Commanders' Trey Amos: Team being cautious with injury
Commanders general manager Adam Peters told reporters Tuesday that the team has taken a cautious approach to Amos' lower leg injury, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
"[Amos is] doing really well...Had some soft tissue soreness in the offseason so we wanted to take it slow. He should be back soon. We wanted to be overly cautious," Peters relayed Tuesday. Amos was a second-round selection of the Commanders in the 2025 NFL Draft, and the Ole Miss product started in each of the first 10 games of the regular season before fracturing his fibula against the Lions in early November. Given Peters' comments, it seems like Amos will be ready to return to practice at some point during training camp, perhaps before the Commanders' first preseason game against the Dolphins on Friday, Aug. 14.

Commanders' Trey Amos: Lands on PUP list
The Commanders placed Amos (lower leg) on the active/PUP list Saturday.
Amos is still recovering from the fractured fibula he suffered back in Week 10 of the 2025 season. While there's currently no timetable for the 24-year-old's return, he will be eligible to participate in practice once healthy but will be limited to side work until then.

Amos is present, but rather than drilling with the team, he's still rehabbing from the fractured fibula he suffered back in Week 10 of the 2025 campaign. There is still no concrete timeline for his full return to football activities, and in the meantime, veteran Antonio Hamilton could see increased work on the boundary with the first team.

Coach Dan Quinn does not anticipate activating any players currently on injured reserve, including Amos (lower leg), Ben Standig of Big 100 Washington D.C. reports.
Amos suffered a fractured fibula during the Week 10 loss to the Lions, and it appears to have officially ended the rookie's season. With no activations from IR anticipated, the Commanders will likely end their season without either starting cornerback, as Marshon Lattimore (knee) also resides on injured reserve. Amos ends his rookie campaign with 32 tackles (19 solo) and six passes defensed through 10 games.

Amos suffered a fractured fibula in Sunday's loss to the Lions and will miss at least the next four games, though it's unclear if he'll be able to return to action this season. With Amos joining Marshon Lattimore (knee) on injured reserve, Washington's anemic defense will be dipping deep into their cornerback depth chart moving forward. This is a defense to attack in fantasy.

Amos is recovering from an injury severe enough that it could force him to miss the remainder of the 2025 campaign. Amos tweaked his ankle in the second quarter, and he's being evaluated by medical staff on the sidelines to determine whether he can return to Sunday's game. Amos (hip) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Lions, Ben Standig of Big 100 Washington D.C. reports.
Amos sustained a hip injury during the Commanders' Week 9 loss to the Seahawks, which limited his practice participation Wednesday and Thursday. He was able to log a full practice Friday to shed an injury designation for Sunday's game, when he'll start at outside corner opposite Jonathan Jones. Amos has logged 30 tackles (17 solo) and six pass defenses through nine regular-season games.
