Sharks' Patrick Giles: Placed on non-roster injured reserve
Rotowire
Giles (upper body) was placed on non-roster injured reserve by the Sharks on Monday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Giles suffered an upper-body injury last week and will land on non-roster injured reserve as he continues to recover from the issue. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to action, but he'll likely head to the minors once he's healthy.

Sharks' Patrick Giles: Suffers upper-body injury
Rotowire
Giles is considered day-to-day because of an upper-body injury, per Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now.
Giles sustained the injury during Tuesday's 2-1 preseason shootout loss to Vegas. He had 10 goals and 24 points in 67 regular-season appearances with AHL San Jose in 2025-26. Giles will probably begin the upcoming campaign in the minors if he's healthy enough to do so.

Sharks' Patrick Giles: Inks two-way deal
Rotowire
Giles signed a two-year, two-way contract extension with the Sharks on Tuesday, according to Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News.
Giles appeared in only three games for the Sharks in 2025-26, picking up an assist and a plus-1 rating. The 26-year-old spent the bulk of the year with AHL San Jose, accounting for 10 goals, 14 helpers and a minus-14 rating across 67 regular-season games. The undrafted winger should not be expected to see much time at the NHL level in 2026-27.

Sharks' Patrick Giles: Pockets first helper
Rotowire
Giles notched an assist and two hits in Sunday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Red Wings.
This was Giles' first point in three NHL games this season. He appears to have a chance to make an impact in a bottom-six role while Adam Gaudette (upper body) and Ryan Reaves (lower body) are sidelined. Giles had one goal in 17 games between the Panthers and the Sharks last year, so he has yet to really prove himself as a scorer at the NHL level.

Sharks' Patrick Giles: Unlikely to play in preseason
Rotowire
Giles (lower body) has resumed skating, but he's not expected to fully recover before training camp ends, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports Thursday.
Although it sounds like Giles won't get into a preseason game, head coach Ryan Warsofsky doesn't believe the forward is too far away from being able to play. Provided the 25-year-old Giles is healthy enough to do so, he's likely to start the season in the minors.

Sharks' Patrick Giles: Recovering from lower-body surgery
Rotowire
Head coach Ryan Warsofsky said Friday that Giles had surgery on a lower-body injury during the offseason and is "a couple weeks away" from returning to the ice, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
Giles made 17 regular-season appearances between Florida and San Jose last year and recorded a goal, 21 hits and seven blocked shots while averaging 9:14 of ice time. He'll likely miss at least most of the preseason while recovering from surgery, and he'll presumably head to the AHL once he's cleared to return.

Sharks' Patrick Giles: Scores first NHL
Rotowire
Giles scored a goal on three shots in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Predators.
The goal was the first of Giles' career, as well as his first point. It took him 11 games to achieve the milestone, though his scoring upside is fairly limited. He's added nine shots on net, 19 hits and a minus-1 rating between the Sharks and the Panthers this season. Giles will face competition for bottom-six minutes once Noah Gregor (not injury related) is able to play, but it looks like the Sharks are willing to give the 25-year-old Giles a fair shake in his audition to stay in the NHL.

Sharks' Patrick Giles: Called up Friday
Rotowire
Giles was called up from AHL San Jose on Friday.
Giles was called up after getting traded from the Panthers in the Vitek Vanecek trade Wednesday. The 25-year-old Giles is going to be in contention for a regular NHL job for the rest of the season as he tries to impress his new team. He had seven points in 39 games with AHL Charlotte, so his upside for fantasy is limited.

Panthers' Patrick Giles: Headed to AHL
Rotowire
Giles is not on Florida's Opening Night roster, according to David Dwork of The Hockey News on Monday.
Giles will report to AHL Charlotte as a result of being waivers exempt -- the 24-year-old provided 23 points in 66 regular-season contests with the Checkers in 2023-24. The right-shot forward will look to make his first NHL appearance in 2024-25 if he can continue developing his game in the minors.
