Contreras exited Friday's game against the Reds due to mild right thigh tightness, Russell Dorsey of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Contreras hit a single in the fifth inning Friday, but he exited with a trainer once he reached first base. While the Cubs described his injury as minor, it's not clear whether Contreras will be forced to miss additional time. Prior to his departure, Contreras went 2-for-3 with a double.

Realmuto was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Mets due to left hand soreness, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Realmuto was a late scratch Friday and was replaced behind the dish by Andrew Knapp. It's not yet clear whether Realmuto will be able to return to the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.

Stassi isn't starting Friday's game against the Mariners, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Nola is likely to eventually fill an important role for the Padres, as he's hit .270/.346/.460 through his first 128 games, numbers that would play anywhere, not just behind the plate. He made his season debut off the bench Wednesday after missing the start of the year with a broken finger and will wait at least one more day before making his first start of the year. Victor Caratini remains the starting catcher Friday with Yu Darvish on the mound.

Jansen is not in the lineup Friday against the Braves.

The 26-year-old remains hitless in 33 at-bats over his past 12 appearances and will head to the bench Friday. Alejandro Kirk will start behind the plate and has hits in each of his past three games, so he could displace Jansen atop the depth chart.

Realmuto was scratched from the lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Mets for undisclosed reasons, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Marchan will join the team with Didi Gregorius (ribs) landing on the COVID-19 injured list in a corresponding move. He's unlikely to get many opportunities during his time with the team, as he's stuck behind J.T. Realmuto and Andrew Knapp on the catcher depth chart.

Garver is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Royals.

The 30-year-old will take a seat after starting the past two games with Ben Rortvedt called up to make his major-league debut Friday. Garver has a chance to secure his starting spot following the demotion of Ryan Jeffers, but Rortvedt should receive some opportunities if Garver's offensive struggles persist.

Rortvedt was recalled from the alternate training site Friday and is starting behind the plate against the Royals, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.

The 23-year-old will take the place of Ryan Jeffers, who was demoted to the alternate site after a slow start to the season. Despite starting Friday, Rortvedt should work as Minnesota's secondary catcher, but he could see some starts against right-handed pitching, especially if starter Mitch Garver continues to struggle at the plate.
