Fairchild was waived by the Saints on Tuesday.
Fairchild caught three passes for 31 yards with the Saints during the preseason, but he ultimately didn't do enough to earn a spot on the 53-man roster. If the tight end clears waivers, he'll likely join the practice squad in New Orleans.

The Saints signed Fairchild to a contract Wednesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Fairchild spent time in New Orleans before being cut Aug. 7, and he now rejoins the team. The undrafted rookie out of Kansas is likely competing for a spot on the team's practice squad.

Fairchild was waived by the Saints on Wednesday, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Fairchild joined New Orleans as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas on Friday. However, his time with the team didn't last long. In a corresponding move, the Saints signed offensive tackle Mark Evans.

Saints' Mason Fairchild: Getting chance with New Orleans
The Saints signed Fairchild to a contract Friday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Fairchild went undrafted in April after averaging 31 catches for 447 yards over his final two college seasons with Kansas. The 6-foot-5 tight end will now have a chance to show off his skill set in training camp as he attempts to make the 53-man roster in a depth role. The Saints also signed veteran tight end Kevin Rader on Friday.
