Zub had five goals, 30 points, 57 PIM, 66 hits and 120 blocks in 81 regular-season appearances with Ottawa in 2025-26. It remains to be seen how long he will be on the shelf for, but he has been out since April 18. He missed Ottawa's final three playoff games because of the injury.

The Senators announced Wednesday that Zub wouldn't skate for the first day of training camp Thursday, and it now appears as though he'll be sidelined for at least a week. If he can return to the ice on the earlier side of his timetable, it seems possible that he'll be able to ramp up before Ottawa's Opening Night matchup against Toronto on Oct. 3, but it seems likely that he'll at least miss most, or all, of the team's preseason games.

The Senators indicated last week that Zub was expected to be ready for the start of training camp despite continuing to rehab from an injury. While head coach Travis Green said Wednesday that he hopes Zub isn't facing a long-term absence, the 30-year-old defenseman will face at least some limitations for the start of camp. Zub has skated recently, so it still seems as though he'll be in consideration to suit up for Opening Night. Across 81 regular-season appearances last year, he recorded five goals, 25 assists, 120 blocked shots, 66 hits and 57 PIM while averaging 20:48 of ice time.
