  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Receiving afternoon off

Bailey is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Bailey will get a breather for the day game after he caught all 11 innings of the Giants' 14-5 win on Tuesday night while going 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run. Sam Huff will handle the catching duties in the series finale in Chicago.

  • Austin Wynns C | ATH

Reds' Austin Wynns: Starts at first base

Wynns started at first base and went 2-for-3 with a double in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Atlanta.

Wynns, the Reds' third catcher, maintained his roster spot after Tyler Stephenson was activated off the injured list last week. That was partially as insurance for Stephenson, who has seen time at catcher and DH since returning, but also because Wynns has produced offensively. He's batting .417 with a 1.184 OPS, three home runs and 11 RBI through 13 games; however, his .545 BABIP suggests less productive days are coming.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: No usage off bench Tuesday

Moreno (side) went unused off the bench in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Mets, though he was considered available to play, MLB.com reports.

Moreno was scratched from the lineup before the first pitch and replaced by Jose Herrera, who drew the start at catcher. The injury is considered minor, but Moreno is likely to sit for Wednesday's afternoon contest, per Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com.

  • Jose Herrera C | TEX

Diamondbacks' Jose Herrera: Fills in Tuesday

Herrera started at catcher and went 2-for-3 with a walk and a double in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Mets.

Herrera replaced Gabriel Moreno, who was scratched with lingering soreness in his left side stemming from a play at the plate during Monday's game. Moreno's injury is not considered serious, and he was available off the bench Tuesday if needed, per MLB.com.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Three hits in win

O'Hoppe went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored in Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Blue Jays.

O'Hoppe's third hit of the game knocked in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, and he came around to score on Yoan Moncada's three-run homer. Over his last six games, O'Hoppe has gone 9-for-20 (.450) with two long balls and four RBI. The catcher is up to a .294/.333/.569 slash line with nine homers, 16 RBI, 13 runs scored and a double across 29 contests this season. He appears set for a breakout campaign, as he's nearly halfway to his career-high total of 20 homers from last season.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Dealing with side soreness

Moreno didn't play in Tuesday's game against the Mets due to left side soreness, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.

Scratching Moreno from the lineup before Tuesday's contest was originally reported to be a managerial decision, but it now appears Moreno is dealing with an injury that stems from a play at the plate Monday. The team is labelling him as day-to-day for now, and Jose Herrera will start at catcher for any additional games Moreno misses.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Brings home three runs

Bailey went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 14-5 extra innings win over the Cubs.

Bailey gave the Giants a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly that brought LaMonte Wade home. Bailey came up to bat twice in the 11th frame, driving in a run in each of his plate appearances as part of San Francisco's nine-run inning. Bailey has reached base safely in five straight games, and over that span he has gone 6-for-17 with three runs scored and three RBI.

  • Miguel Amaya C | CHC

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Smacks two-run homer

Amaya went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 14-5 extra innings loss to San Francisco.

Amaya got the Cubs on the board in the third inning, when he took Justin Verlander deep to left-center field for a two-run home run. It was Amaya's third home run of the season, and the Cubs' backup catcher has started the year slashing .257/.284/.471 with 10 runs scored and 16 RBI in 75 plate appearances.

  • Brewers' William Contreras: Getting X-rays on finger

Manager Pat Murphy said Tuesday that Contreras has been playing through a finger injury, and it's now bothering him enough to warrant taking him in for X-rays, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

Murphy added that Contreras' finger has begun to affect his ability to keep pitches in his glove and hang onto his bat while swinging. More information on the 27-year-old's status will be available once the results of his tests come back, but the Brewers may look to use Eric Haase behind the plate more often in the near future if Contreras' finger continues to be an issue.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Belts grand slam

Wells went 2-for-5 with a home run, five RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's win against San Diego.

Wells did all of his damage during the Yankees' massive 10-run seventh inning. He knocked an RBI single, swiped second base and scored a run before coming back to the plate and ripping a grand slam. It was his first multi-hit game since April 27 and his third long ball over his last seven appearances. Wells is slashing .220/.273/.486 with 14 extra-base hits and 23 RBI through 32 games.
