Leon went 2-for-4 with a triple, a homer, two RBI and a run Wednesday against the Giants.

After a rare hitless game Tuesday, Leon kept the bat going with another startling offensive performance. What he's done over 23 games this season is nothing short of remarkable -- .435 with three homers, nine doubles, a triple and 15 RBI -- but we're talking about a guy whose three most recent Triple-A batting averages are .243, .263 and .229. If you've got him, ride the hot streak, but know that it's not likely to last much longer.

Gomes (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday, Ohio.com reports. He's expected to miss 4-to-8 weeks.

As anticipated, Gomes will hit the DL with a separated AC joint in his right shoulder, which he sustained during Sunday's game against Minnesota. The catcher will avoid surgery, but is still expected to miss at least a month and potentially as much as eight weeks. He's hitting just .165 with 32 RBI on the year, but remained a valuable contributor for his work with the Indians' pitching staff. To replace Gomes, Cleveland activated Roberto Perez from the disabled list Monday, and he'll team with Chris Gimenez to handle backstop duties over the next several weeks.

Perez (thumb) was officially activated from the DL and is in the lineup Monday against Kansas City, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio reports.

In a move that was announced Sunday night, Perez will come off the DL to replace the injured Yan Gomes, who dislocated his shoulder during Sunday's game against the Twins. Perez will immediately factor into Monday's lineup, starting behind the plate and batting ninth in the order against the Royals' Edinson Volquez.

Navarez went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored against the Angels on Sunday in his first career start.

Navarez's run broke a team streak of not crossing the plate for more than 30 innings, and it capped a semi-successful MLB debut. However, Navarez may not be with the Sox for long, as regular catcher Alex Avila should return from the disabled list later in the week.

Perez (thumb) will be activated from the disabled list on Monday to replace the injured Yan Gomes, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports.

Perez will replace Gomes, who dislocated his shoulder during Sunday's game against the Twins, on the 25-man roster on Monday. Perez injured his thumb in April and has spent time on the disabled list ever since. Over his career, he's slashed .235/.340/.379 over 277 total at-bats.

Perez (thumb) seems the likely candidate to join the Indians, via activation off the disabled list, following Yan Gomes' shoulder injury Sunday, Zack Meisel of The Plain Dealer reports.

Perez's potential role with the club was unclear when he was sent on the rehab assignment, but he could see a decent amount of time behind the dish with Gomes sidelined for an extended period of time. Assuming his activation is the corresponding move Monday, he and Chris Gimenez could be in line to share the duties until Gomes returns, at which point the Indians would need to make a decision.

Manager Terry Francona indicated after Sunday's game that Gomes will be placed on the disabled list with a separated shoulder, Zack Meisel of The Plain Dealer reports.

Considering he left the field in a cast and on a cart, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the veteran backstop will land on the DL. The team could reportedly activate Roberto Perez prior to Monday's contest against the Royals, leaving he and Chris Gimenez as the options behind the plate in Gomes' absence.

Gomes has suffered a right shoulder injury and will head back to Cleveland for further evaluation.

If there's any silver lining in this situation, it's that he didn't suffer a lower-body injury, which easily could have happened based on how Gomes appeared to fall. There appears to be little information known at the moment, but looks for Gomes to at least miss a few days in a best-case scenario.

Gomes was carted off the field in the fifth inning of Sunday's game against the Twins after he violently tripped while running out a groundball, suffering an apparent right arm injury in the process, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

After breaking a 0-for-27 slump in the third inning with a double, it didn't take long for Gomes' tremendously disappointing season to take another turn for the worse. While it looks like Gomes may have avoided a serious lower-body injury since he was able to stand and walk with assistance to the cart, team trainers immediately placed the catcher's right arm in a sling. An official timetable for Gomes' injury won't be known until the Indians' medical staff is able to conduct tests, but this certainly looked like the sort of injury that would require a DL stint. If that ends up being the case, Chris Gimenez would be next in line to take over as the Tribe's primary catcher.

Thole went 2-for-3 with a two-RBI double in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the A's.

The reserve catcher enjoyed some rare success at the plate, opening the scoring on the day by plating Troy Tulowitzki and Darwin Barney with a two-bagger to deep right field in the third. Thole now has back-to-back multi-hit and RBI efforts, and is slashing .333/.385/.417 over 12 at-bats in July.
