Player Outlook
Mitchell missed most of 2024 as he recovered from a torn ACL but is expected to be fully healthy for the start of training camp. As a rookie he had a six-game stretch where he averaged 11.3 points on 9.1 touches per game, so if he gets back to full speed he does provide upside even on a small workload. He will have a tough path towards touches as lond as Derrick Henry and Justice Hill are both healthy. Watch training camp reports and if Mitchell is getting buzz he may move into late-round consideration. For now, view him as a deep Dynasty stash who could provide upside in the future.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Practicing Monday

Mitchell (hamstring) returned to practice Monday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports. Mitchell had been sidelined since Baltimore's Aug. 7 preseason opener against the Colts in which he had nine carries for 68 yards and a touchdown. He missed the team's second preseason game this past Saturday against the Cowboys, but the speedy running back seems to be on track to play in the preseason finale against Washington this coming Saturday. Mitchell averaged 8.4 yards per carry in eight games as a rookie in 2023 before tearing his ACL and returned to average just 2.0 yards per carry across five regular-season games in 2024.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Tending to hamstring injury

Coach John Harbaugh said after Saturday's 31-13 preseason win in Dallas that Mitchell is dealing with a hamstring injury but may be able to play in next Saturday's exhibition at Washington. Mitchell hasn't practiced since suiting up in the Ravens' preseason opener on Thursday, Aug. 7, when he took nine carries for 68 yards and one touchdown. The nature of his injury wasn't revealed until Harbaugh touched on it Saturday, and even if he doesn't play next weekend, the running back will "be fine" for a Week 1 road matchup with the Bills on Sunday, Sept. 7. Once Mitchell is healthy, he's poised for a reserve role behind workhorse Derrick Henry and complementary option Justice Hill.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Misses Monday's practice

Mitchell (undisclosed) did not participate in Monday's training camp practice, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports. Mitchell hasn't practiced since the Ravens' preseason win over the Colts on Thursday, when he rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. The nature and severity of Mitchell's injury isn't clear, but he would be in jeopardy of missing Saturday's exhibition contest against the Cowboys were he not to return to practice. With Mitchell, Rasheen Ali (undisclosed) and Marcus Major (concussion) all sidelined, D'Ernest Johnson and Myles Gaskin will compete for RB3 reps behind Derrick Henry and Justice Hill.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Not practicing Saturday

Mitchell (undisclosed) is not participating in Saturday's training camp practice, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports. It could just be a maintenance day for Mitchell, who got an extended run during the Ravens' preseason game against the Colts on Thursday and finished with 68 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries. His practice participation over the coming week will be worth monitoring as the Ravens prepare for their next exhibition game against the Cowboys on Saturday, Aug. 16.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Looking explosive at camp

Mitchell has looked like one of the most explosive players on the field early on at the Ravens' training camp, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Banner reports. Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken said Mitchell would be "fighting for touches" as Baltimore's RB3 behind Derrick Henry and Justice Hill, but if Mitchell is able to get back to the form he showed as a rookie, then there's a chance he will push Hill for playing time and touches. Mitchell was electric with the ball in his hands as a 2023 rookie, posting a 47-396-2 rushing line during the regular season and averaging an otherworldly 8.4 yards per carry. If Henry ever goes down with an injury, Mitchell would be a must-add in fantasy football. He's worth a late-round pick in best-ball formats.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Feels back in top form

Mitchell has been a standout at Baltimore's voluntary OTAs and said Monday that he feels fully recovered from the ACL tear he suffered as a rookie in 2023, Ryan Mink of the team's official site reports. The 23-year-old is showing some of the burst he displayed before the injury, when across eight regular-season games in 2023 he rushed 47 times for 396 yards and two scores, for a tremendous 8.4 YPC. The following season, Mitchell's debut was delayed until Week 10 due to his rehab, and across five regular-season appearances he was held to just 2.0 YPC. Now entering Year 3, he not only feels 100 percent healthy, but he indicated that he's set personal records in all of his speed tracking analytics this offseason. Even so, Mitchell will face tough competition for change-of-pace reps in the Ravens backfield. Derrick Henry remains entrenched as Baltimore's workhorse and inked a two-year extension this offseason, while Justice Hill did well as a pass-catching specialist in 2024.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Incomplete grade in Year 2

Mitchell finished the season with 15 carries for 30 yards and one reception on one target for 28 yards across five regular-season games. The second-year running back missed the season's first nine games while recovering from the significant knee injury that ended his promising rookie campaign. Even though Mitchell was active in Weeks 10-12, he did not receive an offensive touch in those games. He was then inactive for three games before somewhat getting in the mix in the final two weeks with 15 combined carries. The 2.0 YPC was a far cry from the 8.4 figure he established on 47 carries last season. If Justice Hill returns during the postseason, Mitchell will likely settle into a small change-of-pace role in the offense while also serving as a kick returner. In dynasty formats, it would be hasty to cut bait on a player like Mitchell simply because of a difficult year. His impressive rookie season and the injury caveat this year should still keep him on the radar for 2025 and beyond, even with Derrick Henry under contract for another year.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Tears off long kick return Saturday

Mitchell took four carries for 10 yards and returned a kick for 47 yards during Saturday's 35-10 win versus the Browns. Mitchell played just 14 of Baltimore's 67 offensive snaps in Week 18, a similar role to what he saw in Week 17 at Houston after being inactive the three games prior. However, his biggest contribution to Saturday's win actually came on special teams, as he took a second-quarter kickoff all the way out to Cleveland's 48-yard line. He figures to play only sparingly in the wild-card round versus the Steelers as long as Derrick Henry is at full strength.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Will play against Houston

Mitchell is active for Wednesday's game against the Texans, Clifford Brown of the Ravens' official site reports. Mitchell has been a healthy inactive for the Ravens' last three games, but he will suit up Christmas Day due to Justice Hill being ruled out with a concussion. Baltimore has opted for rookie fifth-round pick Rasheen Ali to serve as the third-string running back behind Derrick Henry and Hill over its last three games, so Ali could settle into the No. 2 role ahead of Mitchell on Wednesday. Mitchell is also likely to be involved on special teams as a kickoff returner.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Remains inactive

Mitchell (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants. Mitchell returned from a torn ACL in Week 10 but played only three total offensive snaps in three games thereafter. He's now a healthy scratch for the second straight week, allowing Rasheen Ali to suit up for the third time on the campaign.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: No role in offense yet

Mitchell did not get a touch on two offensive snaps Sunday against the Steelers. The Ravens continue to slow-play Mitchell's reintroduction to the offense. Through two games, Mitchell has zero touches on three offensive snaps. He's been involved in the kick return game, but his role in the offense has been minimal since returning from a significant knee injury last December. The Ravens have two more games before the bye -- at the Chargers in Week 12 and home against the Eagles in Week 13 -- so it's possible that Mitchell will start to get more involved down the stretch. In the meantime, though, Mitchell is buried on the running back depth chart.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Week 11 Waiver Priority List

Mitchell made his 2024 debut in Week 10 against Cincinnati but only played two snaps. His role should grow as the season goes on, and we'll see how he does while sharing the Baltimore backfield with Derrick Henry and Justice Hill. He could have some lottery-ticket upside if something were to happen to Henry, but Hill is also a factor. That said, Mitchell showed last season, prior to suffering a torn ACL, that he could be a difference-maker with his speed, and he's worth adding in deeper formats for 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Limited snaps in return

In his return to action in Thursday's 35-34 win over the Bengals, Mitchell logged two snaps on offense and seven on special teams, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports. It's not surprising that in his first game back since having suffered a torn ACL in his left knee Week 15 of the 2023 campaign, Mitchell -- who didn't record a carry or target Thursday -- was eased back into the mix. The 22-year-old speedster did return one kickoff for 30 yards, and he'll likely see incrementally more snaps in the coming weeks. However, with Derrick Henry entrenched as the Ravens' lead back and Justice Hill working in a change-of-pace role, it may be a while before Mitchell sees enough volume to merit fantasy lineup consideration.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Chance to play in Week 10

Head coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Mitchell (knee) has a chance to play in Thursday's game against the Bengals, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports. Mitchell practiced in full all week but wasn't activated from the PUP list ahead of Sunday's blowout win over the Broncos. He was designated to return from the PUP list Oct. 23, and Harbaugh's comments suggest that the running back could be ready to make his season debut Week 10. If Mitchell is activated for Thursday's contest, he'll likely serve as the team's No. 3 running back behind Derrick Henry and Justice Hill.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Won't return for Week 9

Mitchell (knee) wasn't activated from the PUP list ahead of Sunday's matchup versus Denver, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports. Mitchell continues to make progress in his recovery from last December's torn ACL, and he was able to log a trio of full practices this week. Per Zrebiec, Baltimore is opting to give Mitchell more practice time before activating him, and he still has 11 days left on his 21-day practice window before the team has to make a decision on him, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com. The Ravens have a quick turnaround after Sunday's contest with a Thursday matchup against Cincinnati in Week 10, and Mitchell isn't guaranteed to be cleared for that contest.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Full practice participant Wednesday

Mitchell (knee) was listed as a full practice participant on Wednesday's injury report. Keaton began the regular season on the reserve/PUP list while in the final stages of his recovery from a torn ACL in his left knee that he sustained in Week 15 of the 2023 campaign. His 21-day practice window opened Oct. 23, and while he was a limited participant all of last week, he was able to practice without restrictions Wednesday. If he's able to log full practices over the next two days, there's a chance he could be activated off IR and make his 2024 regular-season debut against the Broncos on Sunday. If he does return, Mitchell would serve as the Ravens' No. 3 running back behind Derrick Henry and Justice Hill.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Practice window opened Wednesday

The Ravens designated Mitchell (knee) for return from injured reserve Wednesday, Ryan Mink of the team's official site reports. Mitchell -- who has been recovering from an ACL tear suffered last December -- took part in his practice of the 2024 season Wednesday, participating in a limited fashion. Head coach John Harbaugh has already ruled out Mitchell for Sunday's game against the Browns, but Wednesday's transaction officially opens the running back's 21-day evaluation window. Assuming Mitchell is eventually added back to the 53-man roster before the 21-day window closes, it's unclear what his role will be with Derrick Henry and Justice Hill both performing exceptionally as the one-two punch out of Baltimore's backfield. Unless Henry and/or Hill succumb to an injury, Mitchell could struggle to find enough snaps to deliver fantasy utility.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Set to resume practicing

Mitchell (knee) is in line to return to practice this week, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports. Mitchell, who suffered an ACL tear last December, is on the PUP list, but once he's back at practice, the running back's 21-day window for reinstatement to the 53-man roster will open. Per Mink, Mitchell will likely need a multi-week ramp-up period before returning to game action, but once the 22-year-old is deemed ready, he'll provide the Ravens with backfield depth behind Derrick Henry and Justice Hill.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Not close to returning

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday that Mitchell (knee) is "right on schedule" but "isn't close enough yet to talk about," Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. In other words, the Ravens never expected Mitchell to contribute in the first half of the season, hoping instead to get him back later in the campaign. He suffered an ACL tear Week 15 last season and apparently will remain on the PUP list for at least a few more weeks. Harbaugh said that the team expects Mitchell to play at some point in 2024.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Out first four games, at least

The Ravens placed Mitchell (knee) on the reserve/PUP list Tuesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. Mitchell is working his way back from a torn left ACL, and while his placement on the reserve/PUP list only officially rules him out for the first four games of the season, the second-year pro may not be to ready to retake the field until November. In any case, Derrick Henry is positioned to work as the clear No. 1 backfield option for Baltimore, while Justice Hill remains in town to handle pass-catching work. Rookie fifth-round pick Rasheen Ali (concussion) could work as the No. 3 man as long as Mitchell remains sidelined.
