Willson Contreras C | STL
Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Exits early Tuesday
Contreras (hand/wrist) exited Tuesday's contest against the Pirates in the bottom of the fourth inning, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.
Contreras was struck in the left hand/wrist by a 99.3 mph fastball from Paul Skenes to open the top of the fourth, ultimately remaining in the game for the rest of the Cardinals' time at-bat. The 33-year-old was replaced at first base by Alec Burleson while Garrett Hampson entered the game in right field. More information on the status of Contreras will likely come in the near future.

Trey Mancini 1B | ARI
Trey Mancini: Opts out of deal
Mancini opted out of his minor-league deal with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Mancini has spent the entire 2025 campaign to date with Arizona's Triple-A affiliate in Reno, slashing .308/.373/.522 with 16 homers, 62 RBI and 62 runs scored across 335 plate appearances. After an impressive start to the season in the minors, he'll now test his value in free agency and presumably look to sign with a club that can offer a clearer path to big-league playing time.

Josh Naylor 1B | SEA
Diamondbacks' Josh Naylor: Starting as DH on Tuesday
Naylor (neck) is batting cleanup as the designated hitter Tuesday against the Giants.
The 28-year-old slugger sat out the previous three games due to neck stiffness, but he's back in the lineup in a non-defensive capacity Tuesday versus San Francisco. Pavin Smith is starting at first base with Naylor easing his way back into the starting nine.

Dominic Smith 1B | SF
Giants' Dominic Smith: Logs two hits in loss
Smith went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Smith singled in the second inning and added a double in the seventh before coming around to score. With that, the first baseman delivered his first multi-hit performance since June 13. The 30-year-old has been out of the lineup in five of the club's last eight games, losing playing time at first base to Wilmer Flores. Smith appeared in 19 games in June after signing a one-year contract with San Francisco on June 4, slashing .281/.368/.404 with eight RBI, six runs scored, four doubles, one home run and one stolen base across 68 plate appearances.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 1B | TOR
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Plays hero in three-RBI night
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Monday's win over the Yankees.
After getting the Blue Jays on the board in the fifth inning with an RBI groundout, Guerrero capped a four-run sixth with an absolute rocket past Jazz Chisholm at third base to bring home two more, a ball that left his bat with an exit velocity of 115.7 mph. Guerrero puts a very productive June in the books having slashed .290/.383/.516 with nine doubles, four homers, three steals, 18 runs and 18 RBI in 25 games.

Spencer Horwitz 1B | PIT
Pirates' Spencer Horwitz: Slugs first leadoff homer
Horwitz went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a two-RBI double in Monday's 7-0 victory over the Cardinals.
The Pittsburgh first baseman launched his first career leadoff homer when he took St. Louis starter Erick Fedde deep on the second pitch. Horwitz then returned in the third to lace a two-RBI double off Fedde to notch his second two-bagger of the season. The former Blue Jay has settled into a strong-side platoon role and is now slashing .258/.324/.383 with two homers, 17 runs scored and 14 RBI across 142 plate appearances in 36 games.

Jake Burger 3B | TEX
Rangers' Jake Burger: Expected back this weekend
Burger (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday and is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to the Rangers' road trip that begins Friday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Burger has been shelved since June 21 with a left oblique strain, but he's been cleared for rehab games and will require a brief minor-league assignment before being activated. The 29-year-old should see regular starts upon his return, likely bouncing between first base and designated hitter.

Josh Naylor 1B | SEA
Diamondbacks' Josh Naylor: Remains out of lineup
Naylor (neck) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Giants.
Naylor will miss a third straight start after exiting Friday's game versus the Marlins with neck stiffness. He is considered day-to-day. Pavin Smith will serve as the Diamondbacks' first baseman and Lourdes Gurriel will be the designated hitter in Monday's series opener.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt: Sitting vs. right-hander Monday
Goldschmidt is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays.
Ben Rice will get the nod at first base Monday while the Blue Jays send right-hander Max Scherzer to the hill. The Yankees aren't treating Goldschmidt as a pure platoon player, but his opportunities to play against right-handed pitching have been scaled back considerably following Giancarlo Stanton's return from the 60-day injured list June 16. Since that date, the Yankees have faced 11 right-handed starting pitchers, and Goldschmidt has been included in the lineup for six of those matchups. Both Goldschmidt (.273 wOBA) and Stanton (.299 wOBA) could be in danger of fading into part-time roles if the Yankees commit to open up steadier playing time for Rice (.379 wOBA) and Jasson Dominguez (.345 wOBA), both of whom have been far more effective against righties this season.

Jared Triolo 3B | PIT
Pirates' Jared Triolo: Back on bench Monday
Triolo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.
Triolo was included in the lineup in three of the Pirates' previous four games, but the bulk of his starts are still expected to come against left-handed pitching when Pittsburgh has all of its core infielders available. Most of the 27-year-old's value to the Pirates derives from his ability to play all four infield spots, as he's been an easy out at the plate with a .167/.260/.280 slash line over 152 plate appearances on the season.
