Chargers' Ladd McConkey: Doesn't play against Houston
McConkey did not play in the Chargers' 27-7 preseason win over the Texans on Thursday.
McConkey was joined by Tre' Harris and Quentin Johnston on the sidelines while JaQuae Jackson, KeAndre Lambert-Smith and rookie fourth-rounder Brenen Thompson saw the bulk of the wide receiver snaps during Thursday's exhibition game. McConkey saw his production dip from his rookie season to his 2025 sophomore campaign, but his output could rebound in 2026 due to the departure of veteran Keenan Allen and the addition of offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.

Chargers' Ladd McConkey: Will be full go for camp
McConkey (hamstring) said he'll be "full go" for the start of training camp Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
The wideout will avoid placement on the active/PUP list after he battled a strained left hamstring during spring practices. McConkey had a down season in 2025 due in large part to the presence of Keenan Allen, who siphoned away targets in the middle of the field, but the veteran wasn't re-signed. McConkey is expected to be a featured part of new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel's scheme that is built on speed and quickness. It would be a pretty big disappointment if McConkey isn't able to improve on his 66-789-6 receiving line over 16 regular-season games from last season after he went for 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie in 2024 without Allen in the picture.

Chargers' Ladd McConkey: Dealing with strained hamstring
McConkey said Tuesday that he's tending to a left hamstring strain, Alex Insdorf of BoltBeat.com reports.
Coach Jim Harbaugh told Insdorf earlier Tuesday that McConkey was "working through something" and would be limited to individual drills at this week's mandatory minicamp. McConkey clarified the nature of the injury not long afterward, while adding "let's get it healthy and ready to roll for" training camp. Through 32 regular-season games to begin his career, the 2024 second-round pick has tallied 148 catches on 218 targets for 1,938 yards and 13 touchdowns. McConkey will be seeking the second 1,000-yard campaign of his career under the direction of new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.

Chargers' Ladd McConkey: Limited to individual drills
Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said Tuesday that McConkey (undisclosed) is "working through something" and will be limited to individual drills at mandatory minicamp, Alex Insdorf of BoltBeat.com reports.
Per Kris Rhim of ESPN.com, Harbaugh downplayed the severity of McConkey's injury, so it doesn't appear there's any level of concern about his status for the start of training camp in July. The wideout racked up 66 catches for 789 yards and six scores on 106 targets across 16 regular-season games in 2025, a step down from his rookie year production (82-1,149-7) in 2024. There are reasons to be optimistic about McConkey's chances of rebounding, however, with quarterback Justin Herbert slated to benefit from a healthy offensive line, new OC Mike McDaniel bringing a spark to the offense, and Keenan Allen no longer providing competition for underneath targets.
