  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Belts first homer of 2025

Alvarez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Nationals.

Alvarez belted a two-run shot to right field in the second inning and was responsible for the only runs in Saturday's game. Alvarez made his 2025 debut Friday after missing the start of the season due to a fractured bone in his left hand and is 2-for-8 through two games.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Not starting Saturday

Bailey isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rangers, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bailey will take a day to regroup Saturday after going 2-for-16 with two RBI and seven strikeouts over the past seven days. Sam Huff will take over behind the plate and bat ninth.

  • Rockies' Braxton Fulford: Back in majors

Fulford was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.

He was optioned just Friday but was quickly added back to the active roster after Aaron Schunk (groin strain) landed on the injured list. This will free up Hunter Goodman for more work at designated hitter in the short term. Fulford has one home run and five strikeouts in eight MLB plate appearances.

  • Hunter Goodman RF | COL

Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Scores three runs

Goodman went 2-for-3 with two walks, two doubles and three runs scored Friday against the Reds.

Goodman's production has come in waves this season, but he's performed well across his last 10 games. He had at least one hit in eight of his last nine games entering Friday, going 9-for-33 with two home runs, six RBI and six runs scored over that span. Goodman's production also hasn't come solely thanks to Coors Field.

  • Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Impressive start continues in win

Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in Friday's win over Seattle.

The rookie catcher continued his impressive start to his major-league career, adding his first home run Friday. Ramirez now has an extra-base hit and multiple knocks in each of his first three games, and he also has two walks and a stolen base through 12 plate appearances. With Nick Fortes (oblique) and Rob Brantly (lat) both on the injured list, Ramirez -- who is one of Miami's top prospects -- has an opportunity to establish himself at the highest level.

  • Rockies' Braxton Fulford: Optioned to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Fulford to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.

Fulford was promoted to the majors April 14 and smacked his first big-league home run this past Sunday against the Nationals. He appeared in four games (two starts) for the Rockies as the third catcher behind Hunter Goodman and Jacob Stallings. Colorado selected Owen Miller's contract from Albuquerque in a corresponding move.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

Dodgers' Will Smith: In Friday's lineup

Smith (wrist) is starting behind home plate and batting sixth against the Pirates on Friday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Smith injured his left wrist during Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Cubs while tagging Ian Happ at home plate in the sixth. Austin Barnes got the start Wednesday, but after Thursday's off day, Smith has been cleared to return to the lineup for Friday's series opener. Smith has started the season slashing .350/.453/.567 with one stolen base, eight runs scored, three home runs and 15 RBI in 75 plate appearances.

  • Padres' Martin Maldonado: Sitting Friday

Maldonado is not in the Padres' starting lineup against the Rays on Friday.

Maldonado has started in more games as of late, but he'll rest Friday while Elias Diaz starts behind home plate and bats eighth against Rays right-hander Shane Baz. Maldonado is slashing .225/.244/.300 with one home run and two RBI in 41 plate appearances this season.

  • Ivan Herrera C | STL

Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Aiming for rehab games next week

Herrera (knee) hopes to begin a rehab assignment May 1, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Herrera is making good progress in his recovery from a left knee bone bruise, having run, hit and caught off a pitching machine this week without any setbacks. He should require only a few rehab games before returning to the Cardinals' lineup.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Activated ahead of season debut

The Mets activated Alvarez (hand) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Alvarez is starting at catcher and batting seventh Friday versus the Nationals in what will be his season debut after he missed the first four weeks of the season following surgery on a fractured hamate bone in his left hand. The catcher went 7-for-39 with one home run across 10 rehab contests.
