  • Giants' Jon Runyan: Nearing return to practice

    Runyan (shoulder) is nearing a return to the practice field with the Giants, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. Runyan remained unavailable for Tuesday's practice session, but head coach Brian Daboll said that the offensive lineman is "close" to a return. Runyan signed with New York in the offseason and he's expected to operate as a starting offensive guard in 2024.

    The Giants plan to sign Runyan to a three-year, $30 million contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Runyan hasn't missed a game since he was drafted in the sixth round by Green Bay in 2020, so the Giants are expecting to get stability at one of their guard spots for the future. He likely fits best at right guard with the Giants.

    Runyan sat out of the Packers' practice Thursday due to ankle and groin injuries, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports. Runyan sprained his ankle in Green Bay's Week 4 loss to Detroit but the groin issue is new, per Demovsky. The right guard looks in jeopardy of missing a start for the first time since Week 1 of the 2021 season.

    Runyan suffered an ankle sprain during Thursday night's 34-20 loss to Detroit, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports. An already depleted Packers offensive line takes another blow, as Runyan was seen in a walking boot Friday. According to Demovsky, Green Bay's starting guard luckily avoided a high-ankle sprain and is hopeful to play during Week 5's contest against Las Vegas.
