Top Sharks News

  • Sharks' Patrick Giles: Sent to minors

Giles was reassigned to AHL San Jose on Monday.

Giles spent nearly a week with the Sharks, appearing in three games and logging an assist, three hits and two shots on goal while averaging 8:52 of ice time. He should have more consistent opportunities to contribute with the Barracuda.

  • Sharks' Patrick Giles: Pockets first helper

Giles notched an assist and two hits in Sunday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Red Wings.

This was Giles' first point in three NHL games this season. He appears to have a chance to make an impact in a bottom-six role while Adam Gaudette (upper body) and Ryan Reaves (lower body) are sidelined. Giles had one goal in 17 games between the Panthers and the Sharks last year, so he has yet to really prove himself as a scorer at the NHL level.

  • Sharks' Sam Dickinson: Gets first NHL goal

Dickinson scored a goal on three shots and went plus-2 in Sunday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Red Wings.

This was Dickinson's 10th NHL game, officially activating his entry-level contract. That likely means the 19-year-old is here to stay in the NHL, though that's not guaranteed. He could join Canada at the World Junior Championship in December as well. Dickinson is nonetheless much more likely to stay with the Sharks now, as long as his performance justifies his place in the lineup. He's posted a minus-2 rating, 11 shots on net, six hits, six blocked shots and six PIM so far. Dickinson has sat out on occasion to buy the Sharks more time to make a decision on his 2025-26 season, and he'll likely continue to be a scratch occasionally as part of his development plan. He could force his way into the lineup by being consistent on offense moving forward, but it's still a big jump for a rookie defenseman to skip the AHL en route to a full-time NHL job. Fantasy managers in dynasty formats can activate him when they see fit, but he has a bit of work to do to earn the trust of those in redraft leagues.

  • Sharks' Jeff Skinner: Tallies Sunday

Skinner scored a goal in Sunday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Red Wings.

Skinner has two points over four games since he was a healthy scratch versus the Wild on Oct. 26. The 33-year-old winger has mostly filled a bottom-six role since then, though he was listed on the second line and saw 14:44 of ice time Sunday, which was a game that saw the Sharks dress 11 forwards and seven defensemen. Skinner is at four goals, six points, 24 shots on net and a minus-5 rating through 12 outings this season. He doesn't offer much category coverage, and his offense is unlikely to be strong enough to make up for that.

  • Sharks' Alex Nedeljkovic: Falls in shootout

Nedeljkovic allowed two goals on 31 shots in Sunday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Red Wings.

Nedeljkovic has ceded some playing time to Yaroslav Askarov recently, though they have split the last four games and may be moving back into an alternating pattern. Nedeljkovic put in a second straight strong effort Sunday, as he's allowed four goals on 62 shots while going 1-0-1 over his last two games. The 29-year-old is at 2-2-2 with a 3.29 GAA and an .895 save percentage over six starts this season. The Sharks' next game is on the road versus the Kraken on Wednesday.

  • Sharks' Teddy Mutryn: Earns two points Sunday

Mutryn scored a goal and added an assist in QMJHL Moncton's 4-2 win over Saint John on Sunday.

Mutryn is up to three goals and eight points over nine appearances this season. The 18-year-old center has a pair of multi-point efforts to his name. Mutryn, a Sharks prospect, is playing one year of major junior hockey before heading off to Boston College in 2026-27, and so far, it looks like he's made a good choice to develop his game.

  • Sharks' Alex Nedeljkovic: Starting Sunday

Nedeljkovich will get the start Sunday against the Red Wings, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

After beginning the season alternating games with Yaroslav Askarov, Nedeljkovic has sat in four of the last five games. Nedeljkovic will get the start Sunday with the Sharks on the second of a back-to-back. The 29-year-old has won his last two starts, but he will have his hands full with a Red Wings offense that has scored 17 goals in the last four games.

  • Sharks' Timothy Liljegren: Set to play Sunday

Liljegren (upper body) will be in the lineup against Detroit on Sunday, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.

Liljegren logged only 7:18 of ice time in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over Colorado, but he won't miss additional action due to the injury. He has produced three assists, eight shots on net, 18 blocked shots and 10 hits across nine outings this season.

  • Sharks' William Eklund: Won't play Sunday

Eklund has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Red Wings due to a lower-body injury, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.

Eklund has had a solid start to the season, recording five goals, 11 points, 10 blocked shots, eight hits and two PIM while averaging 19:50 of ice time. He'll be sidelined for the first time this season, but his injury isn't believed to be a long-term concern. Eklund should tentatively be considered day-to-day, while his next chance to suit up will be Wednesday in Seattle.

  • Sharks' Ethan Cardwell: Recalled from AHL

Cardwell was recalled from AHL San Jose on Sunday.

With Ryan Reaves headed to injured reserve, Cardwell has been called up in a corresponding move. The 23-year-old Cardwell has had a solid start to the season with AHL San Jose, registering four points (two goals, two assists) in seven games so far. He'll likely serve as just the 13th forward for now at the NHL level.

  • Sharks' Ryan Reaves: Placed on IR

Reaves (lower body) was put on injured reserve Sunday, according to Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News.

The Sharks recalled Ethan Cardwell in a corresponding move. Reaves is day-to-day after being injured in Thursday's 5-2 win over New Jersey. He will miss his second straight game against Detroit on Sunday, and it's unclear when he will be ready to return. Reaves has two goals, six shots on net, 37 hits and 10 PIM across 10 appearances this season.

  • Sharks' Brandon Svoboda: Four-point burst in loss

Svoboda scored twice on seven shots and added two assists in Boston University's 8-5 loss to the University of Maine on Saturday.

Svoboda had not done much this season prior to the firewagon game that occurred Saturday. He's now at six points over nine games for the Terriers this season. He had just nine points over 33 appearances in 2024-25, though he also put up six points in seven games at the World Junior Championship. The 20-year-old center has never really displayed an elite scoring touch at any level. He's an unsigned prospect for the Sharks after being selected 71st overall in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, and it's unclear if he'll be in San Jose's long-term plans.

... See More ... See Less
  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Riding seven-game point streak

Celebrini scored a goal on six shots and added two PIM in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over the Avalanche.

Celebrini has six goals and seven assists during his seven-game point streak. The 19-year-old phenom is looking ascendant in 2025-26 with seven goals and 18 points through 12 outings. He's added 37 shots, eight hits, six blocked shots and a plus-2 rating. Celebrini has all the tools to be very good for a very long time, and it wouldn't be surprising if he blew right by his 63-point rookie campaign.

... See More ... See Less
  • Sharks' Carson Wetsch: Scores twice for Kelowna

Wetsch scored two goals on five shots in WHL Kelowna's 5-2 win over Vancouver on Saturday.

Wetsch had been more of a playmaker prior to this contest, with just one goal and eight assists in his first eight games of the year. The 19-year-old winger changed that narrative with the two-goal game. He had 33 goals in 68 regular-season appearances with WHL Calgary last year, so there's definitely a scoring touch in his game, which he may be able to build on after Saturday's performance.

... See More ... See Less
  • Sharks' Philipp Kurashev: OT hero in two-goal effort

Kurashev scored two goals, one the overtime winner, in Saturday's 3-2 victory over the Avalanche.

Both goals came in similar fashion, as he snapped shots over Mackenzie Blackwood's glove for the Sharks' last two tallies of the afternoon. Kurashev has found the back of the net in three straight games and has points in four straight, racking up four goals and seven points during that heater. He managed just one goal in his first six contests of 2025-26.

... See More ... See Less
  • Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Nabs second win

Askarov made 37 saves in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over the Avalanche.

Martin Necas slipped the puck past Askarov just 30 seconds into the game. However, the 23-year-old netminder kept his composure and technically didn't let another shot beat him on the afternoon -- a goal was awarded to Nathan MacKinnon in the second period after the net behind Askarov was knocked off its pegs. The win was Askarov's second of the season, with both coming in his last three starts. Through seven outings, he sports a 4.15 GAA and an .867 save percentage to go with his 2-4-1 record.

... See More ... See Less
  • Sharks' Timothy Liljegren: Suffers upper-body injury

Liljegren exited Saturday's clash against Colorado because of an upper-body injury and won't return to the game.

Liljegren had no points in 7:20 of ice time before departing Saturday. That gives him three assists in nine outings this season, including the matchup against the Avalanche. If Liljegren isn't available for Sunday's tilt against Detroit, then Vincent Iorio might draw back into the lineup.
