Top Senators News

  • Senators' Fabian Zetterlund: Finds twine in revenge game

Zetterlund scored a goal and put two shots on net in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Sharks.

Zetterlund helped take down his former team by tying the game at 2-2 with his goal late in the second period. The 26-year-old winger has two goals, five points, 30 shots on net and 35 hits through 21 games this season. Despite serving in a top-six role on the right wing, Zetterlund is lagging behind his scoring pace from the previous few years. There's still time for him to turn things around, but he's best left on the waiver wire outside of deep leagues that value category coverage.

  • Senators' Dylan Cozens: Finds twine on power play

Cozens scored a goal, put four shots on net and dished out two hits in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Sharks.

Cozens posted a strong all-around effort Saturday, highlighted by a power-play goal in the first period to spark Ottawa's offense. With the solid performance, the 24-year-old center is up to eight goals, 16 points, 47 shots on goal and 64 hits in 21 games this season. He's helped fill the void of physicality without Brady Tkachuk (thumb) in the lineup and is on pace to smash his career high of 205 hits that he posted in 82 games between the Sabres and Senators last year. Cozens has also heated up offensively, with six points in his last six games. He is set up nicely to get back toward the 68-point mark he had with Buffalo in the 2022-23 campaign, making him a strong asset in nearly all fantasy formats.

  • Senators' Tim Stutzle: Tallies game-winning goal

Stutzle scored a goal, shared an assist, placed four shots on net, recorded a block, served two PIM and dished out six hits in Saturday's 3-2 win over San Jose.

Stutzle's heroic effort helped lift the Senators to a late comeback win, as he had the primary assist on Dylan Cozens' power-play goal before he scored one at even strength himself with less than seven minutes remaining in regulation. With the pair of points, the 23-year-old Stutzle has 11 goals, 10 assists and 55 shots on net through 21 games this season. He has cooled off from the 12-point run he had through eight games to end October, but he has three multi-point performances in November and continues to be a top source of offense for the Senators. If he can find the scoresheet with more consistency for the remainder of the season, he has a shot to challenge his career high of 90 points in 78 regular-season games during the 2022-23 campaign.

  • Senators' Linus Ullmark: Low volume in win

Ullmark made 17 saves on 19 attempts in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Sharks.

Ullmark saw just 19 attempts on goal, allowed just one even-strength tally and kept the Senators' net clean in the final period. With the win, the 32-year-old netminder has an 8-5-4 record with a 2.95 GAA and an .877 save percentage through 17 outings this season. After a stretch of four total losses in five games, Ullmark has found the win column in back-to-back contests. With just five goals allowed over his last three games, he's trending upward in fantasy and has a case to be rostered in nearly all two-goalie formats. If Ottawa elects to stick with the hot hand over backup netminder Leevi Merilainen, Ullmark will take the ice Monday against the Kings, who beat Ullmark with one goal a few games back.

  • Senators' Thomas Chabot: Appears to aggravate injury

Chabot looked to aggravate his upper-body injury in Saturday's game versus the Sharks, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.

Chabot appeared to tweak something late in the third period and didn't take a shift after that happened. However, he talked to the media after the game, telling Murray Pam of Hockey Hot Stove that he "felt great" upon returning to the lineup Saturday. Typically, players with injuries will not be interviewed after games, so this suggests Chabot may have escaped a serious issue. That said, fantasy managers will want to check on his availability for Monday's game versus the Kings.

  • Senators' Nikolas Matinpalo: Won't play against San Jose

Matinpalo (undisclosed) is not in the lineup for Saturday's road contest versus the Sharks.

Matinpalo was hurt during Thursday's game in Anaheim. While he won't be an option for Saturday's game, Ottawa will get Thomas Chabot, who missed the last three games as a result of an upper-body injury, back in the lineup. The Sens' next game is Monday in Los Angeles.

  • Senators' Ridly Greig: Not expected to play Saturday

Greig (undisclosed) is not in the projected lineup for Saturday's game versus the Sharks.

Greig is poised to miss his second straight game with the injury. He is day-to-day, but it's unclear when the 23-year-old will be ready to return. The Senators' next game is in Los Angeles on Monday as the team's season-long road trip continues.

  • Senators' Linus Ullmark: Starting in San Jose

Ullmark is starting in San Jose on Saturday, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.

Ullmark got back in the win column Thursday in Anaheim following back-to-back losses. The 32-year-old is 2-1-3 with a 2.43 GAA and a .900 save percentage across six outings in November. The Sharks are tied for 21st in the NHL with 2.95 goals per game this season and have won back-to-back games against the Mammoth and Kings.

  • Senators' Thomas Chabot: Removed from IR

Chabot (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Saturday, per the NHL media site.

Following a three-game absence, Chabot is poised to return to the lineup against San Jose on Saturday. He has collected two goals, 10 points, 19 shots on net, 35 blocked shots and 11 hits across 17 appearances this season. The Senators returned Lassi Thomson to AHL Belleville on Saturday to make room for Chabot on the roster.

  • Senators' Lassi Thomson: Sent to AHL

Thomson was reassigned to AHL Belleville on Saturday.

Thomson was a healthy scratch in Thursday's 3-2 win over Anaheim after being recalled from the AHL on Tuesday. The 25-year-old has played 18 career games in the NHL, the last one coming during the 2022-23 campaign.

  • Senators' Olle Lycksell: Activated off IR, placed on waivers

Lycksell (concussion) was taken off injured reserve and put on waivers Friday, per Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia.

Lycksell hasn't been in the lineup since Nov. 8, but his placement on waivers indicates that he's no longer in the concussion protocol. He has a goal in six appearances with Ottawa in 2025-26. Lycksell will presumably report to AHL Belleville if he clears waivers.

  • Senators' Kurtis MacDermid: In part-time role to start season

MacDermid was a healthy scratch Thursday versus the Ducks and has suited up just eight times in 20 games to begin the season.

MacDermid's role is to be an enforcer, but with toughness throughout the lineup, the Senators don't need him to dress every game. He's at 16 PIM, eight hits, four blocked shots, two shots on net and a minus-3 rating through his eight appearances. MacDermid is averaging just 4:25 of ice time, so even when he plays, he's unlikely to put up offense.

  • Senators' Stephen Halliday: Earns helper in NHL debut

Halliday logged a power-play assist in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Ducks.

Halliday saw just 5:28 of ice time in his NHL debut, including 2:01 on the power play. That's where he set up Shane Pinto's game-tying goal at 19:02 of the second period. It's unclear how long Halliday will be with the big club, but he made a decent first impression despite limited action in a fourth-line role. He posted one goal and 15 assists over 15 games with AHL Belleville prior to this call-up.

... See More ... See Less
  • Senators' Nick Cousins: Earns 200th career point with goal

Cousins scored a goal, added two PIM and logged two hits in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Ducks.

Cousins has two goals over his last five games. This tally was the 200th point of his career, a milestone he reached in his 662nd game. The 32-year-old forward has moved around the lineup at times this year but is firmly in a bottom-six role for now. He's at four goals, one assist, 14 shots on net, 40 hits, 31 PIM and a plus-2 rating over 20 appearances in 2025-26.

... See More ... See Less
  • Senators' Nikolas Matinpalo: Unable to return

Matinpalo suffered an undisclosed injury in the third period Thursday and was unable to return, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

Matinpalo was hit hard into the boards by the Ducks' Radko Gudas. There was no update after the game from head coach Travis Green. If Matinpalo is unable to play Saturday in San Jose, look for Lassi Thomson to enter the lineup.

... See More ... See Less
  • Senators' Shane Pinto: Buries power-play tally

Pinto scored a power-play goal on four shots and added two hits in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Ducks.

Pinto has tallied twice over three games since signing his four-year, $30 million contract extension. The 25-year-old center remains in a middle-six role for the Senators. His goal-scoring pace has slowed a bit, but he remains productive all-around with a dash of physicality and an uptick in playmaking. He's at 10 goals, six helpers, 52 shots on net, 18 hits, 15 blocked shots, 12 PIM and a plus-1 rating through 20 appearances, putting him well on his way to a career year.

... See More ... See Less
  • Senators' Drake Batherson: Breaks tie in third period

Batherson scored the game-winning goal on three shots in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Ducks.

Batherson's tally with 1:58 left in the third period stood as the game-winner. He's gone seven games without a multi-point effort, picking up two goals and two assists in that span. For the season, the winger is up to seven goals, 19 points, 35 shots on net, 29 hits and a plus-6 rating over 17 appearances. Batherson should remain a consistent force in the Senators' offense while logging top-six minutes and power-play time.
