Malkin scored a power-play goal in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Kraken.
Malkin found the back of the net thanks to a wrister at 5:56 of the second period, and now he has six goals on the season. The veteran playmaker has been extremely productive of late and has cracked the scoresheet in all but two of his last 10 games, tallying three goals, five assists, four PIM, 26 shots and two hits over that stretch. However, he hasn't recorded a multi-point game since tallying two points in a 6-3 win over the Blues on Oct. 27.

Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Finds twine in shutout win
Malkin scored a goal on two shots in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Predators.
The 20-year NHL veteran continues to defy his age as he tallied the second goal of the game for the Penguins. Overall, Malkin has five goals, 18 assists and 48 shots on goal through 19 games this season. He has continued to provide steady production for the Penguins all year, with at least a point in 16 of his 19 games. Malkin is tied for 14th in the league with 23 points through Sunday's games, and he isn't showing signs of slowing down. With 1,369 points in his career, he's on pace to reach 1,400 before the end of the season, making him an elite fantasy option the rest of the way.

Malkin has started 2025-26 in good form, but his goal at 6:37 of the second period was his first of the campaign. The 39-year-old has added six assists, 11 shots on net and a minus-1 rating over five contests while getting on the scoresheet in four of them. While age-related declines on offense have been noticeable in the last few years, Malkin is still highly talented, so bursts of production shouldn't be too shocking.

After helping the Pens take advantage of power-play situations in the first and second periods, Malkin made his biggest impact on the game when he sprung Justin Brazeau for the game-winner late in the third. There has been some suggestion 2025-26 will be Malkin's last season in the NHL, but the 39-year-old isn't playing like someone whose tank is nearly empty -- he's come flying out of the gates this season with five helpers in Pittsburgh's first two games.

Malkin set up both of Justin Brazeau's goals -- a perfect backhander in the first period and an empty-netter in the final frame with 2:12 left in the game. Malkin might be past his prime, but the veteran center remains a productive player even if he's no longer the elite forward he was during his prime years. Malkin recorded 16 goals and 34 assists across 68 regular-season contests in 2024-25.

Making his return after a four-game absence due to an upper-body injury, Malkin wasted little time making an impact as he set up Sidney Crosby for the afternoon's first goal early in the first period.
