  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Goes yard twice in win

Langeliers went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Cubs.

Both blasts came off Jordan Wicks, as Langeliers launched a two-run homer in the first inning and a solo shot in the fifth. The 26-year-old has only three hits in his last 20 at-bats, but all three have left the yard. On the season, Langeliers is slashing .220/.280/.448 with 28 homers, 74 RBI, 54 runs and four stolen bases.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Plates two in win

Heim went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 13-8 win over Toronto.

Heim's two-run single in the sixth inning was the go-ahead hit in a wild back-and-forth game. Similar to years past, the second half of the season hasn't been kind to Heim (career .570 OPS post All-Star break). He entered the game 1-for-32 during September, and the lack of second-half production has cost him at-bats, as Carson Kelly has cut into Heim's playing time since being acquired at the trade deadline. Heim has 101 plate appearances since the beginning of August compared to Kelly's 88.

  • Astros' Cesar Salazar: Back in big leagues

The Astros recalled Salazar from Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday.

Salazar will rejoin the big-league squad to provide the Astros with an additional bench bat as Ben Gamel (fibula) moves to the injured list. Salazar has gone 7-for-23 with eight RBI through 10 games in the majors, but he may struggle to receive playing time while serving as Houston's No. 3 catcher.

  • Jake Rogers C | DET

Tigers' Jake Rogers: Out of Detroit lineup

Rogers is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Kansas City.

Rogers has received the lion's share of starts at catcher for the hard-charging Tigers of late, but he'll begin this one on the bench. Dillon Dingler will be behind the dish for Detroit.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | NYM

Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Out of Tampa Bay lineup

Rortvedt is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Red Sox.

It's a routine day off for Rortvedt. Logan Driscoll will handle the catching duties for the Rays in Tuesday's series opener.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

White Sox's Korey Lee: Out of Monday's lineup

Lee is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Lee and Chuckie Robinson have alternated starts at catcher over the last five contests. It will be Robinson behind the dish for Monday's series opener.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Day of rest Monday

O'Hoppe is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest against the White Sox, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

It's a routine day off for O'Hoppe, who had caught the previous two games for the Halos. Matt Thaiss will be behind the dish in Monday's series opener.

  • Brian Serven C | ATH

Blue Jays' Brian Serven: Removed from 40-man roster

The Blue Jays designated Serven for assignment Monday.

Serven hit only .159/.243/.222 over 28 contests with Toronto. The Blue Jays are replacing him with Tyler Heineman, who will be the backup catcher behind Alejandro Kirk down the stretch.

  • Royals' Freddy Fermin: On bench Monday

Fermin is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers.

Fermin will be on the bench for the second day in a row, but he should be a semi-regular presence in the lineup over the final two weeks of the season while the Royals give veteran catcher Salvador Perez time off behind the plate and deploy him at first base or designated hitter. Though he's mustered an underwhelming .505 OPS thus far in September, Fermin has been a near-league-average hitter (101 wRC+) with a .286/.335/.387 slash line over 344 plate appearances for the season.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Launches pinch-hit homer

Langeliers entered Sunday's loss to the White Sox in the ninth inning as a pinch hitter and hit a solo home run in his only at-bat.

Langeliers had ceded catching duties to Kyle McCann to open the day, yet he was able to come through off the bench with his 26th homer of the season. The round tripper got the Athletics to within one run, but the rally stagnated at that point. Langeliers snapped a 10-game extra-base-hit drought with the timely blast, as well as a brief 0-for-13 skid that had encompassed his last three games.
