  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Expected to play

Montour (ankle) is slated to play against Anaheim on Thursday. Montour had 18 goals, 41 points, 70 PIM, 231 shots, 84 hits and 100 blocks across 81 appearances with Seattle in 2024-25. He should enter the season in a top-four role and receive some power-play ice time. Cale Fleury, who might have played if Montour was unavailable, is projected to be a healthy scratch versus the Ducks.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: On track for opening night

Montour (ankle) is tracking well and expected to be ready for Opening Night, The Sound of Hockey reports Sunday. Montour underwent a minor ankle procedure earlier this month, but head coach Lane Lambert is "very confident" that both he and Jared McCann will be available for the season opener. In the 31-year-old Montour's first season in a Kraken sweater, he scored a career-high 18 goals to go along with 23 assists across 81 outings while averaging 22:59 of ice time. Montour will likely play heavy minutes again this year.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Considered day-to-day

Head coach Lane Lambert said Thursday that Montour (ankle) is considered day-to-day, Alison Lukan of the Kraken Hockey Network reports. Montour had a bursa removed from his ankle in early September. The Kraken announced Sept. 17 that he was expected to miss approximately two weeks, and he's trending in the right direction heading into the second half of training camp. It's not yet clear when the defenseman will be able to return to game action, but it seems possible that he'll be able to suit up early in the regular season.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Undergoes minor procedure

The Kraken announced Wednesday that Montour had a bursa removed from his ankle earlier in September and is expected to miss two weeks. Montour will be sidelined for at least the first half of training camp, though he may still have the time to get into a game or two late in the preseason. With Montour out, look for Ryker Evans to get more power-play looks during exhibition games. If Montour's recovery takes longer, Josh Mahura would be a candidate to step into the lineup.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Completes successful season

Montour scored a power-play goal on five shots and went minus-2 in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Kings. While the Kraken were nothing special in 2024-25, Montour played well in his first year with the team. Through Tuesday's games, he ranks fourth among all NHL defensemen with 18 goals, and he was sixth among all Kraken skaters in goals and points (41). Still, he ended the year a little cold with just two goals over his last 13 contests. He added a total of 231 shots on net, 100 blocked shots, 84 hits, 70 PIM and a minus-22 rating over 81 appearances this season. Montour signed a seven-year deal last summer, so he'll be a key part of the Seattle blue line for quite some time.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Pots game-winner Monday

Montour scored a goal on three shots in Monday's 2-1 win over the Kings. Montour followed up a four-game point streak in mid-March with an eight-game skid that ended late in the first period Monday. His goal at 19:29 of the frame stood as the game-winner. The 30-year-old defenseman is up to 17 goals, 40 points, 219 shots on net, 95 blocked shots, 80 hits, 68 PIM and a minus-15 rating across 77 appearances. The 17 goals are a career high, and this is the second time he's reached the 40-point mark in his nine-year career.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Point streak at four games

Montour notched an assist and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Blackhawks. Montour has three goals and four assists during his four-game point streak. The defenseman is also at 11 points through nine outings in March, a resurgent month for him on offense. Overall, he's earned 16 goals, 23 helpers, 196 shots on net, 80 blocked shots, 73 hits, 43 PIM and a minus-12 rating through 68 appearances in a top-four role with power-play time.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Stays hot with helper

Montour produced an assist, three shots on goal, three hits and a minus-2 rating in Sunday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Jets. Montour has six goals and four helpers over eight contests in March, and that's with him getting on the scoresheet in just six of those games. He helped out on a Michael Eyssimont tally in the first period of Sunday's game. Montour's surge on offense has him up to 38 points (10 on the power play) with 195 shots on net, 73 hits, 80 blocked shots, 43 PIM and a minus-14 rating over 67 appearances this season. He's poised to reach the 40-point mark for the second time in his career barring a lengthy slump to close out 2024-25.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Makes history in overtime win

Montour scored twice on three shots, dished two power-play assists, blocked two shots and added two PIM in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Canadiens. Montour's second goal came just four seconds into overtime, the fastest tally from the start of overtime in NHL history. Chandler Stephenson won a faceoff and Montour rushed past a Montreal defender to fire home the game-winning goal from the slot, capping an impressive individual effort for the defenseman in this contest. This was his second four-point game of the season as well as his third multi-goal effort. He has five tallies and three assists over six outings in March, and Montour is up to 15 goals, 36 points (10 on the power play), 190 shots on net, 79 blocked shots, 69 hits, 43 PIM and a minus-15 rating through 65 appearances this season.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Snipes 13th of season

Montour scored a goal in a 4-1 win over the Flyers on Saturday. Montour scored on a one-timer from the right point early in the third period to seal the game at 4-1. He hasn't reprised his extraordinary 73-point heroics from the 2022-23 regular season, but he has been a steady presence on the Seattle blue line. Montour has 13 goals, 19 assists and 185 shots in 63 games, which puts him on pace to top 40 points for the second time in his career.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Tallies in loss

Montour scored a goal on seven shots and added two hits in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Wild. Montour has four points over his last four contests. He's had spotty production for much of 2025, but it looks like his offense is thawing out now. The 30-year-old blueliner is up to 12 goals, 31 points, 178 shots on net, 74 blocked shots, 66 hits and a minus-11 rating through 61 appearances. He continues to see time in a top-four role at even strength as well as featuring on the power play.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Adds helper in loss

Montour recorded an assist in Sunday's 4-1 loss against Tampa Bay. Montour's helper came late in the game on Shane Wright's goal to prevent the shutout. The 30-year-old Montour is up to 18 assists, 28 points and 166 shots on net in 58 appearances this season. Montour got off to a hot start this season with nine points in his first 10 games but has just seven points since the start of 2025, a span of 21 contests. It is encouraging to see him get back on the scoresheet, but he will need to showcase more consistent offensive output to get back to being a top defenseman for fantasy.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Expected to play Saturday

Montour (upper body) is slated to return Saturday versus Florida. Montour has 10 goals, 27 points, 37 PIM, 61 hits and 70 blocks in 56 appearances in 2024-25. He was injured during Seattle's 3-2 overtime win over Calgary on Feb. 8, but because of the 4 Nations Face-Off break, Montour didn't end up missing a full game.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Traveling with team

Montour (upper body) is with the Kraken for the start of their three-game road trip, Kate Shefte of The Seattle Times reports. Montour was hurt in the Kraken's last game before the 4 Nations Face-Off, but it looks like the break came at a good time for him and the team. The 30-year-old's status has yet to be officially updated, but his presence on the road trip bodes well for his availability Saturday against his former team, the Panthers.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Injured Saturday

Montour (upper body) won't finish Saturday's game versus the Flames. Montour was injured in the first period and was unable to return. The 30-year-old defenseman's injury comes at a decent time -- the Kraken don't play again until Feb. 22 versus the Panthers, so he shouldn't miss any additional time if it's a short-term issue. If it ends up being a more serious injury, the Kraken will likely need to call up a defenseman, though they could fill the gap if Ryker Evans (upper body) gets healthy during the break.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Double dips to end goal drought

Montour scored twice and blocked three shots in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Sharks. Montour had been limited to five assists and a minus-13 rating over his last 20 outings. He snapped the goal drought at 2:54 of the second period with what was ultimately the game-winner, and he added a power-play tally after the Sharks brought in Alexandar Georgiev to replace Yaroslav Askarov. Despite the poor play over the last six weeks, Montour remains in a top-four role and still has good numbers overall. He's at 10 goals, 27 points, 147 shots on net, 62 blocked shots, 57 hits, 35 PIM and a minus-5 rating through 52 appearances.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Garners two helpers

Montour notched two assists and four shots on goal in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Ducks. Montour ended a nine-game point drought with his pair of helpers, one of which came on the power play. The Kraken's offense has been inconsistent, but it looks bad for Montour compared to his usual level of performance. The blueliner is now at 25 points (seven on the power play), 145 shots on net, 59 blocked shots, 56 hits and a minus-6 rating across 51 appearances.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Mixed results in loss

Montour notched an assist, six shots on goal, two blocked shots and a minus-4 rating in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Blue Jackets. Montour's pace on offense has dropped in recent weeks -- he has a somewhat modest four points over his last 11 appearances. He also has a minus-12 rating in that span, as the Kraken have too often struggled to keep the puck out of their own net. Montour is now at 23 points, 117 shots on net, 49 blocked shots, 48 hits and a minus-3 rating through 41 appearances in his first year with Seattle. He should still be able to surpass his 33-point performance from the 2023-24 regular season with the Panthers, but his fantasy utility is as a supporting defenseman rather than a league-winner.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Earns 200th career helper

Montour provided a power-play assist, fired three shots on goal, added two PIM and doled out two hits in Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Canucks. Montour ended a four-game slump with the helper. That dry spell matched his longest of the season, though more notably, he is 19 games removed from his last multi-point effort. The 30-year-old blueliner is up to eight goals, 14 assists, six power-play points, 109 shots on net, 45 hits, 44 blocked shots, 28 PIM and a plus-3 rating through 38 appearances. He remains firmly in a top-four role.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: Earns power-play assist

Montour notched a power-play assist, four PIM and a minus-2 rating in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Islanders. Montour has a helper in three straight contests, but this was his first power-play point since Oct. 29. The defenseman has three goals and four assists over his last eight outings. For the season, he continues to offer strong offense with 18 points (four on the power play) while adding 87 shots on net, 38 hits, 29 blocked shots, 22 PIM and a plus-5 rating across 26 appearances.
