Austin Hedges: Headed for No. 2 role
Pittsburgh manager Derek Shelton confirmed Monday that Hedges is in line to serve as the Pirates' No. 2 catcher moving forward after Endy Rodriguez was promoted from Triple-A Indianapolis, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
Though Rodriguez will ascend to the top of the depth chart following his call-up, Hedges won't be removed from the catching mix entirely. Shelton noted that he still expects Hedges to catch a couple of times per week, and the veteran is also likely to be deployed behind the dish on select occasions late in close games when defense is of greater importance. Hedges' skills as a pitch framer and game caller may be the only attributes keeping him on the Pittsburgh roster at this point; he's slashing a lowly .175/.226/.227 over 177 plate appearances on the season.

Endy Rodriguez C | PIT
Pirates' Endy Rodriguez: Will receive bulk of catcher starts
Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
Pirates manager Derek Shelton noted that Rodriguez will see the bulk of the starts at catcher moving forward, with Austin Hedges starting a couple times per week. Henry Davis still hasn't started a game at catcher since his promotion. Rodriguez got off to a slow start this season at Indianapolis while battling a forearm issue, but he had come on strong in slashing .371/.461/.565 with two home runs over his last 15 games. He should be rostered in two-catcher formats. Rodriguez is batting seventh in his major-league debut Monday versus the Guardians.
