Locmelis (shoulder) will be in action at the Bruins' rookie camp, Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal reports Monday.
Locmelis saw action in just 43 games for AHL Providence last season in which he generated 15 goals and 13 assists before being sidelined by a shoulder problem. While the 22-year-old center is likely to spend the bulk of the 2026-27 campaign in the minors, he could be a dark-horse candidate to make the Bruins' Opening Night roster.

After being held off the scoresheet in Latvia's tournament opener, the 22-year-old Bruins prospect lit the lamp in the first and second periods Saturday as his team produced a big win. Locmelis has 15 goals and 28 points in 43 games for AHL Providence this season, and he may need to come up big again Sunday against Denmark on a roster that lacks offensive star power.

Locmelis has a pair of two-point efforts over his last three games. The Latvian forward has put forth a good performance in his first full AHL campaign, racking up 11 goals and eight assists through 29 contests. The 21-year-old forward probably won't get a call-up this season, as his development will be best suited by another year or two of strong AHL play.

Locmelis scored two goals in AHL Providence's 3-2 overtime win over Utica on Saturday.
Locmelis opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal in the first period and netted the game-winner in overtime. This was his first multi-point effort of the season. Locmelis has five goals and three assists over 13 games in 2025-26. The Latvian had 12 points in six AHL regular-season outings at the tail end of last year after signing his entry-level contract -- while his pace is slower this year, he's still showing quite a bit of promise.
