Hedges went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Marlins.

His fourth-inning shot -- the catcher's first long ball in nearly two months -- gave the Padres a 3-0 lead, and Chris Paddack and the bullpen took it from there. Hedges is slashing only .187/.250/.325 through 62 games with seven homers and 25 RBI, and he'll continue losing playing time to Francisco Mejia if he can't supply more consistent offense.

Casali (knee) is expected to land on the 10-day injured list, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Casali exited Monday's series opener against the Cubs with right knee soreness, and while the backstop downplayed the severity of the issue, it turns out it will force him to miss at least 10 days. With Tucker Barnhart (oblique) and Kyle Farmer (head) also dealing with injuries, Juan Graterol should handle the majority of catching duties for the Reds.

Gallagher will sit Wednesday against the White Sox.

With Martin Maldonado traded to the Cubs, Gallagher is set to split time with Meibrys Viloria behind the plate. Gallagher would seem to be ahead on the depth chart -- considering he was the one on the big-league roster since the start of the season -- though the exact playing time split remains to be seen. Neither catcher makes for a very appealing fantasy option.

Mejia is not starting Wednesday against the Marlins.

Mejia has moved into the clear top spot behind the plate in San Diego, starting four straight games prior to Wednesday's contest. He's hit a respectable .232/.306/.411 in 18 games since returning to the big leagues in mid-June. Austin Hedges takes over behind the plate Wednesday.

Barnes is not starting Wednesday against the Phillies, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Barnes will take a seat for Wednesday's night contest with an afternoon game on tap for Thursday. In his place, Russell Martin is starting at catcher and hitting eighth.

Jansen is not starting Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Jansen has climbed out of an extended slump to slash .373/.393/.780 over his last 16 games, numbers partly comprised of six home runs. Luke Maile starts behind the plate in his absence.

Realmuto is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Dodgers.

Realmuto will head to the bench for Wednesday's night game with the Phillies slated to play an afternoon contest Thursday. The backstop has started the past four games behind the dish, going 3-for-14 (.214) with a home run and two RBI during that stretch. In his absence, Andrew Knapp is starting at catcher and hitting eighth Wednesday.

Barnhart (oblique) is currently rehabbing in Cincinnati, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Barnhart has been on the shelf since the end of June with a right oblique strain. The expectation is that the backstop won't be ready to return until August.

Grandal is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Braves.

Grandal, who is 1-for-13 (.077) in five games since the All-Star break, will sit for Wednesday's matinee contest after catching all nine innings during Tuesday's 13-1 win. Manny Pina is starting behind the dish and hitting sixth in place of Grandal.

Diaz is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Cardinals.

Diaz is in the midst of an 0-for-13 slump. Jacob Stallings will start behind the dish and bat eighth.
