  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Makes 30 saves in OT win

Grubauer stopped 30 of 32 shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over the Penguins. Grubauer was beaten once in even strength and once on the power play by Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, respectively, but he looked composed the rest of the way and put up a solid line en route to an OT win. The 30 saves were a season-high mark for Grubauer, who seems to be entrenched as the backup behind Joey Daccord. As long as Grubauer remains in this role, his upside will be close to minimal and strictly matchup-based.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Slated to start Saturday

Grubauer was the first goaltender off the ice at morning practice, Piper Shaw of Kraken Hockey Network reports, indicating he will defend the road goal in Pittsburgh on Saturday. Grubauer has won three straight games and has provided the Kraken with excellent backup goaltending. He is 3-0-1 with a 2.20 GAA and a .903 save percentage across five appearances this season. He will face a tired Penguins team that dropped a 5-0 decision at home Friday to Minnesota.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Perfect in relief Saturday

Grubauer stopped all 19 shots he faced in relief of Matt Murray (lower body) in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Sharks. Grubauer played just over two periods after Murray was hurt on the Sharks' lone goal late in the first. The 33-year-old Grubauer is now the only healthy goalie on the Kraken roster, so he may see a brief uptick in playing time until Joey Daccord (upper body) returns. Grubauer has gone 3-0-1 with a 2.21 GAA and a .903 save percentage over five appearances. Don't expect those numbers to last -- fantasy managers adding him should be looking for playing time if he gets a chance to serve as the starter. The Kraken are set for a four-game road trip over the next week, beginning Tuesday in Detroit.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Allows three goals in win

Grubauer stopped 23 of 26 shots in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Jets. Grubauer has won both of his starts since Joey Daccord (upper body) landed on injured reserve. The 33-year-old Grubauer has still given up six goals on 45 shots in those two outings, which is far from encouraging work, but the wins have been enough to see him split the crease with Matt Murray. Through four appearances, Grubauer is 2-0-1 with nine goals allowed on 74 shots. The Kraken will host a Sharks team Saturday that is coming off a 2-0 loss to the Flames.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Expected to start Thursday

Grubauer was the first goaltender off the ice at morning skate, Mike Benton of the Kraken Audio Network reports, and is in line to get the start at home versus Winnipeg on Thursday. Grubauer will make only his second start in the Kraken's last 11 games. He is 1-0-1 across three appearances this season, allowing six goals on 48 shots. Grubauer will face the Jets, who are generating 3.25 goals per game, 13th in the NHL.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Nabs first win in OT

Grubauer made 16 saves in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Blues. The veteran netminder seemed headed for the loss until Chandler Stephenson tied the game with two seconds left in regulation, before Shane Wright capped a dominant OT by the Kraken with the winner. It was Grubauer's first win of the season in only his third appearance, but he figures to see a heavy workload in the short term while Joey Daccord (upper body) is on the shelf.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Needed in relief Monday

Grubauer stopped all six shots he faced after replacing Joey Daccord to begin the third period of Monday's 5-2 loss to the Flyers. It was only the second appearance of the season for the veteran goalie, as Daccord has dominated the crease for the Kraken in the early going. In four-plus periods of work so far, Grubauer has allowed three goals on 29 shots, recording an overtime loss in his only start.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Allows three goals in shootout loss

Grubauer stopped 21 of 24 shots in Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Senators. Grubauer made his first start of the season in this matchup to give Joey Daccord a much-needed night off after the Kraken's last two matchups went to overtime. Grubauer posted an .875 save percentage in 2024-25 and should operate as the Kraken's No. 2 goaltender this season as long as Daccord stays healthy, so his chances of making a regular impact in fantasy won't be very high.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Expected to start Thursday

Grubauer is expected to start Thursday's road game against Ottawa, Geoff Baker of the Kraken's official site reports. Joey Daccord started Seattle's first three games of the season, but it appears as though he'll get the night off Thursday after the Kraken's last two matchups went to overtime. Grubauer made 26 regular-season appearances for Seattle last year, going 8-17-1 with a 3.49 GAA and .875 save percentage.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: In net against Calgary

Grubauer was the first goaltender off the ice at Tuesday's morning skate, according to Mike Benton of the Kraken Audio Network, indicating that he will start in Calgary. Grubauer is expected to start the season as Seattle's No. 2 netminder, but he has competition for that role in the form of Matt Murray, who signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the club July 1. Grubauer underwhelmed in 2024-25, but general manager Jason Botterill said in June that the team believes Grubauer can have a bounce-back season.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: No buyout on horizon

The Kraken will not buy out Grubauer's contract after a poor statistical season, Kate Shefte of The Seattle Times reported Friday. General manager Jason Botterill confirmed that the team will work with Grubauer and try to improve the team in front of him. The club is confident that Grubauer can bounce back. The 33-year-old netminder went 8-17-1 with a 3.49 GAA and an .875 save percentage across 26 regular-season appearances in 2024-25. These numbers were by far his worst in the NHL. Grubauer will be available late in drafts for 2025-26 and could be an astute stash if he can truly turn things around.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Prevails in shootout

Grubauer stopped 20 of 23 shots in Saturday's 4-3 shootout win over the Blues. Grubauer let a couple of one-goal leads slip away, but he never let the Blues pull out too far ahead. In the shootout, he played a starring role, stopping five of seven attempts to help the Kraken get the win. Grubauer is up to 8-17-1 with a 3.49 GAA and an .875 save percentage over 26 outings. He's redeemed himself a bit since a stint at AHL Coachella Valley, going 3-2-0 with 11 goals allowed on 129 shots (.915 save percentage) over his last five outings. Still, don't be surprised to see Joey Daccord get the nod for the Kraken's season finale at home versus the Kings on Tuesday.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Starting vs. Blues

Grubauer will get the home start Saturday against St. Louis, per Sound of Hockey. Grubauer will be between the pipes for Seattle in the team's penultimate game this season. It'll be the first start since March 31 for the 33-year-old, who has a 7-17-1 record with a 3.52 GAA and an .875 save percentage in 25 appearances this season.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Available Thursday

Grubauer (illness) is available for Thursday's road game against Vegas, per the NHL media site. Joey Daccord will get the start, but Grubauer is the only other goaltender on Seattle's roster, so it seems he will serve as the understudy. Grubauer has a 7-17-1 record, 3.52 GAA and .875 save percentage in 25 appearances this season.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Will not suit up Tuesday

Grubauer is battling an illness and won't suit up for Tuesday's game versus Utah, Mike Benton of the Kraken Audio Network reports. Grubauer likely would have been in line to start Tuesday after Joey Daccord played Monday in Los Angeles, but a flu bug has changed the plans. It's unclear if Grubauer will be ready to go Thursday at Vegas. Tuesday's game concludes the last back-to-back set on the Kraken's schedule, so it's possible Grubauer may not get another game this season.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Gives up two goals Monday

Grubauer stopped 28 of 30 shots in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Stars. The third goal was an empty-netter with 1:07 left in the third period. Grubauer looked solid between the posts against one of the best teams in the Western Conference, but the offense didn't provide him enough support. Grubauer was limited to just four appearances in March, but his numbers were decent, as he went 2-2-0 with a 2.03 GAA and a .925 save percentage while stopping 98 of the 106 shots he faced.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Drawing home start

Grubauer is set to start in Monday's home matchup against the Stars, per Davy Jones' Locker Room. Grubauer's last start was in a 4-0 loss to Minnesota on March 19. The veteran netminder has played better of late, albeit a small sample size, going 2-1-0 with a .921 save percentage and a 2.02 GAA across three appearances this month. The Stars are tied for fourth in the NHL with 3.41 goals per game and defeated the Kraken 5-1 in the first half of this back-to-back set in Seattle on Saturday.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Gets no help in loss

Grubauer stopped 24 of 27 shots in Wednesday's 4-0 loss to the Wild. The fourth goal was an empty-netter. Grubauer gave up three goals within the first 4:29 of the contest. The Kraken were able to make an effort on offense with 34 shots on net, but they couldn't solve Filip Gustavsson, handing Grubauer his first loss in three outings since he returned from AHL Coachella Valley. The 33-year-old netminder is down to 7-16-1 with a 3.59 GAA and an .873 save percentage over 24 appearances. Grubauer has been far too inconsistent to be trusted in fantasy, and he's unlikely to see much more than one start a week for the remainder of the campaign. Look for Joey Daccord to draw the start in Saturday's road game versus the Oilers.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Starting in Minnesota

Grubauer will start Wednesday's road game versus the Wild, Jessi Pierce of NHL.com reports. Since coming back to the big club March 2, Grubauer has won both of his starts, allowing three goals on 49 shots. He'll have a tough task Wednesday, as the Kraken are on the second half of a back-to-back after Joey Daccord backstopped them to a 6-2 win over the Blackhawks on Tuesday. The Wild have been lacking on offense lately -- they haven't exceeded three goals in any of their last six games, with their last instance above that mark being a March 4 win over the Kraken.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Wins again Friday

Grubauer stopped 23 of 25 shots in Friday's 4-2 win over Utah. Grubauer's time with AHL Coachella Valley looks to have served him well to get back on track. He's allowed just three goals on 49 shots over two starts, both wins, since returning from the minor-league club March 2. The 33-year-old could help alleviate Joey Daccord's workload down the stretch -- Daccord's performance has started to crater under heavy usage, and Grubauer may just be the hot hand currently. For the season, Grubauer is 7-15-1 with a 3.61 GAA and an .872 save percentage over 23 appearances. Even if he's able to claim a larger role, fantasy managers may want to proceed with caution.
