Roberto Pena C | LAA
White Sox's Roberto Pena: Placed on minor-league DL
Pena was placed on the 7-day disabled list with an undisclosed injury.
Pena was struggling with Triple-A Charlotte before landing on the disabled list, slashing just .179/.231/.231 with one homer through 39 games. The move is retroactive to June 25, so he'll be eligible to return anytime after Sunday. He should continue to serve as organizational depth once he is activated from the DL.

Yan Gomes C | CHC
Indians' Yan Gomes: Sits Game 2
Gomes is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
With the Indians playing two against Detroit on Saturday, Gomes will get the nightcap off while Roberto Perez draws the start behind the plate. Gomes is likely going to be back in the lineup for Sunday's series finale.

Martin Maldonado C | SD
Angels' Martin Maldonado: Takes seat Friday
Maldonado is not in the lineup Friday against the Mariners, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Maldonado will head to the bench for what appears to be a regular day of rest after starting each of the past four contests. Juan Graterol will crouch behind the dish in his stead.

Sandy Leon C | ATL
Red Sox's Sandy Leon: Heads to bench Friday
Leon is not in the lineup Friday against the Blue Jays, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
Despite collecting hits in each of his last four starts, Leon will head to the bench for a second straight game as his timeshare behind the plate continues. Christian Vazquez will draw another start at catcher in his absence.

Zack Collins C | CLE
White Sox's Zack Collins: Selected for Futures Game
Collins will participate in the All-Star Futures Game on July 9 as part of the festivities leading up the All-Star Game.
Collins is hitting just .206 at High-A Winston-Salem, but his ability to draw walks and hit for power gets him into this prospect showcase. He leads the Carolina League with 56 free passes and is tied for ninth with 10 home runs. With so much on the young catcher's plate in terms of learning the finer defensive aspects of catching, Collins has still managed to be a credible threat at the plate.

Sandy Leon C | ATL
Red Sox's Sandy Leon: Day off Thursday
Leon is out of the lineup Thursday, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.
Leon will get the day off after going 1-for-4 during Wednesday's contest. In his place, Christian Vazquez will catch David Price while batting seventh in the order.

Salvador Perez DH | KC
Royals' Salvador Perez: Crushes 16th homer Wednesday
Perez went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Tigers.
He's putting the finishing touches on a monster June that's seen Perez hit .359 (28-for-78) with five homers, 13 runs and 18 RBI in 21 games. The 27-year-old now has an .857 OPS that's more than 100 points better than his previous best for a full season, and if he can avoid wearing down in the second half he's poised for a career year.

Yan Gomes C | CHC
Indians' Yan Gomes: Takes seat Wednesday
Gomes is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Rangers.
The Indians will go with Roberto Perez behind the plate for the second time in the series while Gomes rests. With Gomes delivering a .196/.268/.235 line in June, the Tribe has opted to go with more of a timeshare behind the plate, which will probably continue until Gomes busts out.

Martin Maldonado C | SD
Angels' Martin Maldonado: Pops eighth homer Monday
Maldonado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's win over the Dodgers.
Monday's home run came four games after Maldonado's two-homer game against the Yankees. He has already matched his career high in long balls in just 66 games, good for a .431 slugging percentage. The 30-year-old began the season as an afterthought in fantasy circles, but given his production, he warrants consideration in deep two-catcher formats.
