  • Avalanche's Brett Kulak: Lands five-year extension

Kulak signed a five-year, $22.5 million contract with the Avalanche on Friday. Kulak was moved around during the 2025-26 campaign, spending time with the Oilers, Penguins and Avalanche. However, he'll gain some stability over the next few years after he was slated to become a free agent during the offseason. Across 83 regular-season appearances between his three teams last season, he logged a goal, 11 assists, 108 blocked shots, 38 PIM and 19 hits while averaging 18:58 of ice time.

  • Avalanche's Brett Kulak: Unlikely hero seals series win

Kulak scored a goal and added an assist in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Wild in Game 5. Kulak's first goal of the postseason came at 3:52 of overtime, completing the Avalanche's comeback from a 3-0 first-period deficit. The defenseman has contributed a goal, four assists, eight shots on net, 20 blocked shots, six PIM and a plus-3 rating over nine playoff outings. He should continue to see top-four minutes in the Western Conference Finals.

  • Avalanche's Brett Kulak: Dishes pair of helpers

Kulak notched two assists and two blocked shots in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Wild in Game 2. Kulak has earned three helpers over six playoff outings while filling a top-four role on the blue line. He'll be tasked with continuing to fill a shutdown role as Josh Manson (upper body) works his way back into playing shape. Kulak has added 17 blocked shots, five shots on goal, six PIM and a plus-3 rating this postseason.

  • Avalanche's Brett Kulak: Snaps drought with helper

Kulak notched an assist in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Flames. Kulak had gone 18 games without a point entering Tuesday. He's filled in for a few blueliners recently, most notably Cale Makar, who returned from an upper-body injury Tuesday. Devon Toews (undisclosed) was out, allowing Kulak to stay in a top-four role, but if the Avalanche are healthy in the postseason, Kulak could be a bottom-four option. Between Colorado, Pittsburgh and Edmonton this year, he has one goal, 12 points, 93 shots on net, 106 blocked shots, 38 PIM and a minus-4 rating over 82 appearances.

  • Avalanche's Brett Kulak: First point with new team

Kulak generated an assist in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Ducks. The helper was Kulak's first point in five games with the Avalanche. The defenseman has taken on a third-pairing role since he was acquired from the Penguins. For three teams this season, Kulak has accumulated 10 points, 68 shots on net, 85 blocked shots, 28 PIM and a minus-3 rating over 61 appearances.

  • Avalanche's Brett Kulak: Acquired by Colorado

Kulak was obtained by the Avalanche from the Penguins on Tuesday in exchange for Samuel Girard and a 2028 second-round pick. Kulak will now play for his third different team this season after being dealt to the Penguins from the Oilers in December. Kulak is known more for his efforts in the defensive zone, but his offensive numbers could marginally improve playing on a high-flying Colorado squad. With his new club, Kulak will fill a bottom-four role, most likely on the third pairing next to Sam Malinski.

  • Penguins' Brett Kulak: Deposits goal Monday

Kulak scored a goal on two shots, added four PIM and went plus-3 in Monday's 6-3 win over the Kraken. Kulak snapped a seven-game point drought with the goal. The 32-year-old has seen regular top-four usage lately and is also receiving power-play time in the absence of Erik Karlsson (lower body). Kulak has one goal, four assists, 55 shots on net, 70 blocked shots, 28 PIM and a minus-5 rating over 48 appearances between the Penguins and the Oilers this season.

  • Penguins' Brett Kulak: First point with new team

Kulak notched an assist in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Hurricanes. This was Kulak's first point as a Penguin, to go with 12 blocked shots, two hits, two shots on goal, two PIM and a plus-1 rating. He's taken on top-four minutes, but his defensive playing style will keep him out of the mix in most fantasy formats. For the season, he has just three helpers with 50 blocks, six hits, 35 shots on net, 12 PIM and a minus-6 rating over 38 appearances between Pittsburgh and Edmonton.

  • Penguins' Brett Kulak: Activated from non-roster list

Kulak (not injured related) was added to the active roster Monday. After being acquired by Pittsburgh from Edmonton on Friday, Kulak sat out two straight games as a non-roster player while he settled his immigration paperwork. Now that he has received clearance, he should be available to make his Pittsburgh debut against his former team when the Penguins host the Oilers on Tuesday. Kulak has two assists, 33 shots on goal and 38 blocked shots in 31 appearances this season.

  • Penguins' Brett Kulak: Unavailable Saturday

Kulak (not injury related) won't be available for Saturday's game against San Jose after being given non-roster status. Kulak was dealt to Pittsburgh from Edmonton on Friday and needs to settle some immigration paperwork before being available to play. He had two assists in 31 games with the Oilers this season.

  • Penguins' Brett Kulak: Included in Jarry deal

Kulak was flipped to the Penguins from the Oilers on Friday, along with Stuart Skinner and a 2029 second-round pick, in exchange for Tristan Jarry and Samuel Poulin. Kulak joins a crowded blue line that already includes veterans Connor Clifton and Matt Dumba, which makes it difficult to see where he fits into the lineup. In 31 games this year, the 31-year-old Kulak notched two helpers but has yet to find the back of the net while registering 33 shots. With general manager Kyle Dubas stockpiling defensemen, it's possible he's not done wheeling and dealing.

  • Oilers' Brett Kulak: Cold on offense

Kulak's point drought reached 22 games in Thursday's 9-4 win over the Kraken. Kulak was not one of the 11 Oilers to get on the scoresheet in this blowout win. During the slump, the defenseman has 29 shots on net, 26 blocked shots and a minus-16 rating. He's been a fixture on the third pairing, but Kulak's total lack of offense -- two assists in 28 outings -- makes him a no-go for most fantasy formats.

  • Oilers' Brett Kulak: Two apples in loss

Kulak registered two assists and tallied a blocked shot in Sunday's 4-2 loss to Detroit. Kulak had a secondary helper on Noah Philp's goal before distributing the primary assist on Leon Draisaitl's tally. The 31-year-old defenseman now has two helpers and six blocks through six games this season. He is coming off a career-high 25 points in 82 regular-season in 2024-25. If he can continue to find Draisaitl and the rest of Edmonton's offensive threats, Kulak might be able to push for a career high in assists after distributing a personal-best 18 last year. For now, however, he is best kept off the fantasy radar.

  • Oilers' Brett Kulak: Offers helper in win

Kulak logged an assist and two blocked shots in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Stars in Game 4. Kulak is on a three-game point streak, earning a goal and two assists in that span. The defenseman is up to five points, 16 shots on net, 29 blocked shots, 13 hits and a plus-8 rating over 15 playoff appearances. Kulak continues to handle heavy defensive minutes, though he can chip in a little depth scoring as well.

  • Oilers' Brett Kulak: Finds twine in win

Kulak scored a goal in Friday's 3-0 win over the Stars in Game 2. Kulak got a second chance on a rush play and buried the goal to put the Oilers ahead 2-0 at 15:23 of the second period. This snapped a six-game point drought for the defenseman. He's seeing top-four minutes at this stage of the playoffs, though his role could be reduced if Mattias Ekholm (undisclosed) is able to return during the Western Conference Finals. Kulak has three points, a plus-5 rating, 15 shots on net, 10 hits and 23 blocked shots over 13 playoffs appearances.

  • Oilers' Brett Kulak: Manages helper in win

Kulak provided an assist, two hits and five blocked shots in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Kings in Game 6. Kulak continues to play an important defensive role for the Oilers, functioning as a top-four defenseman despite being listed on the third pairing. The 31-year-old had two assists, a plus-5 rating, eight shots on net, six hits and 12 blocked shots over six postseason contests in the first round.

  • Oilers' Brett Kulak: Bags apple Sunday

Kulak notched an assist, three shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Jets. Kulak set up Viktor Arvidsson's empty-net goal to seal the win. The 31-year-old Kulak has two helpers over his last three games as he works to shake off a 10-game point drought from March 18 to April 7. The defenseman has reached the 25-point mark for the first time in his career and has added 132 shots on net, 109 blocked shots and a minus-8 rating over 80 appearances. Given the Oilers' significant number of injuries on the blue line, Kulak is poised to play in all 82 games for the third year in a row.

  • Oilers' Brett Kulak: Deals assist in win

Kulak logged an assist and five shots on goal in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Blues. Kulak played a massive role with the Oilers able to dress only five defensemen due to the injuries to Jake Walman (undisclosed) and Mattias Ekholm (undisclosed). The extra playing time helped Kulak end a 10-game point drought. In that span, he had 20 shots on net, eight blocked shots and a minus-6 rating. Despite the recent struggles, the 31-year-old blueliner has still enjoyed a career year. He's at seven goals, 17 helpers, 128 shots on net, 107 blocked shots and a minus-10 rating over 78 appearances, playing more of a shutdown role in the bottom four on most occasions.

  • Oilers' Brett Kulak: Chips in with helper

Kulak notched an assist and two blocked shots in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers. Kulak has two helpers over his last three contests. The 31-year-old had the secondary assist on Connor McDavid's tally in the third period. Kulak continues to impress in a depth role on the blue line, earning a career-high 23 points with 103 shots on net, 98 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating over 67 appearances. While he's been a good stabilizing presence for the Oilers, his lack of big numbers in non-scoring areas limits his fantasy appeal to deep formats.

  • Oilers' Brett Kulak: Under the weather

Kulak is dealing with an illness and did not skate Monday, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports. Edmonton recalled Cam Dineen from AHL Bakersfield on an emergency basis Monday, so Kulak's availability for Tuesday's game against the Ducks is in question. Kulak has yet to miss a game this season. If the left-shot blueliner can't suit up Tuesday, Troy Stecher or Dineen will fill his spot in the lineup.
