Collins was working through a shoulder injury during the offseason, but he's now healthy enough to participate in practices. The 2025 second-rounder played in 16 regular-season games in his rookie year, finishing with 17 tackles (four solo), including 1.0 sacks, two pass defenses, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

The 49ers placed Collins (shoulder) on the active/PUP list Saturday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Collins picked up a shoulder injury earlier in the offseason and will now be sidelined until he's activated off the PUP list. The 2025 second-round pick is coming off a solid rookie campaign with 1.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries and is expected to serve as the team's starting nose tackle during the 2026 season.

Collins was asked to start early in his rookie campaign for a San Francisco squad lacking interior defensive line depth. The second-round pick didn't stand out from a statistical standpoint, but he did record the first sack of his career. Collins should be a frontrunner to start at one of tackle positions in 2026.

Collins was a full participant in Friday's practice, and his lack of an injury tag puts him on track to return Sunday from a one-game absence due to a hip injury. The fact he was able to return to practice Wednesday (albeit in a limited capacity) is an indication that he's progressing in his recovery, though it's not clear if he'll be able to return to action Sunday versus Arizona. Jordan Elliott and Kevin Givens both logged more defensive snaps than usual with Collins absent Week 10.

Collins appeared on Thursday's practice report as a DNP due to a hip injury, which also prevented him from practicing Friday. The injury is severe enough for him to be sidelined for Sunday's NFC West tilt, which means there are more snaps at defensive tackle available for the likes of Jordan Elliott, Kevin Givens and CJ West.
