  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Slugs first homer Monday

Raleigh went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Blue Jays on Monday.

Raleigh was one of the only bright spots for the struggling Mariners, belting a 367-foot shot to right field in the ninth inning to close out the scoring on the night. The talented backstop, like many of his teammates, is underperforming at the plate early, but he's now hit safely in four of the last five games.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Tracking toward late-April return

Jansen (wrist) is tracking toward a late-April return, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.

Jansen has progressed to taking batting practice as he works his way back from a small fracture in his right wrist. He will need a handful of rehab games before returning and it's not clear when that rehab assignment will begin, but Jansen should be activated within the next couple weeks if all continues to go well.

  • Astros' Victor Caratini: Drills first home run

Caratini went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and two runs scored in Monday's win over the Rangers.

Caratini's three-run shot in the fifth inning was his first as an Astro. He's made just four appearances so far this season, registering a .364/.364/.636 slash line in the process. He should continue to be used sparingly behind Yainer Diaz.

  • Yainer Diaz C | HOU

Astros' Yainer Diaz: Hits bench Monday

Diaz is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Diaz made eight starts behind the plate and two at designated hitter in Houston's first 10 games of the season, but he'll receive a breather Monday. Victor Caratini will start at catcher and bat ninth against Texas lefty Andrew Heaney.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Receives breather Monday

Heim is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros.

Heim started the past six games and will take a seat for Monday's matchup with Houston. Andrew Knizner will step in behind the plate to catch for lefty Andrew Heaney.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Out against left-hander

Wells is not in the lineup for Monday's contest against the Marlins, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

The Marlins are starting left-hander Jesus Luzardo, so the lefty-hitting Wells will yield to Jose Trevino at catcher. Wells has made six starts at catcher thus far (all against righties), while Trevino has been behind the plate five times (twice versus righties).

  • White Sox's Martin Maldonado: Not in Monday's lineup

Maldonado is not in the lineup for Monday's contest in Cleveland, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Korey Lee will do the catching for opener Tanner Banks. Maldonado had started each of the previous games and has now been behind the plate in seven of the White Sox' 10 contests thus far.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Absent from lineup

Naylor is not in the lineup for Monday's contest against the White Sox.

Naylor had started each of the previous six games (four at catcher, two at designated hitter) but will take a seat Monday against left-handed opener Tanner Banks. He's a possibility to pinch hit at some point for Austin Hedges, who will do the catching for Triston McKenzie.

  • Red Sox's Reese McGuire: Homers, swipes bag

McGuire went 2-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Angels.

McGuire filled the stat sheet Sunday, highlighted by his three-run blast in the sixth inning. He's gone deep twice in the last three games and posted his second multi-hit game of the season. The 29-year-old catcher is slashing .333/.385/.625 with three extra-base hits and eight RBI through nine games.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | NYM

Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Playing time trending up

Rortvedt will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Billed as a glove-first catcher, Rortvedt has brought more to the table than expected as a hitter in the early going. He's driven in a pair of runs in both of the past two games in Colorado and has two extra-base hits -- both doubles -- in just 15 plate appearances this season. Rortvedt still looks to be behind Rene Pinto on the depth chart on catcher, though he'll be making his third start in four games and is making a case for the Rays to embrace a timeshare at the position.
