Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo went 2 for 3 with a solo home run in his team's 4-1 loss to the Reds Wednesday.
Rizzo has homered on three straight days as he heads towards the All-Star break on a bit of a hot streak. He has hit .280/.387/.512 with 20 home runs and 49 RBI in 328 at-bats.

Rizzo went 3 for 5, with a double and a solo home run in the game. He finished with one RBI and one run scored in the loss.
Rizzo is hitting .277/.383/.502 with 19 home runs, which ranks second in the National League.

White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu put together a big game Tuesday, in an 8-3 win over the Red Sox.
Abreu reached base four times in the game, as he went 3 for 4 with a walk. He added a pair of double, though did not drive in any runs, while scoring once in the win.
Abreu is hitting .281/.331/.619 in 77 games, while ranking second in the American League with 27 home runs and fourth with 69 RBI.

Chris Carter goes deep twice Tuesday
Astros designated hitter Chris Carter's power surge continued Tuesday, as he clubbed two more home runs in an 8-3 win over the Rangers.
Carter went 2 for 4 in the game, with each of his hits leaving the yard for a solo home run in the win. Carter now has 17 home runs overall, including four in his last four games, with seven RBI in that span.
Carter is hitting .194/.274/.446 in 258 at-bats on the season.

Joey Votto hits the DL with lingering quad injury
The Reds placed first baseman Joey Votto on the disabled list Tuesday, as a result of a lingering left quadriceps injury.
Votto has not played since Saturday as a result of the injury, so his stint on the DL will be backdated to July 6. This is the second time the injury has put him on the DL, as he spent nearly a month from mid-May to early June on the shelf as well. There is currently no timetable for his return.

Jay Bruce replaces injured Joey Votto at first base
Reds first baseman Joey Votto is out of the Monday lineup against the Cubs. Jay Bruce has been moved to the spot.
Votto could be destined for the disabled list with a left quadriceps strain that has prevented him from playing the last two games. He has been struggling at the plate without a multi-game since June 21. He has just seven hits in his last 40 at-bats.

The Twins are trying to catch lightning in a bottle for the second time this season with third baseman Chris Colabello - and they're catching it.
Colabello ran his hitting streak to three with a double and two-run homer in the loss to the Yankees. He has two blasts and four RBI since his promotion from the minors.

Angels leadoff hitter Kole Calhoun went 3 for 3 with a walk, two runs scored and a solo homer in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Astros. Calhoun's ninth homer traveled 409 feet to right.
It was the second straight three-hit game for Calhoun, who upped his average to .301/.361/.522 in 186 at-bats.
