  • Mets' Wilmer Flores: Scratched from Wednesday's lineup

Flores was scratched from Wednesday's game due to a possible side injury, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports.

Flores appears to be dealing with a lat or oblique issue, either way, the 26-year-old will be out of the lineup for the third contest of a four-game set against the Yankees. It's unclear as to when Flores would've suffered an injury -- he's started the past three games -- but more information is likely to become present on his condition prior to the start of Wednesday's game.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Cardinals' Luke Voit: Productive in pinch-hit capacity

Voit entered Tuesday's 10-4 loss to the Red Sox as a pinch hitter in the top of the sixth inning and went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs.

The 26-year-old hasn't drawn a start since Aug. 6, having logged one at-bat apiece as a pinch hitter in his six most recent contests prior to Tuesday. Voit's multi-hit effort was his second of August and he's already boosted his average 29 points to .263 during the month. The rookie's playing time continues to be on the sporadic side, but he boasts a nice mix of power and the ability to hit for average based on his body of work in the minors.

  • Mets' Asdrubal Cabrera: Out of lineup Wednesday

Cabrera is not in the lineup against the Yankees on Wednesday.

Cabrera will get the night off after starting four consecutive games as Jose Reyes picks up a start at the keystone. Following a pair of three-hit games at the beginning of the month, Cabrera is hitting just .176/.200/.235 with only two extra-base hits over his past nine contests.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Athletics' Matt Olson: Rides pine Wednesday against lefty

Olson is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

With lefty Danny Duffy due up for Kansas City, Olson will head to the bench as Ryon Healy takes over at first base. Olson has hit four homers in his last five games, but the power still comes with a lot of swing-and-miss, and it looks like his exposure to southpaws will remain limited.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ATL

Indians' Carlos Santana: Hits two homers Tuesday

Santana went 3-for-3 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs in Tuesday's win over the Twins. He also walked twice.

Following last season's career-high 34 home runs and 87 RBI, Santana hasn't delivered the results in 2017 that fantasy owners expected. Although he's on pace to match 2016's RBI total, the first baseman's .248/.353/.447 slash line through 113 games is down across the board compared to last year. The good news is that Santana has picked his game up since the All-Star break, raising his OPS to .800 for the first time since April 9.

  • Dominic Smith DH | ATL

Mets' Dominic Smith: Smashes first MLB homer Tuesday

Smith went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Yankees.

His seventh-inning shot off Sonny Gray, the first big-league homer of Smith's short career, ended the right-hander's night and kicked off a late but futile rally by the Mets. The 22-year-old has now hit safely in four of five games since being called up, and he should remain entrenched at first base over the final weeks of 2017 for the rebuilding squad.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Historic streak continues

Votto went 0-for-2 with three walks and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Cubs.

Votto has now reached base twice in 20 straight games, tying Barry Bonds and Pete Rose for the second-longest such streak of the modern era. Ted Williams holds the record with 21. The 33-year-old is also just six homers off his career-high mark of 37 -- he recently told Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer that his power surge is the result of a changing strike zone and more inside pitches.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Homers again Tuesday

Hoskins went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's loss to the Padres.

Since beginning his big-league career 0-for-12, Hoskins has gone 4-for-9 with three homers and four RBI. Hoskins has hit cleanup in five straight games, and with his combination of power, patience and contact, he's looking like a potential fantasy difference maker down the stretch.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Angels' C.J. Cron: Takes seat Tuesday

Cron is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Nationals.

Cron normally starts over Luis Valbuena at first base against left-handed pitching, but even with southpaw Gio Gonzalez on the hill for the Nationals, both Cron and Valbuena will find themselves on the bench Tuesday. With no DH spot available in Washington, Albert Pujols will instead pick up a rare start at first base.

  • Keston Hiura 2B | LAD

Brewers' Keston Hiura: Ready to play second base

Hiura will make his first professional start at second base Tuesday for Low-A Wisconsin. He broke the news on his personal Twitter account.

While he did not need Tommy John surgery on his injured elbow, the Brewers had only deployed Hiura as a designated hitter prior to this news, allowing his elbow time to heal. However, he can now take the field without any restrictions on his arm. This only reinforces the notion that Hiura's elbow injury, which may have caused him to slip a little in this year's draft, will not cost him any developmental time. He is hitting .344/.384/.489 in 99 plate appearances since getting promoted to the Midwest League, and is clearly one of the top dynasty-league targets from the 2017 draft class.
