Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Comes up short Thursday
DiPietro allowed two goals on 28 shots in Thursday's 2-0 preseason loss to the Flyers.
DiPietro has allowed four goals on 60 shots over two outings this preseason. That level of performance should be more than enough to secure his spot in the backup role this season. Jeremy Swayman will probably get a tune-up Friday versus the Capitals to close out the Bruins' preseason slate, though Jiri Patera could also get a chance to respond to DiPietro's strong exhibition play.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Between pipes Thursday
DiPietro will guard the road goal versus the Flyers in Thursday's preseason game, Belle Fraser of the Bruins' official site reports.
DiPietro was busy in his first preseason game, stopping 30 of 32 shots Sunday versus the Capitals. He'll get a second appearance as he prepares for what will likely be his first full campaign in the NHL, serving as backup to Jeremy Swayman.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Makes 30 saves in preseason win
DiPietro turned aside 30 of 32 shots during Sunday's 3-2 preseason overtime win over the Capitals.
DiPietro drew the start during Sunday's preseason opener and played the entire matchup. He faced plenty of shots and was productive en route to the overtime victory. DiPietro made just one regular-season appearance at the NHL level last year but will likely serve as Jeremy Swayman's backup to begin the 2026-27 season.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Facing Capitals on Sunday
DiPietro will patrol the home crease in Sunday's preseason matchup against Washington, according to Belle Fraser of the Bruins' official site.
DiPietro posted a superb 34-8-1 record with a 1.91 GAA and a .930 save percentage in 45 regular-season appearances for AHL Providence in 2025-26. He will likely begin the 2026-27 campaign as Jeremy Swayman's backup.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Earns third shutout of AHL season
DiPietro posted a 20-save shutout in AHL Providence's 1-0 win over Springfield on Sunday.
DiPietro has won 12 of his last 14 games, posting two shutouts in that span. He's been superb throughout the campaign with a 34-7-1 record, a 1.88 GAA and a .931 save percentage over a career-high 44 games. Providence looks set for a lengthy playoff run, so DiPietro probably won't be getting called up to the NHL unless absolutely necessary.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Cruises to AHL shutout
DiPietro recorded a 13-save shutout in AHL Providence's 7-0 win over Hartford on Saturday.
DiPietro was barely tested in the blowout win. This was his second shutout of the season and the 11th of his AHL career. The 26-year-old goalie is 28-6-0 with a 1.80 GAA and a .936 save percentage over 36 appearances this season, which is his best in the AHL yet.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Sent to AHL Providence
DiPietro was reassigned to AHL Providence on Friday, Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal reports.
DiPietro was recalled on an emergency basis Tuesday and backed up Joonas Korpisalo on Thursday in Boston's 4-2 win over Columbus, and he made two saves in the second period while Korpisalo was being checked out following a collision in the crease with Miles Wood. DiPietro was called up as Jeremy Swayman was given the night off after winning Olympic gold for the United States on Sunday in Italy.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Back up with big club
DiPietro was recalled from AHL Providence on Tuesday on an emergency basis, according to Scott McLaughlin of WEEI.
This is DiPietro's second call-up under emergency conditions in the last week, as he'll continue to help the Bruins in practice as a result of Jeremy Swayman and Joonas Korpisalo competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics. The NHL season resumes Wednesday, but the Bruins aren't back in action until Thursday versus Columbus, so Swayman should be back with the team by then after winning the gold medal Sunday. If that's the case, DiPietro will probably be sent back to Providence in the near future.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Sent back to minors
DiPietro was assigned to AHL Providence on Friday, Scott McLaughlin of WEEI reports.
DiPietro was recalled by Boston on an emergency basis Wednesday, but his return to the minors will allow him to play in games for Providence over the weekend. Over 28 appearances in the AHL this year, he's gone 21-5-0 with a 1.64 GAA and .942 save percentage.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Called up Wednesday
DiPietro was recalled from AHL Providence on an emergency basis Wednesday.
The Bruins have resumed practicing with just over a week remaining before the NHL season resumes, and DiPietro will fill in for the team while Jeremy Swayman and Joonas Korpisalo are competing at the Olympics. Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Earns shutout over Cleveland
DiPietro recorded a 21-save shutout in AHL Providence's 5-0 win over Cleveland on Saturday.
This was DiPietro's fifth win in his last six outings, and it's also his first shutout of the season. He's now at a 15-5-0 record with a 1.74 GAA and a .938 save percentage over 21 appearances. If the Bruins grow tired of Joonas Korpisalo in the backup role, DiPietro could be ready for a longer look at the NHL level, where he hasn't played since 2021-22.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Remains undefeated in AHL this year
DiPietro stopped 42 of 43 shots in AHL Providence's 2-1 win over Cleveland on Friday.
DiPietro has been superb for Providence so far, going 6-0-0 with a 2.17 GAA and a .929 save percentage in six starts. The 26-year-old is doing everything he can to force the Bruins' hands for a call-up, but there's no room for him in the NHL when both Jeremy Swayman and Joonas Korpisalo are healthy and playing well. At this point, DiPietro could be a trade chip for Boston to dangle in front of a team looking to upgrade its goaltending depth.

DiPietro was excellent with Providence last year, going 26-8-7 with a 2.05 GAA and a .927 save percentage across 40 regular-season outings. The Bruins will try to sneak him through waivers, but he's got a chance to be claimed by a goalie-needy team in a busy day of waivers around the league.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Grabs two-year deal
DiPietro signed a two-year, $1.625 million contract with Boston on Monday.
Interestingly, DiPietro's contract is a one-way deal that will make it more expensive to move him to the minors this upcoming season. The Bruins already have both Jeremy Swayman and Joonas Korpisalo under contract, so there figures to be significant competition at the goalie position during training camp.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Added to NHL roster
DiPietro will join the Bruins as a practice player, the team announced Tuesday.
Jeremy Swayman remains with Team USA for the 4 Nations Face-Off, so the Bruins brought DiPietro up from AHL Providence to fill out the roster. Once Swayman rejoins the squad, look for the 25-year-old DiPietro to head back to the minors where he figures to spend the bulk of the remaining games.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Called up by Boston
DiPietro was recalled from AHL Providence on Thursday.
DiPietro was sent down by the Bruins ahead of the regular season, but he'll rejoin the NHL club for the first time this year after head coach Joe Sacco said that Jeremy Swayman was dealing with an injury following his exit from Wednesday's game against the Devils. DiPietro has made 22 appearances for Providence this year, going 14-5-3 with a 1.95 GAA.
