Sharks' Cameron Lund: Three helpers in AHL win
Lund registered three assists and four shots on net in AHL San Jose's 7-6 win over Bakersfield on Saturday.
Lund got a brief taste of NHL action with three points in 11 games late in 2024-25 after signing out of Northeastern University last March. The Sharks will let him earn some development time with the Barracuda to start 2025-26, though he could be a call-up candidate later in the campaign.

Sharks' Quentin Musty: Earns first AHL points
Musty scored a goal on two shots and added an assist in AHL San Jose's 7-6 win over Bakersfield on Saturday.
Musty earned his first points at the AHL level in the Barracuda's season opener. The 20-year-old winger has plenty of potential as a first-round pick of the Sharks from 2023. Unlike some of the team's more heralded prospects, Musty will likely get a year or two to grow his game in the AHL.

Sharks' Jack Thompson: Heads on waivers
Thompson (lower body) has been placed on waivers by the Sharks, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Thompson began the season on non-roster injured reserve with a lower-body ailment. That seems to be resolved, so he'll head on waivers and likely be assigned to the AHL if he clears. The 23-year-old did suit up in 31 NHL games last year, putting up 10 points from the blue line in those contests.

Sharks' Lucas Carlsson: Waived for AHL demotion
Carlsson (lower body) was placed on waivers Sunday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
After moving past an injury he sustained during training camp, Carlsson will report to AHL San Jose if he clears waivers. He had 10 goals and 23 points in 45 minor-league appearances during the 2024-25 regular season.

Sharks' Nick Leddy: Deals helper in overtime loss
Leddy had an assist, two blocked shots and a minus-2 rating in Saturday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Ducks.
This was Leddy's first point over two games with the Sharks since he was claimed off waivers from the Blues in the offseason. The 34-year-old blueliner is poised to play a significant role as a top-four option this season. He was limited to five points in 31 regular-season outings last year and has fallen short of the 30-point mark in four straight seasons, so Leddy isn't a particularly strong option for fantasy.

Sharks' Dmitry Orlov: Slings two helpers
Orlov notched two assists, three shots on goal, five hits and two PIM in Saturday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Ducks.
Orlov has earned three points, seven hits and four shots on net over two games this season. The 34-year-old even picked up a power-play helper on Adam Gaudette's tally Saturday. Orlov is seeing significant minutes so far in 2025-26 and should offer plenty of physicality while also potentially pushing for a return to the 30-point mark for the first time since 2022-23, when he had 36 points over 66 outings between Washington and Boston.

Sharks' Will Smith: Manages three helpers
Smith recorded three assists and three shots on goal in Saturday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Ducks.
One of Smith's three helpers came on the power play. The 20-year-old is playing alongside Macklin Celebrini, and it seems the two young forwards will have a significant influence on each other's performance at both even strength and with the man advantage. Smith should be in consideration for fantasy managers who need points and shots, but don't expect him to add much physicality. He should be a top-six fixture throughout the year.

Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Trio of assists Saturday
Celebrini recorded three assists, including one on the power play, in Saturday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Ducks.
Celebrini went without a point Opening Night versus the Golden Knights, but he made a big impact in this game. The 19-year-old center has already emerged as the Sharks' top forward, and he's capable of skating 20-plus minutes per game. The sky's the limit after his 63-point rookie campaign in 2024-25.

Sharks' Ryan Reaves: Goal, fight in overtime loss
Reaves scored a goal and added a fighting major in Saturday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Ducks.
Reaves made some noise in the first period, first with a goal 11:12 into the game and then a fight against Ross Johnston a few minutes later. The 38-year-old Reaves has held down a fourth-line role to start 2025-26, adding six hits over two games. He may not be an everyday presence in the lineup, especially if Michael Misa holds onto a spot once Misa makes his NHL debut.

Sharks' Mario Ferraro: Pots goal in overtime loss
Ferraro scored a goal on two shots and blocked five shots in Saturday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Ducks.
Ferraro has a goal, four shots on net and seven blocks over two games this season. While the Sharks made additions to their blue line in the offseason, Ferraro's defensive skill set will keep him in a top-four role. He's logged 100-plus hits in all six of his NHL campaigns and has added at least 125 blocks in four straight seasons. However, he's topped the 20-point mark just once and will likely struggle to get to that level of offense in 2025-26. Ferraro is in a contract year and could be a trade candidate in the likely event the Sharks aren't in the playoff picture in March.

Sharks' Jeff Skinner: Continues strong start
Skinner scored a goal on three shots and added two hits in Saturday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Ducks.
Skinner has two goals in as many games to begin the year, and he's added six shots on net and four hits. The 33-year-old has made the most of a third-line role, though he's also seeing time on the second power-play unit, which gives him a path to better scoring situations. He's got enough of a history as a successful scorer to be worth a look in deeper fantasy formats, but Skinner can also be maddeningly streaky.

Sharks' John Klingberg: Strikes on power play
Klingberg scored a power-play goal and added two PIM in Saturday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Ducks.
Klingberg restored a lead for the Sharks, putting them up 4-3 in the second period with his first goal of the season. The 33-year-old defenseman had a middling stint with the Ducks in 2022-23, earning 24 points over 50 appearances, though it was a productive and healthy campaign compared to the last two years. Klingberg is positioned to play a top-four role with ample power-play time to start 2025-26. He already has two points this year, both of which have come with the man advantage.

Sharks' Tyler Toffoli: Tallies early in overtime loss
Toffoli scored a goal on three shots in Saturday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Ducks.
Toffoli scored just 3:40 into the game, setting the tone for a back-and-forth contest. The 33-year-old winger has filled a middle-six role through two games, picking up five shots on net and a minus-2 rating. Toffoli can still chip in roughly 30 goals and 50-plus points, as he has over the last three years, but if his role continues to shrink as more prospects assert themselves, his fantasy value will diminish.

Sharks' Adam Gaudette: First two points in teal
Gaudette scored a power-play goal, dished an assist and added two PIM in Saturday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Ducks.
Gaudette has opened the season as the Sharks' fourth-line center, though he also has a spot on the second power-play unit. It's a similar role to the one he had with the Senators in 2024-25, when he put up 19 goals and seven assists in 81 regular-season games. Gaudette's place in the lineup is far from secure, as he could be the one who gets scratched whenever the team is ready to give Michael Misa his NHL debut.

Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Rough outing Saturday
Askarov stopped 36 of 43 shots in Saturday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Ducks.
Askarov didn't exactly impress in his first start of the season, squandering two separate multi-goal leads before giving up a goal to Leo Carlsson in overtime to complete the collapse. It's a start like this that shows why the Sharks seem intent on splitting time between Askarov and Alex Nedeljkovic early in the campaign. The 23-year-old Askarov is the goalie of the future, and he'll get his chances in 2025-26, but fantasy managers may want to see him as more of a streaming option when he gets a favorable matchup. The Sharks' next game is a tough one at home versus the Hurricanes on Tuesday.

Sharks' Eric Pohlkamp: Hat trick in Saturday's win
Pohlkamp scored three goals on five shots in the University of Denver's 6-0 win over Bentley University.
Pohlkamp, a defenseman, made a massive splash in Denver's big win. The 21-year-old showed some scoring talent with 35 points in 44 appearances for Denver last year after transferring from Bemidji State University. Pohlkamp was selected in the fifth round (132nd overall) by the Sharks in 2023. He could be in line for an entry-level deal as early as this spring if he continues to impress in the collegiate ranks.

Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Between pipes against Ducks
Askarov will guard the cage in Saturday's home clash versus Anaheim, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
Askarov watched from the bench during the Sharks' Opening Night clash with the Golden Knights on Thursday. Heading into the 2025-26 campaign, the 23-year-old backstop was expected to be the No. 1 option ahead of Alex Nedeljkovic, but it seems perhaps the team is going to more evenly split the workload this year.

Sharks' Ty Dellandrea: Hands out assist
Dellandrea posted an assist, two shots on goal, four hits and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Golden Knights.
Dellandrea set up a Jeff Skinner tally at 5:31 of the first period. The 25-year-old Dellandrea is getting a chance to center the third line to begin 2025-26. There's still plenty of moving pieces in the middle six -- Will Smith is on the wing and Michael Misa will get his NHL debut at some point. Dellandrea may not stay down the middle all year, but he plays with enough physicality that he should be able to stay in the lineup even if he has to move to the wing or down to the fourth line. However, he had just eight points in 68 appearances in 2024-25, so he's unlikely to be a big scoring threat.
