Contreras went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Pirates.

Contreras hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to put the Cubs up 1-0. Then with Chicago down 2-1 in the seventh, the catcher doubled in two more runs to help snap his team's seven-game losing streak. Contreras has been locked in lately, as he's batting .310 across his last 10 games. The 29-year-old looks primed to finish the season on a positive note and turn his attention toward 2022, when he should again be one of the top fantasy options at his position.

Perez was diagnosed with a right ankle sprain after leaving Wednesday's game against Cleveland, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Perez appeared to suffer the injury when he slipped on the dugout steps, and it's unclear how the issue will affect his availability for the final four games of the season. The 31-year-old went 1-for-2 with a three-run homer -- his MLB-leading and franchise-record-tying 48th long ball of the season -- before leaving Wednesday's contest.

Atlanta promoted Langeliers from Double-A Mississippi to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

After batting .258 with 22 home runs and 52 RBI in 92 games to help lead Mississippi to a Double-A South title, Langeliers will just to the minors' highest level for Gwinnett's final five games of the campaign. The 23-year-old will likely head into 2022 as Gwinnett's No. 1 backstop, and he could be a candidate for his first promotion to the big leagues later in the summer.

Perez went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run before leaving Wednesday's game against Cleveland with an apparent injury, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

Perez clubbed his 48th homer of the season -- tying a Royals season record -- with a three-run shot during the first inning, but he appeared to slip on the dugout steps after the top of the second inning. The 31-year-old immediately received some assistance yet still batted in the bottom of the frame, though he struck out and was subsequently replaced in the field.

Murphy isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

Murphy had started each of the last three games, and he went 1-for-9 with two runs, an RBI and a walk. Cal Raleigh will start behind the dish and bat ninth.

Mejia will start at catcher and bat ninth Wednesday against the Astros.

With the Rays having secured the best record in the American League, manager Kevin Cash is expected to rest several regulars over the final week of the season, including No. 1 catcher Mike Zunino. As a result of Zunino getting more frequent days off of late, Mejia has picked up more work. He'll pick up his fourth start in six games after going 4-for-10 with two doubles, a walk, two RBI and two runs in his previous three starts.

Knizner will start at catcher and bat eighth Wednesday against the Brewers, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Knizner will remain in the lineup for a third straight game while Yadier Molina continues to manage a sore shoulder. With the Cardinals having clinched a wild-card berth, Molina could get a few more days off during the team's final four regular-season contests, so Knizner may receive at least a couple more starts beyond Wednesday.

Perez isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Perez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout Tuesday, but he'll head back to the bench as he continues to alternate starts behind the dish. Austin Hedges will start at catcher and bat eighth.

Stassi isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Stassi went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a strikeout in Tuesday's series opener, but he'll retreat to the bench for the second time in the last three games. Kurt Suzuki will start behind the dish and bat cleanup.

The Mets placed Nido on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a sprained left thumb, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The same injury has previously forced Nido to the shelf on two other occasions in recent weeks, and it'll now result in his 2021 campaign coming to an end with five games still left on the Mets' schedule. New York called up Patrick Mazeika from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move, and he'll serve as the No. 2 catcher behind James McCann the rest of the way. Nido concludes the 2021 campaign with a .222/.261/.327 slash line, three home runs, one stolen base, 16 runs and 13 RBI in 161 plate appearances over 58 games.
