Huff was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.

Huff appeared in 30 major-league games earlier in the year and hit .260 with a homer, five runs, five RBI and a stolen base. He was sent down in mid-July but will provide depth behind the dish for the Rangers after Meibrys Viloria was optioned to Round Rock on Monday.

Maldonado (illness) will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Rangers.

Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Gets breather for day game

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.

  • Elias Diaz C | TEX

    Rockies' Elias Diaz: Resting Monday

Diaz is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.

The Rockies face a quick turnaround for the series opener with the Brewers, as the Labor Day contest begins at 4:10 p.m. ET following a doubleheader Sunday. • Red Sox's Reese McGuire: Sitting again Monday

McGuire will sit Monday versus the Rays.

McGuire will take a seat for a second game in a row Monday as the Red Sox start their three-game series with the Rays. Mejia is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Mejia will sit for the third time in four games while Christian Bethancourt gets another turn behind the dish. The Rays haven't yet indicated that Bethancourt is their preferred option behind the plate, but expect a roughly even timeshare between the two backstops to remain in place for the time being. Mejia hasn't bolstered his case for earning a larger share of the playing time by slashing .254/.302/.339 in 18 games since he returned from the injured list Aug. 5.

Dodgers' Will Smith: Goes deep again

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Another clutch hit Sunday

Langeliers went 1-for-4 with a two-run single in a win over the Orioles on Sunday.

Langeliers' third-inning single plated both Vimael Machin and Stephen Vogt, staking the Athletics to a 3-0 lead at the time. The rookie now has a trio of multi-RBI efforts in his last nine games thanks to a .375 average across eight plate appearances with runners in scoring position during that span.
