  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: X-rays negative

X-rays on Dingler's right hand came back negative following his removal from Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Dingler was pulled from the game after taking a foul tip off his thumb in the first inning. The Tigers will run a few more tests on him Thursday just to be sure, but it seems as though he escaped the incident without a serious injury. If he needs to miss any extra time, Jake Rogers would be the next man up to start behind the dish.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Leaves Wednesday's game

Dingler was removed from Wednesday's game against the Athletics due to an apparent right thumb injury, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Dingler took a foul tip off his right thumb in the first inning. He's gone back to the clubhouse to undergo more tests on his injury, and the Tigers should have an update on Dingler during or shortly after Wednesday's game. Jake Rogers will take over at catcher for the rest of the contest in Dingler's absence.

  • Guardians' Patrick Bailey: Resting Wednesday

Bailey is not in Cleveland's starting lineup against Minnesota on Wednesday.

Bailey will get a breather while Austin Hedges starts behind home plate to do the catching for right-hander Slade Cecconi. Bailey is slashing .179/.232/.250 with two home runs and 12 RBI across 182 plate appearances this season.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

    Rangers' Danny Jansen: Resumes throwing

Jansen (forearm) played catch Wednesday for the first time in two weeks, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

Jansen noted that the plan for him moving forward is to throw every other day and see how his right forearm responds. He has been on the 10-day injured list since June 6 due to a right forearm strain, which has allowed Elias Diaz to surpass Kyle Higashioka as the Rangers' primary catcher in Jansen's absence.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Sitting again Wednesday

Goodman (wrist) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

Goodman was a late scratch from the lineup Tuesday due to a jammed wrist suffered during a play at the plate Monday, and the injury will now officially cost him another start. Brett Sullivan will fill in at catcher and bat ninth Wednesday.

  • Dodgers' Dalton Rushing: On bench Wednesday

Rushing isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against Colorado, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Rushing will get a day off Wednesday after going 3-for-8 with a walk, an RBI and a pair of runs scored through the first two games of the series. Eliezer Alfonzo will take over at catcher and bat ninth.

  • Orioles' Chadwick Tromp: Clears waivers, accepts assignment

Tromp cleared outright waivers Wednesday and accepted an assignment to Triple-A Norfolk, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Baltimore removed Tromp from its 40-man roster last Friday after Adley Rutschman was reinstated from the 7-day injured list in a corresponding move. Tromp will end up sticking around in Baltimore's organization and head to the Triple-A level, where he's slashed .182/.270/.341 with three home runs and 13 RBI in 100 plate appearances between Gwinnett and Norfolk this season.

  • Tigers' Thayron Liranzo: Missing Futures Game with injury

Liranzo will not play in the All-Star Futures Game on Sunday due to a left finger laceration, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Liranzo was placed on Double-A Erie's 7-day injured list July 3 due to the finger injury. He hasn't progressed enough in his recovery to represent the American League in Sunday's Futures Game and has been replaced by Max Anderson of Triple-A Toledo. Liranzo is slashing .211/.343/.429 with one steal, nine home runs and 31 RBI across 201 plate appearances in Double-A this season.

  • Henry Davis C | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Stepping in as No. 1 catcher

Davis will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

Davis had already started behind the plate in two of the Pirates' previous three games, but Endy Rodriguez's (glute) move to the 10-day injured list Wednesday will clear the way for the former to serve as the team's primary backstop through the All-Star break. For the season, Davis is slashing an abysmal .155/.250/.323 slash line, but he's been much better since the beginning of June with a .758 OPS over 17 games.

  • Pirates' Rafael Flores: Moves up to majors

The Pirates recalled Flores from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Flores will provide the Pirates with an extra option behind the plate beyond Henry Davis after Endy Rodriguez (glute) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. The 25-year-old Flores -- who is also capable of playing first base -- was up with the Pirates for a brief spell in June and produced a pair of extra-base hits in his three at-bats. He's cobbled together a .233/.367/.345 slash line with four home runs and no stolen bases across 281 plate appearances at Triple-A this season.
