Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Clinches Stanley Cup with shutout
Bussi posted a 22-save shutout in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Golden Knights in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Bussi won the last three games of the series to finish what Frederik Andersen started. The Hurricanes' defense did its part, and Bussi handled the rest to post his first career playoff shutout in the biggest game of his life. He allowed just six goals on 87 shots (.931 save percentage) over his four playoff appearances to help the Hurricanes win the Stanley Cup. After signing a three-year contract extension in February, Bussi is a virtual lock to open 2026-27 on the Hurricanes' NHL roster.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Looking to close out series
Bussi will patrol the road blue paint in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Golden Knights on Sunday, per Ryan Henkel of The Hockey News.
Bussi has won back-to-back starts after replacing Frederik Andersen between the pipes in Game 3. The 27-year-old Bussi has posted a .908 save percentage and a 2.18 GAA over three appearances during this series. The Golden Knights will have a few changes for Game 6 -- William Karlsson (arm) and Keegan Kolesar aren't suiting up, while Reilly Smith and Braeden Bowman are drawing into the lineup. Kaedan Korczak is also set to skate in a third-pairing role at the expense of Dylan Coghlan. If Vegas staves off elimination Sunday, Game 7 would be set for Wednesday in Raleigh.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Puts Carolina one win away
Bussi stopped 23 of 25 shots in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Golden Knights in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Getting the start for the second game in a row, Bussi again delivered a winning performance. He's allowed six goals on 65 shots over his three appearances since taking over in relief of Frederik Andersen in Game 3. At this point, the crease looks to belong to Bussi, who will have two chances to get the last win necessary for the Hurricanes to claim their second championship. Game 6 is set for Sunday in Vegas.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Earns win in Game 4
Bussi stopped 18 of 21 shots in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Golden Knights in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Bussi got the start and delivered a decent performance to pick up the win while Frederik Andersen got some rest. It's too early to say if the Hurricanes have a goaltending controversy brewing, but Bussi has played well so far, allowing four goals on 40 shots over his two appearances in the postseason. The 27-year-old showed Tuesday he can perform when called upon, and it'd likely be a little easier for him if he happens to get the nod in Game 5 on home ice Thursday.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Shines in relief outing
Bussi stopped 18 of 19 shots in relief of Frederik Andersen in Saturday's 5-4 double-overtime loss to the Golden Knights in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Bussi's work allowed the Hurricanes to erase a four-goal deficit in the third period. That would up being all for naught -- a Shea Theodore shot off the back boards bounced around and evaded Bussi at 5:38 of the second overtime for the deciding goal. Still, it was a positive showing for a goalie who hadn't played since April 14 versus the Islanders. Andersen has been the Hurricanes' starter throughout the playoffs, but he's struggled against Vegas, so there's a possibility head coach Rod Brind'Amour turns to Bussi in Tuesday's Game 4.

Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Tending twine in Game 1
Andersen will protect the home goal versus Ottawa in Game 1 on Saturday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
The Hurricanes are going with Andersen's veteran presence in goal, rather than rookie Brandon Bussi, who saw the majority of the action during the regular season. Andersen was 16-14-5 with a 3.05 GAA and a poor .874 save percentage over 35 appearances in 2025-26. Andersen gave up five goals on 30 shots in his lone appearance versus the Senators, a 6-3 loss April 5.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Sharp in Tuesday's finale
Bussi stopped 28 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Islanders.
Pyotr Kochetkov was supposed to start the regular-season finale and even took part in warmups. However, he was ineligible to play due to what the team described as a "roster technicality." As a result, Bussi was in action for a second straight night and played well. He wraps up his first NHL campaign with a 31-6-2 record, a 2.47 GAA and an .894 save percentage. The 27-year-old netminder went 6-0-1 over his final seven starts with a 2.53 GAA and .887 save percentage. It's not yet clear which goalie will get the nod between the pipes when Carolina begins its postseason run.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Downed by Philly in shootout
Bussi turned aside 21 shots in regulation and overtime and three of four shootout attempts in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Flyers.
Carolina grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first period, only for Philly to strike back with two tallies in the second. Bussi and Dan Vladar then shut down all the offense the rest of the way, until Tyson Foerster finally got a shot past the Hurricanes netminder in the fourth round of the shootout. Bussi hasn't taken a regulation loss since March 17, going 5-0-1 over his last six starts, but his 2.79 GAA and .869 save percentage during that time haven't exactly locked him into the No. 1 job in the crease for the team's postseason run.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Hangs on for OT win
Bussi made 16 saves in Tuesday's 6-5 overtime win over the Bruins.

However, Bussi still had work to do to secure his 30th win of the season. Carolina clinched the Metro Division title with the victory, and the team is four points clear of the top Atlantic clubs for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. The 27-year-old, who remains in a timeshare with Frederik Andersen, has won his last four starts, posting a 2.50 GAA and an .884 save percentage over that stretch.
