  • Capitals' Justin Holl: Signs with Washington

Holl signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with the Capitals on Wednesday, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports. Holl spent most of the 2025-26 campaign in the minors, making 41 regular-season appearances for AHL Grand Rapids and recording two goals, 12 assists and 10 PIM. However, he had averaged 63.8 regular-season NHL appearances across the previous six campaigns, and he'll presumably have an opportunity to compete for an NHL role with his new team.

  • Blues' Justin Holl: Nets winner against former team

Holl scored a goal in a 5-1 win over Toronto on Saturday. Holl's marker was his first goal of the season. It made the score 2-0 midway through the second, and the tally stood as the game-winner. Holl spent the first six seasons of his career with the Maple Leafs (2017-2023). He has one goal, one assist and four shots in six outings this campaign.

  • Blues' Justin Holl: Earns helper in team debut

Holl had an assist and went plus-2 in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Ducks. Holl was acquired from the Red Wings in the Justin Faulk trade Friday. The 34-year-old Holl was with AHL Grand Rapids prior to the trade, but the Blues need him in the NHL currently while Colton Parayko (back) is out of the lineup. Holl hadn't seen NHL ice since 2024-25, when he posted just eight points in 73 contests for the Red Wings. He has minimal offensive upside, and his physical play took a severe downturn last year, so the blueliner is unlikely to be a factor in fantasy.

  • Blues' Justin Holl: Flipped in Faulk deal

Holl was traded to St. Louis, along with Dmitri Buchelnikov and a 2026 first-round and 2026 third-round pick, from Detroit on Friday in exchange for Justin Faulk. Holl appeared in 73 games for the Red Wings last season, notching eight points, but hasn't been able to break into the lineup this year. With AHL Grand Rapids, the blueliner has produced two goals and 12 helpers in 41 contests. Per the NHL media site, Holl will start his time with the Blues on the NHL roster.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Loaned to AHL affiliate

Holl was sent to AHL Grand Rapids on Saturday. Holl was recalled Thursday and was the extra defenseman in the Red Wings' 4-3 loss to Washington. Holl had two goals and eight assists in 31 AHL games before his recall.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Placed on waivers

Holl was placed on waivers by the Red Wings, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports Sunday. Holl was placed on the waivers ahead of final cuts by the Red Wings last year, but he still went on to record eight points across 73 games at the NHL level in 2024-25. The 33-year-old is in the last season of a three-year, $10.2 million contract.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Rare goal in loss

Holl scored a goal and added an assist in a 4-3 overtime loss to Toronto on Thursday. Holl shot from the blue line over Joseph Woll's glove to push the Red Wings up 2-1 early in the second period. Holl finished the season with three points (one goal, two assists) in his last three games. Prior to that, Holl had just one goal and five assists in his previous 72 games.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Still cold on offense

Holl's point drought reached 25 games in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Hurricanes. In that span, Holl has a minus-5 rating, 20 blocked shots, 15 shots on net, nine hits and six PIM. He's a third-pairing defenseman for the Red Wings, so it's no surprise there's a lack of offense in his game, but he's usually a more physical player. This season, he's been limited to five points, 29 shots on net, 28 hits, 59 blocks, 16 PIM and a minus-8 rating through 58 appearances.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Enters break in slump

Holl was held off the scoresheet for the 14th consecutive game in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Lightning. Holl went minus-4 with 12 blocked shots in that span. The 33-year-old has settled into a third-pairing role during the absence of Jeff Petry (undisclosed), and barring any trades for defensive reinforcements, Holl should resume playing there when the Red Wings' schedule restarts Feb. 22 versus the Wild. He's unlikely to interest most fantasy managers given his lack of offense -- he has five points with 20 shots on net, 51 blocked shots, 25 hits and a minus-7 rating over 47 outings this season.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Snags assist Friday

Holl registered an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Friday's 5-3 win over the Blackhawks. Holl has two helpers over four contests in January. The 32-year-old blueliner hasn't typically generated much offense, picking up just five points with 14 shots on net and a minus-3 rating over 33 appearances. He's added 19 hits and 39 blocked shots. Holl's spot in the lineup appears to be safe until Jeff Petry (undisclosed) is ready to be activated from injured reserve.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Sends helper in win

Holl recorded an assist in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Blue Jackets. Holl ended a 13-game point drought with the helper. The 32-year-old was scratched just once in that span, and it appears he's mostly separated himself from being at danger of sitting out, which has most often happened to Erik Gustafsson and Albert Johansson. Holl could even see a larger role if Jeff Petry (undisclosed) misses time after getting hurt Thursday. Holl is at four points, 11 shots on net, 18 hits and 36 blocked shots through 30 appearances, so he won't be a strong fantasy option even if he continues to play regularly.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Maintaining decent playing time

Holl has been scratched just once over 11 games in December. Holl doesn't have a point and has gone minus-5 with seven hits and 11 blocked shots over his 10 appearances this month. The 32-year-old defenseman has been holding a large share of playing time in a bottom-four role, and he's had a little more ice time while the Red Wings deal with injuries to Simon Edvinsson (upper body) and Ben Chiarot (upper body). Holl is at three points, 34 blocked shots, 16 hits and a minus-2 rating over 26 contests this season.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Gets first goal of season

Holl scored a goal, blocked three shots and added two PIM in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Devils. Holl has played in four straight games and has two points in that span. The defenseman is up to three points, five shots on net, 23 blocked shots, nine hits and a plus-3 rating over 16 appearances. His production across the board is too low to be helpful in fantasy, but it appears he's carving out a larger role in the lineup.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Finds assist in win

Holl logged an assist in Monday's 4-2 win over the Islanders. Holl picked up his second helper of the year. He's been in the lineup in seven of 11 contests in November, though he continues to be in competition with Albert Johansson and Erik Gustafsson for third-pairing minutes. Holl has added 17 blocked shots, eight hits, four shots on net and a plus-2 rating through 14 appearances this season, so he's not even really standing out with physicality, which is typically his biggest strength.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Heading back up Wednesday

Holl was recalled from AHL Grand Rapids on Wednesday. Holl's promotion doesn't bode well for Jeff Petry's (upper body) availability versus the Rangers on Thursday, though it could be more of a precautionary move. Even if Petry can't play, the 32-year-old Holl is far from guaranteed a spot in the lineup, as both Erik Gustafsson and Albert Johansson will be looking for minutes.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Sent back to minors

Holl was reassigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Thursday. Holl demotion could just be a product of the Wings' schedule, with the team not back in action until Thursday's clash with the Rangers. Still, it could also mean that Jeff Petry (upper body) is ready to return to the lineup after missing the previous two contests. Regardless, Holl likely will continue to shuffle between levels this season depending on the health of Detroit's blue line.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Joining NHL club

Holl will be called up by the Red Wings ahead of Saturday's game against Nashville, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports. Holl was sent to the minors ahead of the regular season, but he's slated rejoin the NHL club since Jeff Petry (upper body) will be unavailable. Petry is considered day-to-day, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Holl return to the AHL once Petry is medically cleared. It's unclear if Holl will see any playing time against the Predators.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Opportunities scarce in Motown

Holl was a part-time player for the Red Wings in 2023-24, with five assists representing his point total through 38 games. Expectations were high for Holl since the Wings granted him a three-year, $10.2 million contract last summer, but the right-shot defenseman wasn't utilized nearly as often as he was with the Maple Leafs for the first six years of his NHL career. In 2022-23, Holl picked up a pair of goals, 16 assists, 139 blocked shots and 151 hits in 80 games for Toronto, and he averaged 20:14 of ice time. The Wings' blue line was much more crowded in comparison this year, leaving Holl as the odd-man out in terms of opportunities.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Provides helper

Holl logged an assist, two shots on goal, two hits and two PIM in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Sharks. Holl had been scratched for the previous two games, his longest stint in the press box this season. The 31-year-old continues to rotate through the lineup with Olli Maatta and Jeff Petry also occasionally sitting out. Holl has five assists, 25 hits, 20 PIM, 27 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating through 26 outings. He adds some physicality, but he's not much of a scorer, so he won't help much in fantasy.

  • Red Wings' Justin Holl: Contributes assist in narrow win

Holl registered an assist in Friday's 7-6 shootout win over the Flyers. Holl delivered an apple with the goal credited to Patrick Kane, who picked up three points and secured the victory for Detroit in the shootout. The 31-year-old Holl's playing time has been somewhat limited this season, but he was pressed into duty Friday, as the Wings did not have Olli Maatta's services for most of the game due to his upper-body injury.
