Abreu is feeling good and has reported minimal swelling after taking a hit-by-pitch off the leg Friday, CSN Chicago reports.

According to manager Rick Renteria, the club considers Abreu day-to-day going forward. Considering an evaluation found nothing more than a bruise and his symptoms Friday night seemed minimal, it would be surprising if this kept Abreu out for multiple games.

Abreu was forced to leave Friday's game against Cleveland with a bruised left leg, Darly Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Abreu was replaced by a pinch runner after he was hit by a pitch in the top of the seventh inning. He will be re-evaluated Saturday, so expect an update sometime before the 7:15 PM first pitch, and consider him day-to-day until then.

Gurriel is not in Friday's lineup against the Angels, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Gurriel gets his first day off since June 3, with Marwin Gonzalez manning first base and batting sixth Friday. With a nine-game hit streak to his name, Gurriel will likely be back in the lineup Saturday.

Carter went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Wednesday's 8-0 win over the Red Sox.

He's now homered in consecutive games, giving Carter six blasts on the season, and the three-hit performance got his batting average back over .200 for the first time since May 26. With Greg Bird (ankle) close to returning to action, Carter will need to keep slugging if he wants to retain even a platoon role at first base.

Cron's lone hit in Tuesday's win over the Tigers was a mammoth two-run home run, his second of the season.

It didn't take long for the 27-year-old to go yard after returning from his stint in the minors. Cron got the start at first against a southpaw Tuesday a game after spelling Albert Pujols on Sunday. While he has started two straight games, it is unclear if manager Mike Scioscia is willing to give the slugger regular playing time when the trio of Pujols, Luis Valbuena and Yunel Escobar is all healthy. It would be best to wait for a larger sample size of playing time before jumping on Cron as a potential pickup.

Carter went 1-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox.

The home run was his fifth of the season, but otherwise Carter has been a major disappointment while filling in for the injured Greg Bird, as he's sporting a slash line of just .183/.278/.357. His struggles have led to the Yankees trying to work in other options at first base, and with Bird nearing a return, Carter's status as an everyday player could change.

Calhoun went 2-for-2 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Tigers.

He seems to be taking it upon himself to step up with Mike Trout (thumb) out of action, and Calhoun now has four homers and four multi-hit performances in his last five games. His .234/.319/.390 slash line on the season remains below expectations, but the streaky outfielder can improve those numbers in a hurry if he stays hot.

Olson was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

Olson's second stint with the major-league club was uneventful, as he played in just one game and logged only a pair of plate appearances. The 23-year-old has put together an excellent .285/.374/.575 slash line in 47 games with Nashville this season, and if Matt Joyce continues to struggle, Olson could be up for good before too long.

Gurriel went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and two runs scored during Monday's win over Kansas City.

Gurriel also hit a round tripper Sunday, and the mini power outburst has him up to a .268/.307/.430 slash line with six homers, 25 RBI and 24 runs. He's also probably capable of improving his current batting average while providing solid numbers in the RBI and runs columns. Playing for the best team in the majors helps his fantasy floor, too.

Gurriel went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and two RBI in Sunday's 7-2 win over the Rangers.

Gurriel was the last participant of the Astros' home run derby on Sunday, collecting the team's fourth long ball of the day in the fifth inning off reliever Tony Barnette. Gurriel has really picked up his run production since April. He had just seven RBI over the first month but has 15 since May 1. Like many of his Astros teammates, Gurriel is on a hit streak, reaching safely in five straight games. As part of one of the best offenses in baseball, Gurriel should have plenty of chances to be productive moving forward.
