Gomes is starting at catcher and batting eighth in Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Gomes sat out Saturday and is seeing his playing time against righties shrink, but he'll return to the lineup for Sunday's matchup against southpaw Clayton Kershaw. Tucker Barnhart heads to the bench to make room for Gomes. The two veterans should continue to split playing time behind the plate.

Rogers is starting at catcher and batting eighth in Sunday's game against the Orioles.

With Eric Haase getting the series finale off, Rogers will enter the lineup. Rogers started the season off with two home runs in his first four games but hasn't gone deep in seven contests since then, though he has managed a .294 batting average during the most recent stretch.

Grandal is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Tampa Bay.

Grandal went 4-for-17 with two doubles, a solo homer and two additional runs while starting the past five games, and he'll take a seat for Sunday's series finale in Tampa Bay. Seby Zavala will receive the start behind the plate against Rays righty Zach Eflin.

Stephenson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Stephenson started the past six games and will step out of the lineup after he went 5-for-22 with a double, an RBI a run and 11 strikeouts during that span. Luke Maile will work behind the plate in Sunday's series finale at Pittsburgh.

Haase is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Haase has produced a lowly .542 OPS through 49 plate appearances on the season, and because the Tigers value him mostly for his production with the bat rather than his work behind the plate, his ongoing offensive slump is beginning to cost him playing time. The defensive-minded Jake Rogers will get another turn behind the dish as the two backstops have now made four starts apiece at catcher over the last eight games.

Murphy is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Murphy started the past 12 games and will receive a breather Sunday after he went 12-for-43 with six doubles, five home runs, 13 RBI and 11 runs during that stretch. Chadwick Tromp will take over behind the plate for Atlanta.

Trevino is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Trevino will sit for the second time in the series, but he's started in three of the Yankees' last five games overall and still appears to be viewed as the team's No. 1 catcher, despite slashing an ugly .205/.239/.318 through his 46 plate appearances on the season. Kyle Higashioka will spell Trevino behind the dish in the series finale.

McGuire underwent X-rays on his right hand Saturday, which came back negative. "It's a little swollen right now, a little bruised," McGuire said.

McGuire took a foul tip off the hand in the eighth inning of Saturday's loss to Milwaukee but stayed in the game. He entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning for Connor Wong, and Boston did not have another catcher available. McGuire added that he'd ice the hand and be ready for Sunday's game.

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

With Sunday's series finale beginning at 12:05 p.m. ET, Diaz will get a much-needed breather after catching each of the Rockies' previous three contests. Brian Serven will form a battery with Rockies starting pitcher Jose Urena on Sunday.

Thaiss went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in a loss to the Royals on Saturday.

Thaiss enjoyed a positive night at the plate, scoring the Angels' first run in the third inning and belting a two-run homer to right field in the eighth. The hits were his first of the campaign -- he entered Saturday having gone 0-for-12 through his first six contests. Thaiss is likely to see more time behind the plate with Logan O'Hoppe (shoulder) on the injured list and Max Stassi (hip) still not ready to return from his IL stint.
