Saints' Devin Neal: Seven touches in preseason loss
Neal (hamstring) rushed five times for 20 yards and brought in both targets for 10 yards in the Saints' 28-19 preseason loss to the Broncos on Saturday afternoon.
Neal had missed the first two preseason games due to a hamstring injury, but the rookie sixth-round pick was able to finally get on the field Saturday. Neal was reasonably effective with his second-half opportunities, and he'll presumably have to beat out at least one of veterans Cam Akers, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Velus Jones to make it through final cutdowns.

Saints' Kendre Miller: Three touches to close preseason
Miller rushed three times for 15 yards and failed to bring in his only target in the Saints' 28-19 preseason loss to the Broncos on Saturday afternoon.
Miller handled the first running back opportunity for the Saints and rattled off gains of eight and seven yards on his first two carries, with the second one wiped out by an offensive holding call. The oft-injured 2023 third-round pick is getting a fresh start with the new coaching staff in New Orleans, and he seems to be locked into the No. 2 role behind Alvin Kamara heading into a Week 1 home matchup against the Cardinals.

Saints' Rashid Shaheed: Two grabs in preseason finale
Shaheed brought in two of three targets of 14 yards in the Saints' 28-19 preseason loss to the Broncos on Saturday afternoon.
Shaheed took the field for the Saints' first three possessions with Spencer Rattler as his quarterback and recorded multiple grabs for the second straight preseason contest. The speedy Weber State product should once again serve as one of the Saints' most potent downfield weapons in 2025, although working with either Rattler and the even more inexperienced Tyler Shough could certainly cap Shaheed's upside somewhat.

Saints' Chris Olave: Three catches to close preseason
Olave brought in all three targets for 29 yards in the Saints' 28-19 preseason loss to the Broncos on Saturday afternoon.
Olave finished in a three-way tie for the team lead in receptions while profiling as the runner-up in receiving yards. The 2022 first-round pick made catches of 12, seven and 10 yards while working with Spencer Rattler on the Saints' first three drives, and he'll head into the regular season poised to reprise his No. 1 receiver role while working with either Rattler or rookie Tyler Shough as his quarterback.

Saints' Khristian Boyd: Dealing with hand injury
Head coach Kellen Moore relayed that Boyd injured his hand during Saturday's 28-19 loss to Denver, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
Boyd went back to the locker room during the first half after initially being checked on by trainers in the blue medical tent. An update on the severity of his injury should be made over the coming days once he undergoes further testing. The 2024 sixth-rounder had an impactful preseason, finishing with four tackles, including 2.0 sacks, across three games.

Saints' Shane Lemieux: Nursing ankle injury
Lemieux suffered an ankle injury during Saturday's preseason game against Denver, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
Lemieux was seen limping off the field during the closing seconds of the first half, but he was starting at center for the start of the third quarter. His ability to return suggests that his injury isn't severe, but the Saints will provide an update on its severity once Lemieux undergoes further tests. The 2020 fifth-rounder signed a contract with the Saints in early August and appeared in seven games (four starts) for New Orleans in 2024.

Saints' Landon Young: Picks up ankle injury
Head coach Kellen Moore relayed that Young is dealing with an ankle injury that he picked up during the Saints' 28-19 loss to the Broncos during Saturday's preseason game, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
Young had to be carted off the field during Saturday's game after his leg got rolled up on. He'll undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury, and the Saints should provide an update on the 2021 sixth-rounder over the coming days. Young's status for Week 1 against the Cardinals on Sunday, Sept. 7 is up in the air.

Saints' Spencer Rattler: Ho-hum effort in preseason finale
Rattler started the Saints' 28-19 preseason loss to the Broncos on Saturday afternoon and completed five of eight passes for 43 yards without a touchdown or interception while rushing once for no gain.
Rattler led the Saints' first three possessions before giving way to Tyler Shough, who was in the game until the fourth quarter. Rattler had noteworthy connections with Chris Olave of 12 and 10 yards, as well as a nine-yard completion to Rashid Shaheed, but Shough ultimately put up a more impressive showing. Rattler finished the preseason having gone 30-for-43 for 295 yards with a touchdown and an interception while adding seven rushes for 41 yards, and it remains to be seen if he did enough in the eyes of head coach Kellen Moore to earn the right to earn the Week 1 start against the Cardinals.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Solid showing in preseason finale
Shough completed 12 of 20 passes for 102 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed twice for 20 yards and a score during the Saints' 28-19 preseason loss to the Broncos on Saturday afternoon. He also lost a fumble.
Shough came into the game on the Saints' fourth possession after Spencer Rattler handled the first three drives and led New Orleans to six points. Shough put together an encouraging preseason overall that saw him complete 66.7 percent of his passes while throwing for a touchdown, in addition to Saturday's 11-yard scoring scamper early in the fourth quarter that capped off an impressive 12-play, 77-yard march. Consequently, the rookie second-round pick has seemingly done everything he can to make his case over Rattler for the starting quarterback job to open the campaign, and coming days will tell whether or not his efforts were successful.

Saints' Alvin Kamara: Makes it through preseason healthy
Kamara concluded the preseason without making an appearance.
Fantasy managers are just fine with that, after Kamara made it through training camp without any report of injury troubles or missed time. The Saints used some of their other starters in multiple preseason games, which allowed RB Kendre Miller to get a bunch of first-team work. Miller thus stands as the favorite to enter Week 1 against Arizona as Kamara's top backup, although it's a fluid situation, with rookie Devin Neal just recently coming back from a hamstring injury and Clyde Edwards-Helaire perhaps competing for a small role.

Saints' Devaughn Vele: Not dressed to play
Vele isn't dressed for Saturday's preseason game against Denver, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
He won't face his former team, presumably needing more time to learn a new playbook and otherwise get acclimated after the Saints traded for him Wednesday. Vele presumably is expected to be the team's No. 3 wide receiver at some point, considering the Saints traded a 2026 fourth-round pick and 2027 seventh-round selection to acquire him.

Saints' Taliese Fuaga: Dealing with minor knee injury
Fuaga (knee) didn't practice Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
Head coach Kellen Moore said Fuaga got banged up at the end of practice Wednesday, and Fuaga clarified that he had a "little knee thing" come up, per Terrell. The injury is unlikely to impact the starting right tackle's availability for Week 1 against the Cardinals on Sept. 7, but Fuaga may not play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Broncos.

Saints' Tyler Shough: To be second QB up Saturday
Shough will serve as the No.2 quarterback behind Spencer Rattler during Saturday's preseason finale against the Broncos, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Shough was outplayed by Rattler during New Orleans' 17-17 preseason tie against Jacksonville on Sunday, in which he got the start but completed just nine of 12 pass attempts for 66 yards across four possessions. While head coach Kellen Moore confirms that starting Rattler on Saturday doesn't indicate that a decision for Week 1 has been made, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, Shough will certainly need to perform better versus Denver in order to make his case for opening the regular season under center. Across his two preseason showings combined, the rookie second-round pick has completed 24 of 34 pass attempts for 231 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
