Vaughn was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Thursday. "Andrew is currently asymptomatic and our hope is that, similar to our other IL placements of this nature, he will return shortly to the active roster," general manager Rick Hahn said in a statement.

Hahn said that no other players are affected at this time. Vaughn missed Monday's doubleheader due to allergies, but he he returned to action Tuesday and went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. Gavin Sheets was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move while Jake Lamb draws the start in left field.

Olson went 3-for-4 with an RBI single, a double and a run in a win over the Mariners on Wednesday.

The slugging first baseman continued wielding a red-hot bat in the shutout win, as Olson now is 7 for-14 with two doubles, a home run, three RBI, a walk and five runs over his last three contests. The surge has pushed Olson's season slash line -- which now stands at an impressive .274/.361/.570 -- to its highest figures since May 6.

Lowe is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies.

Lowe's first time out of the lineup all season will unfortunately come at Coors Field. His .246/.354/.396 season slash line isn't anything special for a first baseman, but his job remains very safe with Ronald Guzman out for the year following knee surgery. Charlie Culberson will get the nod at first base Thursday.

Gurriel went 0-for-2 with a sacrifice fly in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Red Sox.

It was a quiet offensive day for both teams Wednesday, but Gurriel knocked in Jose Altuve on a sacrifice fly in the first inning. Also, Gurriel was the only Astro to not strike out in the game. The 37-year-old is slashing .301/.373/.497 in 212 plate appearances and leads the Astros with 39 RBI.

Bell will sit Thursday against Atlanta.

Bell finds himself on the bench for the second time in three games and the third time in six contests. His .668 OPS, which is a near match for his .669 OPS from last season, doesn't exactly make a strong case for him earning everyday at-bats. Ryan Zimmerman will start at first base in his absence versus Atlanta lefty Tucker Davidson.

Cron is not in Thursday's lineup against the Rangers.

The righty-hitting first baseman is hitting .148 with 10 strikeouts, five walks and zero home runs over his last 10 games, but he is still slashing .275/.383/.450 on the season. Matt Adams draws the start at first base and will bat fifth.

Dalbec went 0-for-3 in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Astros.

Dalbec returned to the lineup against the left-handed Framber Valdez after two straight games against righties. He's 2-for-19 over the last seven games and faces diminishing playing time with the activation of Danny Santana, who's started at first base in three of the previous five games. Dalbec is expected to start Thursday, when right-hander Jake Odorizzi toes the rubber for Houston, per Ian Browne of MLB.com.

Walker went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's 7-6 loss to the Mets.

Walker was back in the lineup Wednesday against a left-hander after taking a seat the previous two games when the Diamondbacks faced righties. He hasn't been part of a platoon since emerging as a lineup regular in 2019, so having him sit against right-handers is something new, if that's manager Torey Lovullo's plan going forward. Walker, who recently returned from an oblique injury, is batting just .182 against righties in 2021. One motivating factor may be Lovullo's desire to keep the hot-hitting Pavin Smith's bat in the lineup.

Goldschmidt went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesday's blowout loss to the Dodgers.

Goldschmidt got St. Louis off to a fast start in the first inning, drilling a solo shot to center field. However, Los Angeles responded with 11 runs in the bottom of the frame, and Goldschmidt was pulled in the third inning with the game already out of reach. The homer was his seventh this season and first since May 11, a span of 19 games.

Mountcastle went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run Wednesday against the Twins.

Mountcastle took Alex Colome deep in the seventh inning to record his sixth home run of the season. He performed well across the team's three-game set against the Twins, collecting five hits in 12 at-bats while slugging two home runs, driving in five and scoring twice. That aided his season-long line, which still sits at an uninspiring .238/.265/.400 mark across 196 plate appearances.
