Top Saints News

  • Saints' Rashid Shaheed: Four grabs in Sunday's loss

Shaheed caught four of six targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 25-19 loss to the Patriots.

The speedy wideout has caught exactly four passes in five straight games, but Sunday's yardage total was his lowest of the season. Shaheed remains dependent on deep throws for significant fantasy value, but with Spencer Rattler getting more confident and comfortable in coach Kellen Moore's offense, connections like last week's 87-yard TD could become more frequent. Shaheed may have a better chance of making an impact in Week 7 against the Bears.

  • Saints' Blake Grupe: Perfect in Week 6 loss

Grupe made all four of his field-goal attempts and connected on his lone extra-point try during the Saints' 25-19 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.

Grupe kept the Saints in striking distance with his boot Sunday, and he capped off his day with a 54-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter. It was his second consecutive game with four made field goals, though just the second time this season that he has not missed a kick. Grupe has opened the regular season 14-for-19 on field-goal tries and 9-for-9 on extra-point attempts through six games.

  • Saints' Chris Olave: Just misses century mark in loss

Olave caught six of 10 targets for 98 yards in Sunday's 25-19 loss to the Patriots.

The fourth-year wideout nearly produced his first 100-yard performance since Week 8 of last season, but Olave instead had to settle for a season high in receiving yards. He's been Spencer Rattler's favorite downfield option by far, seeing double-digit targets in five of six games to begin the campaign en route to a 39-342-1 line on 63 targets overall. Olave will look to stay productive in Week 7 against the Bears.

  • Saints' Alvin Kamara: Tops 70 scrimmage yards in loss

Kamara carried the ball 10 times for 31 yards and caught all five of his targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 25-19 loss to the Patriots.

After dealing with an ankle injury during the week in practice, Kamara didn't seem particularly bothered by the issue as he saw at least 15 touches for the fourth time in the last five games, and produced 70-plus scrimmage yards for the third time in that span. Kamara has 314 rushing yards and a 22-122-0 receiving line on 26 targets through six contests, but a Week 1 rushing TD has been his only trip to the end zone so far. He'll look to end his scoring drought in Week 7 against the Bears.

  • Saints' Spencer Rattler: Kept out of end zone Sunday

Rattler completed 20 of 26 passes for 227 yards in Sunday's 25-19 loss to the Patriots. He added 20 rushing yards on four carries.

The second-year QB didn't commit a turnover for the fifth time in six starts to begin the season, but Rattler also wasn't able to produce a touchdown as the Saints had to settle for four Blake Grupe field goals, as well as a one-yard TD run from Taysom Hill. Rattler's 8.7 YPA on Sunday was a season high, as were his 227 passing yards. He'll take a 6:1 TD:INT into a Week 7 matchup against the Bears.

  • Saints' Alvin Kamara: Ready to go for Week 6

Kamara (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Patriots.

A limited participant in practice throughout the week due to the ankle injury, Kamara took a questionable tag into the weekend but never seemed at major risk of missing Sunday's contest. Now that he's confirmed as available for the Week 6 contest, Kamara should continue in his usual role as the Saints' lead option out of the backfield. Though Kamara's name has popped up in trade rumors as the 1-4 Saints navigate what looks to be a rebuilding season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Saturday that the 30-year-old back told general manager Mickey Loomis that he would like to remain with the franchise for the duration of his career. The Saints are expected to honor Kamara's request and hold on to him ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline, even though multiple contending teams would likely be in the market for his services.

  • Saints' John Ridgeway: Won't play vs. New England

Ridgeway (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Ridgeway drew the questionable tag for Sunday's contest after three consecutive full practices, but the fourth-year defensive tackle will need to wait until at least Week 7 against the Bears on Sunday, Oct. 19 to make his 2025 debut. The 2022 fifth-rounder opened the season on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury that he sustained during training camp in late July.

  • Saints' Alvin Kamara: In line to play Sunday

Kamara (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots, is expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Kamara told Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune that he injured his ankle in last Sunday's win over the Giants, which left him limited in practice Wednesday through Friday. Ultimately, Kamara's status for Sunday's contest will be confirmed about 90 minutes before a 1 p.m. ET kickoff, but even if he's active, there's a chance he cedes some snaps to his primary backup, Kendre Miller.
