Dingler was removed from Wednesday's game against the Athletics due to an apparent right thumb injury, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Dingler took a foul tip off his right thumb in the first inning. He's gone back to the locker room to undergo more tests on his injury, and the Tigers should have an update on Dingler during or shortly after Wednesday's game. Jake Rogers will take over at catcher for the rest of the contest in Dingler's absence.
