  • Ronny Simon RF | PIT

Pirates' Ronny Simon: Two hits from leadoff spot

Simon went 2-for-5 with two runs scored Wednesday against the Brewers.

Simon was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis after Oneil Cruz (concussion) landed on the injured list. He immediately led off with a right-handed starter on the mound and recorded the first multi-hit performance of his career. Simon is relatively light on power but makes regular contact and has consistently maintained double-digit walk rates while in the minors.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Homers, triples in rout

Edwards went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a triple and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 13-4 win over the Guardians.

Edwards led off the game with his second homer of the season before adding a triple and scoring again in the sixth. The 26-year-old is riding an eight-game hitting streak that includes six multi-hit efforts, five RBI, six runs scored and five stolen bases. On the season, he's slashing .305/.363/.383 with two home runs, 34 RBI, 58 runs scored and 22 steals across 471 plate appearances.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Swipes two bases Wednesday

Hoerner went 2-for-4 and stole two bases in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Hoerner was unable to come around to score for the Cubs, though he still managed to wreak havoc on the basepaths. It's the fourth time this season he's swiped multiple bases in the same game, and the infielder is now up to 21 steals overall in 24 attempts. Since the start of the 2023 season, Hoerner has 95 stolen bases, and speed remains his greatest fantasy asset.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Powers D-Backs to win

Marte went 4-for-5 with a three-run homer and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Rangers.

Marte's fourth hit Wednesday proved to be the decisive blow in Arizona's victory. With two outs in the ninth inning, the second baseman launched a 413-foot homer off Phil Maton to put the D-Backs ahead for good. Marte has now homered in back-to-back games after hitting just one home run in his previous 15 contests. He's gone 10-for-22 (.455) in his last five games, boosting his slash line to .297/.398/.558 with 23 long balls, 54 RBI and 66 runs scored across 387 plate appearances this season.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Losing work to Rengifo

Moore isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Now set to sit on the bench for the fourth time in the Angels' last five games, it seems Moore has fallen out of favor for the starting gig at second base in Anaheim. Luis Rengifo will get another nod at the keystone Wednesday while batting seventh for the Halos.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Good to go Wednesday

Turang (finger) will start at second base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Turang went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 14-0 win before being lifted in the bottom of the sixth inning for a pinch hitter while he tended to a pinkie injury. The Brewers held a 12-run lead at the time of Turang's departure, so the score may have played a factor in his early removal more so than the injury. The second baseman made enough progress in his recovery overnight to re-enter the lineup for a day game Wednesday as the Brewers look to extend their winning streak to 12.

  • Matt McLain SS | CIN

Reds' Matt McLain: Off day Wednesday

McLain is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

McLain will take a breather, and Santiago Espinal will man second base and bat eighth Wednesday. Over the last 30 days, McLain has slashed .279/.326/.349 with one home run, seven RBI, 11 runs scored, three stolen bases and a 7:26 BB:K. The extra-base power hasn't been there for McLain this season. After slugging .507 as a rookie in 2023, McLain missed the 2024 season and has slugged just .339 across 452 plate appearances this year.

  • Ronny Simon RF | PIT

Pirates' Ronny Simon: Recalled from Triple-A

The Pirates recalled Simon from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Simon made his MLB debut with Pittsburgh earlier this season, slashing .234/.327/.277 with two doubles, five RBI, six runs scored and a 7:7 BB:K across his first 56 big-league plate appearances. He'll provide the Pirates with some middle-infield and outfield depth.

  • Jazz Chisholm CF | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Continues steals surge

Chisholm went 2-for-3 with a triple, two walks, two runs and two stolen bases Tuesday in a 9-1 victory versus the Twins.

Since July 30, Chisholm has stolen multiple bags in a contest three times, and seven of his 17 total thefts have come during that 12-game span. The speedy infielder is batting just .227 during the stretch, but he's added two homers while scoring eight times. Though Chisholm's overall .242 batting average is on pace to be the lowest regular-season mark of his career, his .811 OPS is tracking to be his second-highest career mark, as he's swatted 20 homers and is taking free passes more frequently than ever (11.4 percent walk rate).

  • Royals' Jonathan India: Homers in win

India went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.

India padded the Royals' lead with a two-run blast in the sixth inning to put them up 7-2. India has five RBI in August, which has all come from his two home runs. He's had a prolonged slump at the plate, slashing .169/.281/.338 with three homers, 14 RBI and 12 runs scored in 21 games since July 18.
