Leon went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Monday against the Tigers.

The veteran backstop is now hitting an even .400 for the season through 80 at-bats. Leon's 10 RBI this month are two more than he had in his entire MLB career prior to 2016. The Red Sox may still be in the market for a catcher before the trade deadline, but for now, Leon will remain in the lineup more often than not.

McCann will start at catcher Sunday against the White Sox and bat eighth in the lineup.

Though McCann is behind the plate for Sunday's game, he had sat out the previous three contests in favor of Jarrod Saltalamacchia. McCann has followed up a promising rookie year with a dud of season in 2016, slashing just .197/.245/.303 across 205 plate appearances. Until he turns a corner offensively, he may have to settle for a timeshare at catcher with Saltalamacchia.

Perez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rangers, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio reports.

It's a well-earned day off for Perez, who has been in the lineup for every game since July 4. Drew Butera will fill in for him behind the plate. The time to rest and recover could prove helpful with Perez stuck in a 2-for-23 slump over his last six contests.

Leon is out of the lineup Sunday against the Twins, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Leon had gone 0-for-7 while starting the first two games of the series, but with his batting line still sitting at a magnificent .395/.439/.658 for the season, he'll be secure in his role as the Red Sox's primary catcher until more significant regression occurs. He'll just be getting Sunday off for rest, with Ryan Hanigan spelling him behind the plate in the series finale.

Perez was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.

Perez apparently used his demotion on July 8 as motivation as he went 11-for-31 (.355) with seven runs and nine RBI in his last seven games for Salt Lake. The 25-year-old will get the start behind the dish in his first game back Saturday, catching for Jered Weaver.

Jackson is hitting .234/.325/.410 with eight home runs and a 64:20 K:BB in 205 at-bats with Low-A Clinton this year.

The sixth overall pick in the 2014 draft looked like a prime bounce-back candidate heading into the season, but that has not materialized. He has not hit better than .239 outside of rookie ball, and he has never hit double-digit homers in any season of his career. His pedigree should afford him another year of patience in deeper dynasty leagues, but his stock is as low as it has ever been.

McCann is not in Friday's lineup against the White Sox.

McCann will be out of the lineup for the second consecutive game as Jarrod Saltalamacchia earns another start behind the plate. There has been no news on whether McCann is battling an injury, and he will likely be back in the lineup Saturday.

Perez is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles.

Chris Gimenez will catch and bat ninth against right-hander Dylan Bundy. Perez and Gimenez have alternated starts since Yan Gomes (shoulder) landed on the DL, and the timeshare will likely continue until Gomes is back or the Indians upgrade behind the plate.

McCann is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox.

McCann will get a regular day off after starting the past two games behind the plate. The 26-year-old is batting .197 on the year, adding five home runs and 23 RBI during 188 at-bats. He will be replaced by Jarrod Saltalamacchia on Thursday.

Leon is not in Thursday's lineup against the Twins, Scott Lauber of ESPN.com reports.

Leon will get a regular day off in favor of Ryan Hanigan after starting the past four games at catcher for the Red Sox. He will likely be back in the lineup for Friday's game, and is batting a robust .410/473/.725 during his 69 at-bats this season.
